Our tour at Sunrise Highland Park was great. We got to see different areas within the facility and were able to ask questions of our tour guide, who was well informed. We got a good feel for the place. Our loved one just didn’t qualify to go there.

This was a better value for us, but they didn't have a large male resident population. In addition they didn't have a lot of activities geared towards men.

A Warm Community That Invites You In, But You Have to Take The Steps
All of the staff are very friendly. Whether you are working with the care staff, desk staff, kitchen, dining room, or activities staff they are very welcoming and open.
The building is older, and this is what drew my loved one to the community.
The activities are varied each day. Each resident will receive a newspaper to remind them of the activities, meal times, and funny comments.
The meals are well balanced and bland in taste. There are always condiments on the table to spice the food up if the resident would like. There are menus posted in advance for the residents to see. There is ice cream, cakes, cookies, and pies everyday for dessert options and these are extrandoarily good.

We chose Sunrise community based on the welcoming feeling we received right away and the knowledgeable staff that made us aware of the services available at Sunrise. Also the meals and dining service is a five plus.

I think the smallest room option that my mother would want here is a 1 bedroom configuration.
After talking with my wife, I think this location is a benefit - its about a 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk so, in the event that my mother really needs us to visit, its not a problem for us to pop over.
I think the facility itself is alright, though its certainly expensive for the amenities offered (no pool, limited dining, some general purpose space) - its certainly the location that contributes more to the price IMO.
Additionally, I don't think the the existing community residents are a good match for my mother - they are definitely more sedentary and it will remind her too much of a nursing home.
All in all, there are better options at this price point.

Worst job experience
This is this only job I have ever worked that I have had to go through so much trouble to get paid. It is now January 2021 and I started officially at the end of October 2020. The reason I am leaving review is because I feel I am being retaliated against for quitting. I am now in a bind with my school because I counted on that money to pay for this spring semester. I hope everyone else has a better experience.

MY mom has lived in this community for 2.5 years. She stared in Assisted living and in now in memory care. Through every phase, the incredible staff has gone above and beyond to keep my mom happy and safe. The atmosphere is very warm and homelike. Senior staff is always available to resolve any concerns. My ninety-six-year-old mother has been a resident for 1.5 years and the experience has transformed her life.
