Review for Parkdale Senior Living
Not being there more than once or twice a week, it's hard to rate most of it, except a couple meals I saw that were a bit questionable, or maybe I should say they lacked appeal. Also, my mother is impatient and has intermittent bouts of dementia, so when she has a complaint I have to take it with a grain of salt.

Disappointed
My loved one went on hospice care shortly after moving in. They were only there a week before they passed. Unfortunately had they lived longer we most likely would have moved to a different facility.

Parkside Senior Living review
There is way too much turnover in staff at all levels which affected overall service. General areas kept clean however the room cleaning was not at an acceptable standard. Again, turnover greatly influences this question. There were some outstanding people however they were the ones to leave. Turnover was the issue with the care services. As my mother was having meals delivered to her room there was no set schedule and they showed up at all different times. Also, there were meals that were not delivered. My mother did not participate in activities. Due to all of the issues above there was no value for the cost.

Main problem was with the staff who gave out the meds. Was unorganized, and had no clue what they were doing. This is obviously very important. Like most places there were some very good caring people and some awful people.

Comments include - my mom needed a breathing machine to keep her alive. She asked for help and one person said they couldn't help because it would mess up their nails. I put her in this location while I'm was vacation. When I returned she ended up in the hospital and a few days later she passed away. Some people were helpful but some people did not help her. She called me on vacation as the people weren't helping her so I had to stop my vacation and call the director to help her as she was struggling to breathe without her machine . She passed away only a few days later due to her getting aspirating pneumonia. I highly encourage people not to go there

Mom living there less than 3 mths.
I toured the location for assisted living. Once my mom was assessed, it was determined that she needed the memory care unit. It’s a nice facility, doesn’t have that nursing home smell, and the staff is pleasant. I do feel that there aren’t enough activities done with the memory care residents, but I also am not there during the day. When I am there, they are usually just sitting around watching TV, and it’s movies they won’t understand. Music would be better. The food seems decent, with options if you don’t like what they’re serving as the main course for any meal.

The staff and facility is great. I would definitely recommend Parkdale Senior Living to others. Initially things moved a little slow, getting accustomed to the new facility and how it operated, but now things are going much smoother.

Definitely recommended
The staff have been fabulous and I have dealt with many of them already and have had great communication with them. There have been lots of issues with my mom and they have handled it all fantastic and with communication with me that has been great. The staff have helped me and my mom do what's best for her. I talk to the staff on a regular basis and they are so helpful. Move in was easy and we even had to move in a few days early because of a hospitalization and they were accommodating and got the meds all taken care of better than I had expected because we were all planning on a move in date a few days later. I could not be happier with how they are taking care of my mom. I would definitely recommend this place. Great value and great staff and the place is beautiful.

Our Experience
I will say, my mom loves it and we like most of the workers. As for management, not so good. My moms pendant doesn't work all the time. During the holidays, there was a night everybody called in and if it wasn't for a worker going from her floor to the 4th floor my mom and the rest of the people wouldn't have eaten or been taken care of. So, that's just a few problems. We loved one of the women there, she really listened and helped us a lot. She left because she was under appreciated and too much work was put on her and I've over heard some of the caregivers also want to leave. You know, I understand it's their job (caregivers) to take care of our parents, but sometimes a thank you and you're doing a great job goes a long way. This isn't only a business, its people lives. We've bought my mom batteries for her pendant that we pay for. This isn't an everyday issue, but it shouldn't be a issue at all. There's more, but I'm hoping the New Year will get better for us all. My mom has only been there for a couple of months, so were hoping it was just the Holidays. Time will tell. There has been positive also, mainly the caregivers.

our families experience
Overall it has been a good experience. They could however been better prepared when my parents moved is as there was a lack of attention to details on welcoming my parents and explaining home the facility functions. For the most part the facility is clean. Some days there is an odor in the hallways. The entire staff has been friendly. For the most part the quality of care has been good. There are a few attendants that are "just there" for the job and not attentive to the residents. Appear to be short staffed as per comments from attendants and the inconsistent times the care is given. Unfortunately my parents do not go to the dining room for meals which then most meals are served cold. Delivery times very from day to day and a few meals were not delivered. Unfortunately my parents do not get involved in available activities. Overall the value for cost is very reasonable.

Our loved one who was a fall risk, was trying to get help at night, got out of bed herself, fell and broke her leg and had a visibly bruised head The staff said they had no record of our loved one falling and stated the head bruise was likely from her bumping the bed. The fall was not reported. We would not recommend Parkdale to anyone.

I put my mom there to get assistance getting showers and not once did they help her [fee removed] a month. My mom was in pain with arthritis at least ten days with me running medicine to her. There was no communication. The staff were all nice though

My loved one is currently a resident at Parkdale Senior Living and everything has been pretty good for her at this facility so far. The care services and the meals have been very good, at least from what we've seen. The friendliness is good. The staff has been okay. It is sometimes difficult for the management team to respond to calls, texts, or e-mails. The food is okay. There are not many alternate options if you don't like what is being served.

The Parkdale is a GREAT place to live
We moved my dad in about a year ago to their assisted living. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. We ended up having to move dad into memory care there and the staff was so helpful and understanding.

First. Food for the most part is horrible. Not enough protein, no consideration re: diabetics, too much starch, very few tolerable alternatives.
Second. Caregivers for the most part try hard but they are understaffed. Administration says they have a 15 minute response time. That's close to true, but if the need for care requires 2 caregivers the first responder leaves to FIND help and that may take an hour or more.
Three: we were told that all caregivers are trained in use is Hoyer Lift. Not
true. We were told that all caregivers were trained in wound care. Not true.
Four: turnover in caregivers is exceedingly high. And training is almost nonexistent.
Five: my loved one is probably a more physically challenging resident, but we were told that there would be no problem. Wait times and lack of training and not enough caregivers are a serious problem.
Six: again, food is horrible. We provide protein drinks for him to drink at least 2 a day and I either cook meals at home or bring carry out at least 4 or more times per week so that he doesn't lose more weight.
One more thing: there have been problems with his medications. If he didn't know what he's supposed to take when he could have received and taken incorrect medications. There are residents there who have no idea what their meds should be. A problem!
One positive thing. The residents for the most part are kind to each other. Friendly. And agree that the food is horrible
