The staff here are very friendly and accommodating. Sometimes she gets a little too much care and does not have a lot of privacy, but they really are great at what they do. When activities were going on, they had a ton offered. The residents are now locked in their rooms and nothing is goi

Attractive building, poor management
The building is lovely and very clean. I hear complaints, from my relative, that the food is mediocre and high fat, posted events are regularly cancelled, and health care is erratic (doctors only visit occasionally, it is difficult to make an appointment, there is no private office so "consultations" frequently take place in the lobby or hallways). The staff turnover is disturbingly frequent. During intense covid, the restrictions were high, however very few residents got ill and no-one died. Bravo to the team, who immediately resigned when it appeared the emergency was over. Many staff have left since then. It leaves me wondering about the quality of the senior management or owners.

No adequate knowledge for the job
I went for a visit at the harbor area and the one who was doing the activities with the residents keeps on coughing. Didn’t even use the hand sanitizer. I was there for more than an hour and noticed that she is a chain smoker. I asked the one who was assisting my mom about her and they said she always do that and goes out multiple times in a day. I think management should take a look at this matter. More importantly her health issue. I just want my mum and the rest of the residents there to be safe at all times.

When activities were going on, they had a ton offered. The residents are now locked in their rooms and nothing is going on. We put her here because she is such a social person and wanted to make friends and get out and do things, but now she is lonely. It is no fault of Prince of Peace Manor, they are just following the government rules.

Wonderful place with amazing staff
Prince of Peace Manor has the most amazing staff. They go over and beyond what is expected of them. They are so caring and loving to all of the residents. They truly become their family. My mom and dad were both residents there and the care that they received was better than what anyone could ever ask for. My dad passed away this past year, and the staff have made this transition so much easier for my mom. They check on her regularly, get her involved in activities, or just sit and talk with her if she needs it. I have never experienced better more loving people. I would recommend POP Calgary to anyone in a heart beat. Thank you so much for all that you do. We love you all so much!

OK
The rooms are pleasant and the building is nicely designed. Everything is clean. The staff are kind and current management is proactive about Covid. The meals are boring and high calorie. The event list was a fiction long before covid struck - many were announced then cancelled, including shopping trips. My mom lives there -she is safe and clean but bored stiff, and was so before covid.

Prince of peace
Prince Of Peace is an absolutely wonderful place for seniors to live in. Their staff are very helpful caring and have done a spectacular job during this Covid crisis. They have taken such good care of all of the residents during this terrible time and they need to be commended for all of their help and care. My mom lived there for 2 1/2 years until she passed at the age 96 and she enjoyed every minute of it and the staff were so caring to her. ThankYou everybody for all of your help and your care and your compassion

Can't Say Enough Good Things
This is a first class place for a person to reside. My mother moved in at 96 years of age and just passed away at 98.5. When we moved her in, her expression was "what did I do to deserve this?". The staffing is wonderful and nothing was too much for them to do in order to make mom's stay as pleasant as possible. As her needs changed, they were always there to help out. In addition, the other wonderful part is the food. It is made from scratch by their chef and is a wonderful part of living at Prince of Peace. We are truly thankful to ALL staff for their care of seniors.

