Overall very good
I was very pleased with the attitude of all of the workers. Everyone was friendly respectful and seem to have a helpful attitude. Mini were willing to go the extra mile to see that I had what I needed. There was one night shift in the last two weeks of my stay that let me stay on A bed pan

Absolutely terrible!!!
This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star!! The so called care that my mother has received here is absolutely disgusting! The first 3 days that my mother was there, they over medicated her by giving her a sleeping pill at 8am along with her pain medication so she couldn’t even keep her eyes open long enough to eat, drink or even speak to anyone! Finally got that fixed and her moved to a different room after they let her fall with a broken hip. Then a few days later they let her fall AGAIN! She was left in the shower with no towel and conditioner in her hair freezing cold for over 30 mins! She kept complaining about not getting her medication and after about a week and a half of this happening, my sister finally caught the nurse red handed!! We went to the director several times and the social worker there and NOTHING was ever done about any of

The ultimate horrible place
The personnel is rude PT was not as prescribed. The place is in dire need of update. I had a cockroach in my room. Had many Covid cases, including mine. It took mostly 45 Minutes for nurses to respond. It was a total nightmare. I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. Originally, I wrote a four page letter, but decided not to send it, since no one cares about anything these days.

Slow to answer lights, always in a rush.
They are slow to answer lights and when my brief needed to be changed I was told "you will have to wait till rounds" . When my dtr. Asked for a pain pill for me the nurse disregarded the request and counted out with the other nurse and left. She ended up having to ask another nurse whom was on top of it and got it for me right away. Make sure to have family drop in at different times and shifts to visit and advocate for you.

Overall very good
I was very pleased with the attitude of all of the workers. Everyone was friendly respectful and seem to have a helpful attitude. Mini were willing to go the extra mile to see that I had what I needed. There was one night shift in the last two weeks of my stay that let me stay on A bed pan for one hour waiting for someone to help me and I have waited 45 minutes to get the bedpan. This team was the exception not the rule. The meals were good and nutritious. I sometimes felt like they were prepared a little too quickly. Overall I would write the meals is much better than average.

This place is a nightmare!
No one ever wants to have to put a loved one somewhere for rehab or any other reason, especially during this covid pandemic but that’s exactly what we had to do with our mother. She was to be quarantined for 14 days in her room but would still be getting her therapy daily. We were reassured that she would be well taken care of but take care of was so far from what she received. She would push her call light and wait hours for someone to come to her room..day after day she sat alone without the comfort of knowing that if she got sick or needed something that they would come, but that wasn’t the case. I made calls to the facility and I was told that they would make sure that their staff wouldn’t let any of this happen again but nothing got better. For Christmas dinner she was given a poet of meat with BBQ sauce on it, nothing else. When she asked if they had any sides, they said that is all they had. Our elderly should never have to go though what my mother experienced at this place..

The Village of Death at Southern Hills
The villages at Southern Hills is where my beautiful mother that I SO dearly loved contracted Covid 19 in [date removed], 9 months after it started and safety should have prevent Did the employees caring for those not wear masks. 5 of them with covid active and 62 resolved with zero deaths as of [date removed] reported. Yet number of active patients was 15 resolved 63 and deaths 8 as of [date removed] I say was because the morning of [date removed] my mothers heart stopped from covid pneumonia. She was a young 72 with beautiful hair and eyes, a big heart and loved to laugh Today is [date removed]. Your weekly update is past and deaths are 9 not 8. #9 for a true lady that is a 10 so so many. God bless you. If I had this knowledge now with a loved one in there, i would move mountains to get them out and safe. 67 employee cases and 78 residents where as of [date removed] you went from a 1 differential to 11 with employees vs the residents. Wow. If hospitals followed this standard of care...well let's say Keeping Safe at the top of your site is false and shame on YOU! I forgive you but I don't accept your standards. I love you mom! Rest in Peace, your son wants the world to know this is real [removed].

I am writing on behalf of my grandmother. Villages at Southern Hills did a great job taking care of her and getting her back home. Nurse [name removed], Therapist [name removed], and [name removed] were a big help in her recovery. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facility kept clean.

Awful experience
This facility is awful! There is no bedside manners for dr and employees surely don’t know how to speak to families on the phone. They put my mother with a covid patient and in turn my mother was sick with covid and they tried to say she was faking it! When it came time to get her belongings they couldn’t even put her things in a real box.... Will never ever return there.

