About the facility
Morada Albuquerque

Morada Albuquerque proudly offers a safe and comfortable assisted living and memory care community for the seniors of New Mexico. Situated in the high desert, Albuquerque is a vibrant city filled with historic and colorful adobe buildings, several cultural centers and museums celebrating the area’s tribal history, and local shops selling Native American handicrafts. It’s best known for its annual International Balloon Fiesta, which takes place during early October.

The Morada Albuquerque is just as lively and colorful as the surrounding city. In their sensational dining area, residents can enjoy gourmet meals with restaurant-style service. The community’s executive chefs prepare made from scratch meals which feature international cuisines and local favorites. If needed, these delicious meals can be modified to suit dietary restrictions and preferences.

Residents are encouraged to connect with each other in the community’s inviting common areas including a fishing pond, putting green, tiki bar, and pet park. Their Celebrations activities program is led by a full-time activities director who plans events like game nights, Sunday brunch outings, movie marathons, and so much more. There’s always something to take part in at Morada Albuquerque!

Friendly Staff but Company Cuts Corners
- Staff are very nice, friendly, do their best to make residents comfortable and happy - Perpetually understaffed, especially in the kitchen/dining hall, which is probably the explanation for: - Frequent shortages of basics like coffee or sugar - Sometimes long wait times to get served in dining room - Food is often served cold - The transportation they offer is one of the most important services for our family, and it's been reduced to only 3 days a week, with limited hours - with no reduction in cost to us, of course - To our knowledge, no accommodations are made for hard of hearing residents to participate in monthly meetings nor movies- no subtitles, etc. This would seem like something pretty basic in a place where elderly people live.

Poor care understaffed
My mom passed away due to lack of care. She would fall because no one would respond to the button which calls for help. She would still be with me if I had removed her from there. We had the life alert pendant from my moms previous apartment. I kept the pendant because we had paid the 1yr fee. The fire department came 7 times in less than 9 months to pick up my mom. Over 6 times my mom got ahold of me to get her help by calling the medical supervisor. Stay away. Stay far away.

Great location and the apartment was the perfect size
My dad seems to be doing well and engaged in activities. I feel great knowing he is at Morada while I'm in another state. It was easy to move him in. The price was great. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive. I picked it because it was located close to the VA and they are able to provide him transportation to/from. The staff was super friendly. The room was a good size with plenty of closet space and cabinets. The facility was very clean. I guess the only issue was the campus seemed quite big and my dad had a difficult time remembering where to go the first few days. But, he was able to learn quickly.

Morada Albuquerque review
I think the staff needs to be more involved and the food needs to be more consistent. Sometimes it's good and fresh but many times it is cold or not fully cooked. Th cost seems to be in line with others in the area. All in all it is fair too good.

Caring staff nice facility
Our mom has been in Morada since May. The facility staff have all been kind, caring and friendly. The facility has a lot of activities on a daily basis, and each meal offers a varied menu. Family is encouraged to partake in meals, activities and spending time with residents. We are very pleased with care and peace of mind Morada has provided us.

Would not recommend
I don't think my grandmother likes anything about living there, other than one staff member (front desk) and the size and look of her apartment. The director of healthcare is barely competent and has caused us problems from the start. They are understaffed and many staff are under qualified.

We are lucky to have found Morada, it's a great place to live.
The facility is spacious, with many amenities such as: movie theater, weight room, billiards table, game room, and more. There are two very nice outdoor patios for lounging in the wonderful New Mexico weather. The staff is friendly, caring and knowledgeable in what they do. Morada I feel is exceptional place for my father to live.

Areas they can improve on - Definitely the food and food service maybe some incentives to lower the rent a small amount each month. Most of the staff is top notch a few could be replaced because they really don't know their job and always say they can't solve the problem and had to be referred to corporate and it will take some extra time.

Morada is no place for mom
They were a disaster right from move in day. They left us without keys or the ability to get in our room for over 8 hours. We did not know who to talk to or how things worked. My brother and I finally took mom over to get some dinner our selves. We were then stuck in the cafe because we couldn't get back in the room. (I never did get our pass key until 4 days before we moved out. Less than a month later. I have documented proof they left her for hours at a time alone and scared. She wrote "help me" on menus and other papers. She called out for help for hours. I have. video footage of them leaving her in her room with poop filled pants. They refused to return my [removed] community fee even though the website says satisfaction quarantined. They threatened to make me pay for March because I didn't give 30 days notice. I wasn't even there 30 days. I have reported all of this and more to the New Mexico Department of Health as well as Adult protective services. My mother is having se

I've really had to stay on top of medical follow through for my dad. Several times getting calls at the end of day that he was out of meds or oxygen (I live out of town so very stressful) it's improving now but still having to be sure that techs are following through with orders.

Nice people but some problems
What's been good: - [name removed] in Admissions - Many friendly and helpful staff - Cookies at the front desk in the afternoons - Food in the dining room is tasty - They were very patient and had no issues with us having a mobile storage unit in the back parking lot for a month, as my mother-in-law went through all of her belongings and pared down quite a bit. What's Not Good: - Freezer broke the first week - it took over a month to get it replaced, in spite of multiple requests/reports to multiple staff people - Service in dining room is chaotic and poorly- managed. Occasionally fast but usually frustratingly slow. Servers are nice and try their best but clearly not well trained, lots of turnover, seem to have no organized system for taking orders and getting food to tables in this kind of setting, with diners coming in and joining others already at tables. Food is often cold. - My mother-in-law has had all of her cash stolen out of her wallet (in her apartment) on several occasions. The first time, she and all of us thought, well, maybe she spent it and forgot. The second time, we were all quite sure she had not been anywhere where she could spend it, since withdrawing it. But we didn't want to believe that could happen. Then even her British pound note, which she was only keeping as a souvenir, was taken from her wallet - there is no way she spent that in Albuquerque!

Review for Morada Albuquerque
Make sure you do your homework and ask the right questions regarding the type of care provided. Be very specific on your needs and expectations before you sign. We picked this community because they had a chapel with weekly catholic services, price for type of services offered.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the New Mexico regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about New Mexico regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Morada Albuquerque 8.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