THANKS
My name is [name removed]. My DEAR BROTHER [name removed] was at Prince of Peace for 5 and 1/2 years. The reason was congestive heart failure lived over 30 years that no longer allowed him to 'accurately' take care of his own living needs. [Name removed] was bright and gentle and funny and KIND - MORE than KIND. He was very resistant to living at Prince of Peace - he did not want to be in 'CARE.' [Name removed]was a talented painter. Within a month [name removed]had 'found his place.' He was making and distributing BEAUTIFUL Christmas cards made at his own hand. He was painting and drawing and sharing his WORK with both residents and staff who LOVED IT. HE shared it GENEROUSLY. Many of [name removed]'s works will hang and live for a long while around the hallways of Prince of Peace - and HE would THANK YOU for that. In the 5 and 1/2 years that MY DEAR [name removed] was at Prince of Peace he never ONCE had a moment to moan or complain - NO JOKE. He LOVED the staff and the residents whom he knew and they LOVED HIM. As his SISTER and appointed caregiver I 'watched carefully' for his CARE and NEVER ONCE had a reason to worry - INDEED I had many and many and many reasons to gently say, 'THANK YOU.' [Name removed]made many friends who will MISS HIM DEARLY - as I will do too. The STAFF will miss him too . . . HE became an 'ambassador' for Prince of Peace - explaining to frightened newcomers how it would be OK. He was a MASTER at that. To EVERYONE at Prince of Peace - THANK YOU from [name removed] and from his LOVING SISTER [name removed]. YOU made his WORLD GENTLE and KIND until the VERY END. AFTER that YOU were ALL around ME and gently HELPFUL - THANK YOU. the PRACTICAL side of ME now - The building is beautiful and beyond CLEAN. The dining facilities and FOOD are great - changed up all the time. LOTS of STUFF to do everyday if you choose - library, craft centre, Gin Rummy, 'sing-alongs', bridge, choirs coming in to share - away to WalMart or Co-op on the bus if you are able to do that - [name removed] LOVED IT - it goes on and on as YOU choose. LOVELY Christmas party and banquet. LOVED IT with [name removed]- many times. Every birthday and important date acknowledged and celebrated with staff. STAFF - so much to say for so many GENTLE FOLKS. No matter what the call - no matter what is needed or wanted the STAFF is and has been AMAZING - totally trained and knowledgeable in 'medical things' and then beyond that - WARM and GENEROUS and FUNNY in the most respectful of ways. KUDOS to YOU my FRIENDS! THANKS Prince of Peace Manor. Much LOVE, See you soon to find MY FRIENDS again. [Name removed]

From the first time I set foot in the place to my last I knew we had made the right choice. Mom was made to feel right at home, treated with the utmost respect, dignity and more importantly kindness we as children have come to expect. When I reflect upon Prince of Peace a beautiful facility, good food, superb personal and medical care and excellent staff come to mind. If you or a loved one is in need of a new home I highly recommend Prince of Peace.

A great place to have a loved one cared for.
The marketing team is fantastic. Angie went out of her way to make my Mom and family comfortable and to be sure we had nothing to worry about during the move. The dining facilities are excellent.

The decision was easy
I was looking for a place for mom, so with the help of a JustforMom consultant, she told me about Prince of Peace (POP). From the first time I walked through the door to have a viewing I was impressed. Staff knew the names of each resident, asked how they are and we kept our conversation going as well. The chefs try their best to be creative with food and while you can't please everyone, there are lots of options. My mom is thrilled with her apartment. The nursing staff check in on her regularly, administer meds, etc. As a family we made the right decision and mom is happy. That to me is what is really important.

Check out other homes.
When my mother arrived, her room had the smell of urine and the shower was visibly dirty. This was despite the room being empty for at least several days. A visitor that came regularly to visit was never made to feel welcome. Communication between the various departments was poor. Overall the facility looks clean but that's all the positive I can say. Tours are show time.

It's very good. However, they have had their own challenges.
It's very good. However, they have had their own challenges. It's very clean, and the staff is very friendly. I am having a meeting with the director, because of a concern of the level of activity in the last 3 months. I get that people take vacations in the summer, but the quality and the lack of activities in the last three months, has been concerning for me. The one thing I don't like is that the director is always in her office, instead of out and about. The marketing manager and the nurses you see all the time. Other than that it is a quality residence. One of the reasons I picked it because it's bright and airy, and very clean. I think the food is pretty good, they have a salad bar, and fresh fruit, and they make muffins for them. But when I go it's terrible, but mom doesn't complain. They are one of the best priced places in the area, and I think you definitely get your money's worth.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Alberta regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Alberta regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Prince of Peace Manor 3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
