About the facility
The Renaissance

The Renaissance straddles the edge of Cleveland’s southwestern suburbs and the surrounding countryside. Will choose different next time
I had heard it was a top notch facility - My mom was here for rehabilitation after pneumonia - was she really ready to leave is my question ???? -Also-- the place is in dire need of some cleaning and refurbishing - I always felt as if I was bothering the floor staff when inquiring how my mom was doing - Yes there were a few aides etc that were nice - but many seemed unhappy - Is this the covid burnout I don't know ?- but I do know I would not choose the Renaissance again if needed.

So Far I'm Happy
The food is good. They have a lot of amenities. The Renaissance is a a good place. Most people are happy here. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. They have walking paths through the woods, and buildings, fitness center, swimming pool, and more for the residents to choose from for activities. They have nursing care if needed. They even have a beauty shop and a barber shop. There is a Grand room with all types of newspapers.

its very good being here at the renaissance
It's a nice facility, when we get back to normal this facility is excellent. They have a good covid plan in place. The apts are a good size, and the food is ok but before covid, it was a lot better. I would recommend this facility to others.

Wonderful independent living
My parents moved into the independent living a little over 2 years ago. My mother passed away shortly after unexpectedly. The staff and fellow residents were extremely supportive to my father during this difficult time. I can’t say enough about the staff from the front desk to the dining room. Everyone is very professional along with being thoughtful. If your looking for outstanding food this is your place. The dining room offers many different dishes nightly along with soup, salad, and don’t forget desserts. They make me feel at ease when I leave that my father is in good hands. Keep up the good work!!!

Poor treatment
Our Father received very poor treatment within the skilled nursing facility at The Renaissance. Numerous falls and the development of a stage III bed sore made the last few weeks of his life very uncomfortable. I would not recommend The Renaissance to any family looking for a safe and caring facility for an aged family member.

Poor Treatment
Our family would not recommend the skilled nursing facility at The Renaissance. The staff to patient ratio is poor and many staff are not skilled with adaptive equipment needed by many residents. Our Father fell four times, hitting his head with each fall. Furthermore, he developed a stage III bed sore due to sitting in urine for long periods of time.

Don't send your loved one here!
It's really sad when you lose a loved one because of medical incompetence. My dad was brought to this facility for rehab after having hip surgery, and left a few days later in an ambulance with a severe UTI, which had basically been ignored by the staff. Three weeks later he was dead. I filed a complaint with the state, and when they came to complete an inspection, there was no wrongdoing found ON THAT DATE. Ummm......what about the dates when my dad was there??? I would not recommend this place to anyone, and feel horrible about picking it for him in the first place. There was no sense of urgency when we requested that my dad be tested for a UTI, and even though they passed the inspection, I will hold them accountable for the rest of my life.

Nice looking place, but not right for Mom
This place was a bit smaller than what Mom was looking for, and she really was not interested in a community that included care of any sort. She wanted a community with residents that are as active as she is. It was a nice looking place in general, and the staff were friendly, but it wasn't the atmosphere Mom was looking for.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Ohio regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Ohio regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored The Renaissance 6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
