Same, same, same
Unfortunately my mother is slowly dying of boredom in this place, there is something about going in there and NEVER seeing more than 3-4 people doing ANYTHING outside their rooms. The staff is NOT engaged and it it eventually causes problems with your loved ones. It's a bad nursing home. I would say honestly, when your walking the halls at 3:30, or 6:30 and one person is in the watching the same movie from 3 years ago and 3 people are playing cards at best. Something is wrong.

Very expensive for limited facilities and services (over $6000 for the two of them). Very small; good if you want something with fewer than 70 residents. Older clientele. My mother cannot bring her small dog. Units are small and have very limited storage. Exercise options are limited, no real clubs, transport to grocery stores closely supervised. Not sure it is worth the price until elders have very limited mobility and interests. Tour provider was lovely.

Relief and gratitude
Like most families, our decision to find a place for our Mom was filled with emotion. Once we had an opportunity to speak to Kathleen and Bob and visit Bristol Village, our concerns for Mom vanished. Mom has been there since May, and we continue to be grateful and happy with the care and support we are all receiving from Bristol Village.

Not impressed
We visited this community while looking into care options for a loved one. I was not impressed by what I saw here at all! It is a newer community, but it didn't seem maintained well at all. It was dusty and there was a strong odor. It was also one of the more expensive options that we saw, and didn't seem to offer much for what they charged!

Very good!
Very good! They were very expensive there. Their food is home made, and the people were treated very well. The apartments were a good size. They do a good job keeping people safe and and they were treated with respect.

They had a great activities calendar
This was more expensive than the others we viewed. They seemed to have great reviews about the food and they had a great activities calandar. There was no availability and it was about 12,000 more a year than the place we ended up choosing.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the New York regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about New York regulations for Assisted Living.
