Our families experience
My honest answer is that Mom did not have a great or even decent experience at Oaks. Her clothing and other valuables were often (over and over) stolen from the workers, who had no accountability as to their theft, by management. In addition, the food they served was really horrible! Many days they served potato chips as a 'vegetable'. The bottom line is that after Mom repeatedly said to me: 'I feel so violated.' (From the ongoing thievery), I chose to move her to Legacy Village, where we have had a much better experience. I feel that the problem originates from the top.
The Executive Director at Oaks was always behind locked/closed wood door; completely unavailable and not engaged.

Oaks is merely MEDIOCRE.
Food is not nourishing and usually almost inedible - the taste and quality is so very bad.
Thievery is so common and not even commented upon by management.
My Mom has said to me so many times: ‘I feel so violated.’ (From the stealing of even the smallest of her belongings.)

Respite care for my Mom
From start to finish, what a GREAT experience! My 94 yo mom needed a place to stay for 2 weeks while we were gone. This was the perfect choice! The staff are incredibly friendly and caring. It shows on the faces of the residents as well. Everyone seemed happy and welcoming. We would definitely do this again and would also prioritize this facility if more long term care is needed. Family Atmosphere at the Oaks at Cedar Shoals
We are most pleased! Excellent care; well maintained; personable/friendly staff. They offer weekly trips for shopping and entertainment; Transportation to medical appointments within Athens area; birthday parties; games and in-house group activities; weekly cleaning; daily trash pickup. Community Tour
We had a great tour. The woman who ran the place was incredible. I felt that she would have been a lot of the reason we might have chosen them. The facility had a small-town feeling, seemed super clean, and we witnessed them treating everybody with respect. It was not as grand or modern of a facility, but my first impression was a positive one.

The facility is very clean and everyone has been super friendly during our experience here so far. The food is repetitive, especially for breakfast so they could definitely add more of a variety to the menu. Overall we would recommend Oaks at Cedar Shoals to others looking.

Their communication has been really good, we think they went beyond making the residents feel comfortable. They assist in anyway possible especially during the pandemic. They made our loved ones transition very nice, it was awesome and we are very appreciative

so friendly and accommodating
The strongest quality that Morningside of Athens has is that they are so friendly and accommodating to the residents that live there. They really think about how things are going to affect them. For example, my dad had a lot of his family come to visit. When they left, someone from Morningside called me planning to do something special for my dad that afternoon, as he was feeling a little low and lonely after they left. So they just do things like that to go the extra mile, think of how things are affecting the residents, and proactively think of ways to make them happy.

I love the stafff and the residents here are to die for. Not only have I visited this community in Athens, Ga I have also visited one of their sister companies as well. They both are great places for wonderful residents to live and enjoy wonderful food, fun and so much more.

Only a brief stay, but they did a wonderful job
Our loved one was unfortunately only here for a very brief time, but I think they did a great job overall. They were very very accommodating, and worked amazingly well with a hospice service to make sure that his last days were comfortable.

Great Place!
Morningside of Athens is a wonderful place. It is a smaller facility with 40 suites. It is a lot more cheery than other places I visited (not so hospital like or dark and gloomy). The director Teresa is fabulous and did everything in her power to make things acceptable for my mother. I would highly recommend this facility to someone.

Mom's Stay
They were great for what my mom needed. She was never happy anywhere but the Morningside crew did their best. The facilities were very nice and clean. They offered many activities (which mom would not do) and the meals looked appetizing!! It was very convenient for us and we were able to visit all hours of the day. They tried to help mom feel good and they made sure she was up and dressed daily. We appreciate all they did!

Looked very nice
We toured this location when we were looking into options for our loved one. Everything here looked very good, it was a well kept, clean facility, and the staff were all very friendly and professional. This was originally our first choice, and I even had a deposit down, but in a last round of searching we found one just as nice that was much more convenient for family members to get to. We love the place we found, but I think they would have done just as good a job here!
