Do Your Homework!
Glenwood Village of Overland Park, Never Again!
Ask for specific details from Dining, Nursing Care, Doctors, and Management!
Mom had a fall that could have been prevented! Drs and staff members said she was fine. I could tell something was wrong I asked several times to for an MRI, the doctor said she did not need one that the Xray that was done in her room was fine.
Mom had to go to the hospital for a high heart rate a couple of weeks later. The doctor at the hospital asked me when my mom break her back. I let them know of her fall they asked me why she was not taken to the hospital; I told them they told me she was fine, they showed me her MRI that had I believe had 3 broken bones in her back.
Watching her the next few weeks was heart breaking!!!
Unfortunately, this is the end of my story.

Super friendly and accommodating to get you in... then nothing. Once you have signed the contract they drop the act.
The food issue has to do with staffing- they have been days when the cook doesn't show up. Or at least that is what we have been told. The activities offered are underwhelming.
We are also in a weird situation. My aunt has dementia and was in memory care. After a month she "tested out" of memory care into AL. She rapidly declined in AL and is currently in rehab at Stratford Commons for the next 3 weeks after a week in the hospital.
Her most recent fall occurred just after a phone call with the director & nursing director threatening to kick her out due to her incontinence. We were up front prior to her move that as far as we knew she was completely incontinent.

Great place for the right patient
We took my mom to Glenwood a month after I had toured and we were happy with her room and the staff. Our problem was that my Mom started to go downhill rapidly and so she needed a higher level of care. I would definitely recommend putting Glenwood on your list to look at especially if your family member just needs some assistance and cannot make it at home anymore but if you see that your Family member is declining Fast then Glenwood might not be the best fit. Everyone’s situation is different and so I’m not sure how much help my review is but the staff are really friendly and Amy who runs the Facility is great and easy to talk to and is always there to help. Unfortunately our Moms dementia came on so rapidly that once she was in it was within a month we knew we needed to take her to a much more intensive facility. Glenwood had no part in her decline and did all they could it’s just sometimes things don’t work out.

I really liked the staff and thought they were generally pretty responsive to needs and questions. The move in was very easy. The food was more mixed. Probably middling quality. Overall, I would recommend this facility to others.

Nowhere is perfect but the staff genuinely care and I know my mom is safe.
The staff at Glenwood Village are very nice, and they want to take care of everyone. Nowhere is perfect. But they genuinely like my mom and try to meet her needs, even when she is being unreasonable.

Mom is happy
It is a smaller place so it is more comfortable and personalized. The staff is really friendly, it feels like one big family. They know the residents all by name. The food is excellent - I have eaten here many times. The chef is fantastic. Mom is picky and she loves the food so that says a lot. She has a studio apartment and it works out great for her, especially for the value. She gets free wifi and basic cable. The atmosphere is very light and bright - it reminds me of a little hotel and does not feel like a facility.
I would definitely recommend Glenwood Village. Mom is very happy here.

Exceptional and Genuinely Caring Community!
We searched and visited well over a dozen senior communities looking for the right place to place my dad in memory care, and we were immediately impressed by both the staff and community. We had an extremely difficult (though not unusual) initial transition, but it very quickly became a joy to see how everyone on the staff helped him feel comfortable and appreciated. Everyone we've worked with, from the top on down, has been exceptionally and genuinely caring, honest, and helpful. What could have been a very unpleasant experience has been wonderful and a huge relief!

It's a wonderful place for our seniors
My mother has been at Glenwood village about two months, she already has a group of people she calls friends! She is very happy with her apartment it has everything she needs and wants. The food is delish and she is always telling me what they had she also said they will fix her something else if she wants. Great experience at Glenwood for our family especially for my mom!!

Tour of Glenwood Village
I toured Glenwood Village of Overland Park and I noticed that they had a lot of carpet and the rooms were on the second floor. I didn't care for that because my loved one would have to take the elevator to get to his room, the dining room, etc.. All the rooms were carpeted with no choice of preferred flooring. The showers also weren't as accessible as the community we chose.

Glenwood Village an Excellent Place for Mom
I would highly recommend the community to others. They take good care of my loved one. There are three meals a day served in the dining room and the community will deliver to the resident's rooms if needed. There is a nice variety of food available for the residents to choose from.
The communication with the staff is good.

Come to Glenwood Village if you're looking for a great place to live.
I've been here for about 3 weeks. The employees are fun, a lot of laughs, and many residents that I've met have become friends. The physical therapist is so nice and has helped me so much. The food is excellent and I enjoy eating my meals in the dining room. I think the theater is fantastic. I was 9 years old when "Gone With the Wind" came out and I can't wait to see it again in those comfy chairs. I'm looking forward to seeing it again!
