American House Sterling Heights Senior Living review
I really love American House to date they have been great! The medical team also good and for the most part can't complain. I would recommend. So happy to be there. We are In the memory care unit but they are nice there. Food could be a little better and would wish they would help straighten up the room for them a little more but that it not a priority - they keep things pretty clean. No smell of urine, etc. Again we are happy and my cousin is checked on and supervised often always cared for which is most important

Making the move!
I had been working on my parents for approximately two years to agree to a move. My step mom has severe dementia and my dad had to become the main person for everything, something he had never had to do. They lived 2 1/2 hours from their closest family member and were pushing people away and making excuses for not coming to anything, always at the last minute. I finally had enough and ignored their last minute request to not come visit one weekend. I found them still in bed at noon when I got there. Their home was filthy inside and out. They never got out of their pjs that day and refused to open any windows or go outside and the visit was very uncomfortable as they are both chain smokers. From that day forward, I got my brother involved and moved them into American House in less than 3 months. It’s the best decision we could have made! They are still adjusting, but the activities are endless for the residents there. A place for mom was a great starting point for me and very helpful.

Always ask the questions that you may have, never assume. The staff is wonderful. Be involved, be present. Know that American House Sterling Heights and Medical are two separate entities, in the same location. The kitchen staff does the best that they can- they work hard on making something that everyone will enjoy. Just know that not everyone will agree with it. When we had to move mom into the Memory Care hallway, American House was very supportive and we were able to get mom moved over quickly. I would, and have, recommended American House Sterling Heights Senior Living to others. Not all American Houses are the same, but the one on 15 Mile/Dodge Park is wonderful.

Our families experience has not met our expectations
Not a good rating overall... my mom is bedridden so she doesn't do any activities. Most of the Medical Team staff is very unfriendly with the exception of a few that are compassionate and very nice. Food is horrible. Honestly the place is horrible and would not recommend to anyone

Nice facility
We chose American House because of the familiar location and I liked the fact that it is all on one level so there are no stairs which was important. It also just looked like a nice facility and the staff were friendly. The apartments here are decent size and very clean. Overall it is a nice place with great staff, good food, and we would recommend them.

A Great Place for a Loved One
They were excellent with my loved one. They delivered the food to the resident's rooms due to the pandemic. I would highly recommend this community to others. The community knew my dad by his first name. They were very genuine with the care they provided. The staff worked well with us.

The place seemed out of date and in need of updates. Staff all seemed friendly with the residents. The rooms seemed small and with a ‘dorm refrigerator’ as the only kitchen appliance just not a good fit.

Did Not Provide All Levels Of Care Needed
When touring communities we were looking at what levels of care they offered. What we were looking for was a place that as dads health changed that the community would be able to adjust his level of care so that we didn't have to move him again and disrupt his life. It was a nice community but it did not provide the levels of care that we thought we were going to need. The staff was nice and accommodating with information and the community appeared very clean and well organized.

Great Tour!
American House Sterling Heights Senior Living gave a very informative tour. Their staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. The community itself was quite nice. It is very clean and beautifully maintained. It was not quite the right fit for my Dad, the community we chose was a smaller community, we felt American House Sterling Heights Senior Living community would be a bit overwhelming for my Dad.

Clean Community!!
The tour I had taken at this community for my loved one went fine and I would recommend it to anyone. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions my mother and I had for them. They had a very clean property with lots of great amenities available to all of the residents. It was just not the right fit for her in the end decision.

I was familiar with the American House prior to visiting because my mother had stayed in one of their communities. They are all the same layout. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, but we found another place that fit my loved one a bit better.
