Has a nice, smaller homey feel, but the facility is very old and shows it. $250 assessment fee is not a good idea.

This community is wonderful I can't say enough wonderful things about them. The community itself is very lovely exceptionally clean and well maintained. As soon as you walk in the sense of being at home and welcomed pours over you. The staff is wonderful extremely nice and welcoming. I personally don't drive so I needed a community that was close to public transportation. My aunt loves the food here honestly she loves everything about the place. I am extremely pleased with our choice and would recommend them.

Better Choice
After having the rug pulled out from under us I was nervous that it would happen again but this place is the complete opposite. The staff is wonderful here very nice and kind and attentive but most importantly honest. My mother in law has dementia and Alzheimer so she eats the food but whether or not it's good I can't say for sure. They do offer activities however she is unable to do any of them. The most important thing to me is she is receiving the best care she can get here and she is safe.

When Having A Tour
This community was close to me and I liked where it was. They have a fabulous chef and I saw some of the food on the menu that the staff were complimenting on. They are a little expensive. I looked around and wanted a place where there are more nationalities with the staff.

Not a bad community
The main concern I have with this community is that there is a large piece of furniture partially blocking the doorway in my mom's shared room and they do not want to seem to move it. The community is clean and mom seems to like the food. They offer some activities and outings. I would recommend this community.

Good community but pricey
My father-in-law is a resident here. They offer a lot of socialization and he is getting involved in activities. He is a finicky eater and he appreciates that they offer an alternative menu. They could improve their prices, it is rather expensive. They do offer significant discounts and coupons on various things in the Clipper Magazine. We did not know this upon moving in and other families informed us.

The Chelsea gets my recommendation
The staff are very nice, approachable and responsive. Mom seems to like the food. They do offer a variety of activities. The community is clean and well maintained. This is a smaller community and it seems to work well for memory care residents.

They had so much copassion and were very caring.
For the time that she was was there they took excellent care of my loved one. The staff and the management treated her so much better in those three weeks than the place she lived for five years did. They had so much copassion and were very caring. I wish we had made the move sooner.

My Friend Had A Pleasant Respite Stay Here
My friends respite stay with very well. Overall it was a good place for her. They have a lovely staff here, they were nice and caring. It was an adjustment for her, but she had a nice routine down. She enjoyed going down for the meals. The meals were nice, the residents enjoyed them. She would sit with a lovely group of lady, and she talked about them all the time. I knew she was nice and being cared for well here. This is a great community I would recommend.

Survey
The staff at The Chelsea are so friendly and caring and bend over backwards to make my mom, Katherine [Removed], feel comfortable and at home, especially Lisa [Removed] and Michele [Removed] & Patricia, the Activities Director. Lisa made sure my mom was at a table for her meals, where the residents were more sociable and outgoing, as my mom is rather shy at first, but then does feel more comfortable, as she gets to know others.

Very friendly, caring staff!
So far our experience with The Chelsea has been a good one! It's a nice looking, clean community, and eveyrone here has been very friendly! I've been particularly impressed by the aide staff. They're very caring and calm, and they never get irritated or raise their voices, they treat the residents with dignity. I also appreciate that they remain in constant contact with the families regarding care decisions and anything else that comes up.

Seems like a nice place
Overall things have gone well at The Chelsea. The staff are all very friendly, and they do a good job with communication and keeping my family in the loop. The facility itself is well run, clean, and they seem to take good care of their residents. One complaint I have is that they could stand to have higher quality hospital type beds for the residents who are more bedbound.

Stress Free Transition for Senior Living Facilities
A place for Mom; Annie Prusich helped my family at a time when we were not sure what would be the best move for her. Annie helped in finding a place by contacting several senior living facilities that handled memory care for dementia and Alzheimer clients. She was great in making us feel that this would be the best step to take instead of allowing our Mom to live alone with minimal care, anxiety and loneliness she experienced every day. With interviewing many places, my sisters and brothers with an intense decision choose the best facility that would be able to care for our Mom. Kristin at the Chelsea of Jenkintown has been and still is the most wonderful advisor; she is patient, kind and always available to answer questions and she also made this transition error free. We were very fearful the weekend before we placed my Mom at Chelsea; we were expecting our Mom to be angry at us for placing her in a facility but to no avail she is much happier, more relaxed and stress free. She now has several friends and this week she had her hair done which she hasn't had a haircut in seven years. We now enjoy visiting our Mom knowing that she is happy, pleasant and safe at theChelsea of Jenkintown. I would recommend this senior living facility to other families in need of care for their family members. I would like to thank Annie at Mom's Place and Kristin at Chelsea and her staff for making this a seamless transition.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Pennsylvania regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Pennsylvania regulations for Assisted Living.