Terrible
The staff is great while you are trying to get your loved one in the facility. After that, communication is almost non-existent. My father went for rehab after a hospital stay for a fall and UTI. We visited everyday and noticed care was lax. We asked for his labs be checked because of the infection and tendency for sodium levels to drop which would leave him confused. Not done. I had to go home, which is out of state, but planned on returning in a week or two. My brother called saying the facility was in lockdown due to coved 19. We had no way to see after his care. He contracted the virus and did well until he took a turn for the worse. The nurses caring for him did keep in touch via text but [name removed] never contacted the family, not once, to discuss his condition. My father died, alone in a strange place with no one to comfort him.

I'm answering on behalf of my mom, who was at The Villages about 10 days for rehab after being in the hospital for weeks. Due to COVID protocol, no one was allowed inside the facility. Communication with mom was by phone only. Since I couldn't go inside, I can't say one way or the other about details of her care and facility cleanliness etc. We did choose The Villages based on our neighbor's experience there last summer, which was excellent. [Name removed], the social worker, was wonderful in communicating with me, getting answers for about various things, and coordinating mom's discharge in hopes that being in a familiar environment will help her improve physically and mentally. [Name removed] also said she's available after discharge if we need her help with anything, which is going above and beyond.

Great experience at VASH
I was at VASH, [date removed] thru [date removed], for physical and occupational therapy. My experience was wonderful. The therapy was spot on. The trainers I worked with were professional and very knowledgeable. At the end, I accomplished what I set out to. The nursing staff was very attentive to my needs. I did not want for anything. The food was good and the facilities were clean. I would recommend VASH to anyone.

Disappointment
My family was in Villages for rehab. She deteriorated significantly while in the facility. I live in a different town (but take off work to go to doctor's appointments and visit on weekends) so emailed the social worker multiple times trying to find out information on her progress. I would receive emails concerning when Villages wanted to discharge her but not receive answers to my questions until I visited the facility face-to-face during the week. Villages informed us that she was ready to be released before the doctor released her. We had to argue with the social worker that her doctor ordered a continuance of rehab/care before they agreed to keep her another 2 weeks. Villages did perform rehab but did not engage her in conversation and encouraged her to sleep all day. Villages purchased a wheelchair for her without consulting any of the family with decision making over her care. (She already has a chair.) The facility lost all her clothes. I went to the laundry room to see if I could find her clothes. All her dirty clothes were sitting in a cardboard box on the floor, unwashed and forgotten. There are racks of “lost” clothes in their laundry room. I received a call from my loved one during the evening while she was in Villages. She was alone and had tried to get out of bed on her own. She was half on and off her bed and felt that she was about to fall. We were finally able to get the receptionist at the front desk to answer our call and get nursing assistance for her. We finally made arrangements to transfer her to another facility. She was significantly weaker after her 6 week stay with Villages. All her family members who visited while she was in the Villages were disappointed in her care while there.

I hate this EFFING place! I'm stressed out, depressed, in pain, frustrated, lonely. I have less and less confidence in the staff here as time goes by. It takes well over an hour to get pain medication; and, that's when I request it even before it's time, just to give the nurse a little time to get it ready when it is time. It will still be well over an hour after the due time. My pain escalates and takes forever to get under control. They have not been giving me the full dose of my anti-depressant, so I am crashing and quite incapable of handling the stress I have here. I have had two serious crying episodes and I feel generally anxious. There is no humanness here. I feel like a piece of furniture. I just now asked for my pain med. It is 5 minutes early, so, nurse refused to give it to me. I still have not got control of my pain from waiting an hour and a half for pain pill upon waking this morning. I had to ask for my doctor's name, who I have not met as of yet, and did not get any information how to contact him. I want to go the #&## HOME. This place is making me way worse, not better.

My mother was 92 years of age and has been taken care of very well at home with me her daughter until she became ill and had to be hospitalized. The doctor suggested we put her in the village for care after being released from hospital for a set time. They would set her breathing treatments beside her bed and expect her to use them on her own and when I would arrive they would be sitting there unused. She had stage four COPD. After that time she spent there in the village over 20 days I brought her home and within a couple of days we were back in the hospital and of course she did not make it very long after that. I attribute her lungs getting worse because of their[Removed] of not making sure she took her breathing treatments. You cannot expect a 92-year-old person to do certain things on their own. The worst mistake of my life was allowing her to be brought there.

A Lovely Place But Needed More Space
The tour I had went very well. It was very helpful with good information about the community. They were on time and terrific. The rooms did not have enough space on their wall for her personal items. It seemed like a smaller room and we did not pick them.
