For nearly 25 years, Arden Courts Memory Care has catered to the special needs of individuals with memory loss. Staffed by specially trained caregivers, Arden Courts cares for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. We recently toured Arden Courts Northbrook as our family is trying to make the difficult decision of finding the right place for our aunt. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The facility was clean, comfortable, and well cared for. Everyone we met was so friendly and kind;
you could tell they loved their residents.
[name removed] was especially wonderful to work with. She was very understanding of what our family is going through and how emotional and difficult it is to consider putting someone you love into a care facility. She listened to our concerns, answered all of our questions, and never made us feel rushed or pressured. Her compassion and understanding really meant a lot to us.
This is not an easy process for any family, but our visit to Arden Courts Northbrook gave us a sense of comfort and reassurance. We truly appreciate the kindness we were shown and are grateful for the time Cathy took to help us through such a difficult decision.

Compassionate care that honors the person behind the disease
My mother, [name removed], lived at Arden Courts during the final years of her life with Alzheimer’s disease. I appreciate, to this day, that the staff saw that she was more than her diagnosis. To her family, [name removed] was an artist, a musician, a mother, and a woman with a lifetime of stories. At Arden Courts, they recognized the importance of music for her and encouraged the parts of her that remained, as her memory faded.
I wrote [name removed] Playlist, a memoir about my mother’s life and our family’s experience with Alzheimer’s. Arden Courts has welcomed me back as an author and presenter. I appreciate this full-circle moment in my life. I have been warmly welcomed and given opportunities to share [name removed] story, speak about preserving family memories, and connect with residents, families, and caregivers.
I am thankful for the care my mother received and for Arden Courts’ continued devotion to seeing the person behind the disease. Fifteen years later, I still remember the kindness shown to [name removed].

A visit with my wife
I was able to visit with my wife this morning and brought our dog as a surprise. Everyone including the staff was thrilled to see “Mack”. The visit seemed to cheer everyone up especially my wife. Thank you Arden Courts!!

Quality care with a top notch staff.
The staff were very friendly and personable. They took the time to interact with me when I would visit. The put together nice parties and the Christmas party for the whole family was wonderful. My mother passed away in December, but I thought it was a nice gesture that the director came to her wake. The staff really liked my mother and were broken up when I went there to collect her belongings.

Things were going well until a management change a few months ago. Currently, there is a resident nearby who frequently becomes very distressed and vocal, which can be unsettling for others. It may be beneficial for her care needs to be reassessed to ensure she is receiving the appropriate level of support and supervision for both her well-being and the safety and comfort of other residents.

friendly, warm community
The 4 community wings which allows a smaller community, the large out door area, lots of space to walk in building, the very kind staff who know all the residents by name, the single rooms for each resident. Improvement: the food. More fresh fruits and vegetables.

Finding a Gem in the Memory Care Madness
The front desk staff is nice and the Director is great. Most of the staff that actually takes care of the patients are very caring and good. A male nurse I wasn't thrilled with but other than him most staff was supportive and kind.

A caring competent home for the rest of his life.
My husband had dietary restrictions which were recognized and followed by all those who dealt with meals and snacks. He required extra attention to toileting needs which were managed by staff as required. The activities he could attend were appropriate to his interests. In general the overall care was excellent. The staff was always patient and met his needs with care and knowledge.

Would highly recommend
Absolutely a 5 PLUS for all 8. My husband was in there a year with a two trips to the er. The caregivers in his area could not have been more caring and supportive of him and our whole family. They became family to us. They were like that to everyone. The atmosphere was bright with a lot of activity going on.
Can not say enough wonderful things about Arden from the administration to those who kept the place spotless.

My mother was at Arden Courts for the past 2 1/2 years before moving to a nursing home. Very caring staff, lots of activities, and excellent communication with my sister and myself. We appreciate all that they did for her to make her time there enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Caring staff!
A good point is that the executive director came to brookdale to meet my mother. He takes a very hands on approach with the residents and really seems to put their best interests first. Most of the staff that I have had interaction with have been wonderful. They seem to enjoy what they are doing and are very good with the residents. They keep them busy. My concern was they list her laundry when she moved in but they did find some other clothes for my mother. I felt the marketing director was overwhelmed at times. But that is to be expected.
