Great Relocation from a Home of 60 Years to The Oakmont!
We had to relocate our 92 year young mom, just about a year ago, from a home our dad built 60 years ago and although it was a tough emotional transition The Oakmont staff made the rest of the move almost painless. We all know moving can be tough but once mom was settled The Oakmont staff was and still is amazing in all aspects of her care. Mom loves the food, the wait staff is so kind and thoughtful and when we visit we enjoy getting a meal with her in the beautifully appointed dining room. The health care staff is very thoughtful, attentive and we are assured she is being properly looked after. The concierge, maintenance staff, activities staff and ALL others have been so kind to her and she is happy in her surroundings along with all the beautiful residents that she sees daily. Lots more could be said, but for now, Thank You to The Oakmont!

Highly recommend!
The staff is very welcoming when we visit. They encourage us to visit at anytime. We see the staff being nice to other residents as well. Staff seems to like their jobs. We've been there about a year now. They were very helpful throughout the move in process. We felt they were honest, professional and kind during a very stressful time for our family. They do a good job of encouraging residents to engage in the many activities they offer.

huge waste of money and energy
this was an awful experience for our whole family. The cost versus the care had such a tremendous difference in quality. The care was well below what we would have anticipate and the food and activities were the worst. My mother sat all day with very little to do. The television is used to babysit it seems. We had to move her. The company seems to be going from bad to worse.

Our Experience
My loved one is a fall risk and doesn't sleep much at night due to Dementia/Sundowners. The fact that it has taken 5-6 weeks with 4 falls to figure out a routine has been extremely frustrating. I not only pay Oakmont, but a night time caretaker- which I'm in the process of weaning so Oakmont can be the sole provider - which will raise the price due to needing more care. Reading the contract thoroughly is imperative. Ask exactly how much care can be provided according to your needs. Everyone has expectations that our loved ones will receive the care that we provided for them. Building a team with the Administration and the Caregivers is critical.

terrible
I had lunch today with the daughter of a close friend who had her mother here. She shared with me that they moved her from Oakmont to another facility because of the lack of proper care. In chatting, I mentioned that I had read on a popular, neighborhood website a family describing their horrible experience with Oakmont including residents from the memory care escaping. I realized it was she that wrote the tremendously popular article describing her experience. The public comments to her article were filled with gratitude as to the warnings and experiences shared. I shared what I witnessed when I had visited her mom and that it left me deeply concerned. When we arrived, we could not find any employees to help locate our friend and the door to her room was locked. We finally found someone to open the door. She had been locked in her room. I don't believe legal? We are a race that doesn't typically speak Spanish and apparently this left two workers comfortable making degrading comments

Oakmont Review
The staff caregivers are very kind, but there needs to be more of them The management team is just OK. I think they have certain protocol that they need to abide by which is not always good because in memory care there are people like my mom who is just starting to forget a few things and then there are the people who are disasters and can't do anything and yelling scream all the time, even in the dining room, and it is hard to control them . The med tech are great. They do a very good job at administering medicines to the residence that is not overwhelming for them. Sorry to have to report this but I think it's important. My mom has now lived there [number removed] days and she has fallen 4× one in which we probably should've taken her to the emergency. She hurt herself pretty bad her doctor at Kaiser can't keep up with my calls and emails so they just recently put her in hospice. We are currently using , the Hospice company that Oakmont Sr Living has recommended that they use Best Hospice Providers and they are doing a pretty good job

make this your last resort
The time money and stress caused by my grandma living here was extreme. Poor quality of care, lack of staff, lack of experience and training, residents locked in their rooms with staff claiming ignorance about how that happened when they hold the keys. Escapes not reported. All around a complete mess of a facility and at a tremendous cost The positive reviews should absolutely be ignore especially "[name removed]" who tried multiple times to post a fake review on another platform. Many many families have fled this facility due to horrendous care. please look at reviews on all platforms you can as they are honest and awful. No experience is required to be a caretaker despite paying top dollar for care. Staff shortages mean the actives never happen and your loved one will be walking around aimlessly or seated in front of the tv for hours on end watching some show they never wanted to watch. Please look elsewhere.

Horrible place. Horrible
Oakmont has had ample opportunity to provide incredible service and care to the residents but ignored the many complaints. New uniforms do not suddenly mean better care when the care givers are still the same. Employees provide care with unrelated backgrounds such as McDonald's. Not for these prices. Your reputation is terrible for just cause. Even when the alarming reality of what was happening in Oakmont was fully presented to you, they ignored the facts, including that your employees speak horribly about management, residents and even families in Spanish. Do you really believe that these people are providing quality care when you're not around to watch? Let me assure you they are not. Food was so awful that we supplemented my moms food constantly. A friends mom on assisted living has meals brought in daily because of same complaints. When we asked for meals to be adjusted in any way we were advised that they are frozen meals reheated. All in all a horrible experience

Shocking quality of care
Oakmont took over a mess from Sunrise and somehow made it worse. My family member arrived in April and I am relieved to say that we moved out last week. While there are a handful of caring and competent caregivers and staff, it is wholly inadequate to compensate for the absent leadership, structure, process, and communication. The range of issues we've had span a wide array of critical safety concerns: 1) Unresponsiveness to pull cords and pendants 2) Confusion & miscommunication on medication orders 3) Unreported falls/injuries 4) Inadequate food resulting in rapid weight loss 5) Failure to test symptomatic residents for covid, to immediately provide isolation space, to notify families. Given the price tag, I was hoping for not just the above safety and aspects of care, but also enrichment and activities as well. Unfortunately, I feel like we've wasted months of precious time (particularly for someone with dementia). No loved ones & families should have to go through this.

What's NOT to love? Let me tell you!
While they would like to start over with a clean slate given new owners, the toilet has not been flushed so to speak. The majority of staff have been hired with NO previous training or qualifications. Current families are moving their residents out as quickly as they can! This is due to the lack of proper care and staff shortage. Mgmt refuses to commit to a staff resident/ ratio. The rates are extremely high and if your family member needs extra care, expect the monthly rate to increase! Due to the chronic short staffed situation, many families have felt pressured to bring in their own extra help. Residents have managed to escape the facility on occasion and the families were not notified. The advertised daily activities were a huge draw but this is yet another promise that has fallen flat due to short staff. Medications are not given at the stated times they should be and many families suspect that there are several instances where the medications were not given at all.

Excellent facilities and caring staff
The staff to patient ratio seems very good. They are very attentive and kind. The place looks spotless and well kept. We have the cell number for the nurse and she is fast to respond to any questions we have. The move in was good. They gave clear instructions once we gave them the date and time. The staff is very attentive and kind.
