Doing pretty well
He seems to be doing pretty well. I know he has had some difficulties adjusting initially, but things are working out pretty well so far. I just left him not too long ago and he was sitting in the dining room getting ready to eat.

This facility has some potential. It looks like it used to be a motel. With individual room units close to the mountain, lovely trees and singing birds, it is a good location. When we visited, several residents were cheerfully mingling outside or playing a game at a picnic table. However the place needs a lot of renovation. The quoted price, $2500-$3000/mo, seems high in light of the facility's condition. The representative mentioned that many residents are "low income", and so are subsidized by a government program, Arizona Long Term Care. I believe that is their target market. Otherwise they could never charge that price, the same as some much nicer facilities. This subsidized care could be a good solution for some low income folks.

With no pesky job to get in the way, retired folks have the time to pursue anything their hearts desire. That sounds...
