Meridian at Stone Creek is wonderful
Meridian at Stone Creek is wonderful. It was not a hard choice too decide to move our mom in. From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcome and comfortable. Sales Director was positive, and her energy, the relationships with the residents brought us back after touring several other assisted living homes.

The staff are very helpful! I haven't signed up for activities yet! The janitors keep the place ultra clean!. Some of the women here are not very friendly and have their own clan! The lunch and dinner are on the menu so we have choices! After eating the people sit in big room with chairs and sleep! I wondered if they were medicated or just depressed! Sometimes the place seems like a nursing home and I feel a lot of them should be in one! I spend a lot of time in my beautiful cozy teen with my cat and house plants! I' m trying to gather my supplies for artwork or yarn to crochet and also I share my yarn and other supplies to the residents when they want something I am disappointed that I don't have an oven here just a microwave! I have a small balcony with glass sliding doors I can open and sit outside I also love my beautiful bathroom! And big refractor and freezer

Very nice remodel when entering the facility. Toured the Memory care area and interacted with the residents at lunch. Viewed the Jack and Jill apartments where two residents share the bathroom. Many questions were answered and I appreciated the time and encouragement received. Will speak to the head of Memory Care [name removed] next week.

Not a place for full care
In the beginning we were very excited to move my Dad there. But unfortunately they were not able to deliver on what they told us they could do. We as a family could not trust that my Dad was being taken care of, so we made sure one of us were there every day. And Sundays were the worst. Once we figured out that on Sundays no one would check on my Dad, give him his medicine, take him to eat or change him until way after noon I started going there in the morning. I would say it might be a great place if you don't need full care. The people were great. But way too short staffed. And the button that you have to push when you need something is beyond awful when it comes to response time. Most of the time it was at least an hour wait once you push the button. Which is absolutely unacceptable. I would highly recommend you talk to others that still live there and ask about the response times. When we complained they said there reports show it was around 11 minutes. Myself, Mom and 2 brothers were never there when it was less than 45+ minutes and on a few occasions it was over 2 hours. The lack of thought was concerning as well. My Dad was not able to walk on his own. And sometimes they would deliver meals to him. Sometimes when they delivered his meals they would put it on the kitchen counter. Um if he can't walk why would they put it somewhere where it was impossible to get? Stuff like that was very frustrating.

Meridian at Stone Creek
I wish I could say that our experience transitioning our loved one into the memory care unit at Meridian had been nothing but positive. While we as a family took every possibly measure to ensure a smooth move-in, including weeks of emotional preparation, prompt completion of all medical requirements and paperwork, and then finally, having a family member present daily which, fortunately, is why we were able to observe and make quick adjustments to the fast and severe decline in our loved one’s health. Meridian had failed to administer our loved ones prescribed medications, which resulted in severe withdrawals, sleep deprivation, and extreme emotional distress. As a result, we were forced to remove them from the facility for a week to stabilize their condition and restart the transition process. I can’t begin to tell you what it cost us as a family to remedy their negligence. All of which was completely and totally avoidable had they simply been administering the medications like we were assured they would. Unfortunately, we now know our story is not unique and have since heard from other families experiencing the same issue- not exclusively to the memory care unit- this seems to be an issue at the facility as a whole. It’s an incredibly serious thing to get so wrong. In our experience, our concerns weren't addressed or taken seriously until an entire week had passed and we were finally able get in touch with their executive director, which I’m sorry to say was only made possible by bombarding her in her office. We found her defensive attitude and lack of accountability to be unprofessional, and it is clear she did not appreciate us advocating on behalf of our loved one, however it does seem that the issue was addressed subsequently. The other serious matter that we found ourselves having to address in the very first week was the way that staff interacted with vulnerable memory care residents. On multiple occasions, family members witnessed numerous staff members being aggressive with the residents when they weren’t aware they were being observed. They were friendly and patient the moment they knew you were in the room or watching which we found to be even more of a red flag. While we have been told this has been addressed, we still remain concerned by the lack of proactive engagement from the staff, who are often seen on their phones rather than assisting patients. If you visit often you will more times than not find them sitting behind counters on their phones and only interacting with patients when approached or once again, when being observed. All the while, our family continues to have to step in to handle basic care tasks, including showering, cleaning the room, and changing the bedding. Since my loved one was not Meridians first ever resident, it goes without saying that we had not expected so much trial and error, nor would we have ever willingly volunteered them and paid to make them some sort of guinea pig. However, because change is so hard on these already vulnerable residents and their family’s, we have chosen to remain at the facility for the time being to avoid further disruptive transitions, but we are monitoring the situation closely and hope sincerely that Meridian. gets it right from here.

Would not recommend
The facility itself is great. The staff is not. The food is good we didn't do any activities, the cleanliness and size of the apartment? I would give of five. Anytime I had any questions for the staff and I called, I would never receive a call back. I would have to call multiple times or stop by the desk when I came in to see my dad. My overall experience. I would not recommend meridian stone creek to anyone.

Check Meridian at Stone Creek First for your Loved One, it could save you a lot of time looking around.
The staff, and administrative staff, personally get to know the residents and their idiosyncrasies. The memory care unit's staff interact well with the residents with a caring and respectful nature. Staff are trained to know memory care issues and potential behaviors common to MC people therefore able to make peace with the residents and in the community as a whole. I do feel there should be more staff per shift and weekends(1-2 at least) according to the acuity of the unit(I visit often). Overall, I like it a lot! The housekeeping on the unit and apartments, especially the bathrooms, could be better. Word of advice. The residents wander into each other's rooms and pick up something they like and take it with them, no malice, just a MC behavior. It's ok, usually whatever is missing turns up

A safe place
[name removed] was super helpful. He gave us lots of good information about how to get the care we needed for [name removed]. He gave us a personalized list of facilities to visit and even called ahead so that they knew we were coming. He even gave us an idea of what to look for and what questions to ask. It was all so helpful and we were able to get [name removed] into a safe facility in very short order and for a cost that we could afford. Meridian at Stone Creek was our choice because they had shared (Jack and Jill) bathrooms instead of community bathrooms, lots of walking area indoors and outside. The bedrooms are large and have lots of scheduled activities. Also, important was they accepted Medicaid Security was our biggest concern, Since [name removed[ is a wanderer/exit seeker

Very nice residence. The Meridian was beautiful inside. We enjoyed seeing residents gathered around the cozy fireplace. The rooms were newly redone on the 3rd floor. We did not view the older rooms on the 2nd floor.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Washington’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Washington’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored Meridian at Stone Creek 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
