The ownership is new and I believe the administrative staff continues to refine and improve where needed. When issues are reported, action is taken.
I would recommend them for assisted living and mild memory care. Not sure if it is the right place (yet) for severe memory care needs.

Our families experience...
I am fine with the staff, however [name removed] is not. Neither [name removed] or I feel the quality of care is good. They almost never respond to a call light, her room is always a mess and it is not her making the mess. Since she doesn't move around the room on her own and doesn't dress or undress herself it must be the staff not picking up. There is not a visit that goes by where I am not putting dirty clothes in the basket, stocking up on her incontinence products and emptying waste baskets that are not even lined with a plastic bag. Very unsanitary. As for meals, she is not please. However she is 97 and does not have much of an appetite so in all fairness I can't rate the meals. Same goes for activities, she has no interest in doing anything or to even socialize, so in all fairness I can't rate them for this. Past history tells me that things will improve for a couple months and we will be right back where we started. I have frequent visits with [name removed] and truly feel it would even be worse if I or other family members were not showing up at various times. I feel these facilities lack empathy and are out for the money. Maybe if they would pay their staff a better wage, ban personal cell phones and less group chit chat, everyone would be better.

They did not take good care of my mom. We were planning to move her and she died.
Very, very poor communication
Difficult to get in touch or even know who was in charge
Staff did not care that she was showing signs of a heart attack. Left her in bed. Soiled food on trays near her bed. Not cleared.
She had bruises from rough handling
Did not shower her or do her laundry unless we came to check and complain

Tour Review
Our family had an in person tour with McKinley Place, and the rooms were not as clean. The facility itself was just older and probably needed some refurbishing. And they didn't have multi-room apartments, as I recall. They were studios, and at the time that wasn't what we wanted. Now I know that with Alzheimer's patients, the extra rooms just give them anxiety. It's more for them to manage. They do better with less. But it also depends on what stage of the disease they're in and if they're alone or not.. McKinley Place did offer a full range of care that the others didn't, but it was much more like a nursing home.

Accommodating, friendly, and affordable
They're very accommodating, they try to do their best. They are very friendly and affordable.
They're very accommodating in the sense that my mom had a fall and broke her hip; they worked with us to make sure she received quality care. We like them.

Talk You Through the Process From the Tour Through the Sign-Up
The community was able to re-evaluate my loved one moving into the community for a bit and they were able to drop the care level which saved us some money. The community is cheerful, friendly, and helpful. It feels like you are walking in a hotel. The staff are always smiling and willing to help the residents with anything they need.
There have been a lot of activities for the residents to participate in. It appears they have holiday celebrations, and it looks like they might start having movie nights. My loved one is enjoying the food. The food is served to the residents in the dining room. There is free snacks and beverages in a different part of the community for the residents to take advantage of.

My review of McKinley Place
They are trying very hard at this community. They are having some staffing challenges as are all places but they are doing the best that they can. They have activities like bingo, arts and crafts, bible study, movie night and more for the residents to do. They also just hired new activities director so we expect more soon.

For the most part: Excellent! I have lived here almost 2 1/2 years, and do love living here a lot! The McKinley Place employees are great, especially now that Corporate has been "weeding" out the trash. The "agency" support staff leaves much to be desired...Bad attitude, lazy rude, simply do not care!! Having been in Admin. @Med. College of WI for 36+ years, I have good perceptions. Thanks!

McKinley Place review
The gentlemen [name removed] who took us on our initial tour was outstanding, which was very comforting and reassuring to our family. McKinley Place is a not a full skilled nursing facility and we were worried if our loved one ever needed more care we would have to do this process all over again, but our doctor reassured us that this is a great community. We do think the meals and dining service is pretty good, sometimes our loved one says the meat is a little tough but then other times he loves it. The activities are doing okay, they have a church service every Sunday morning which our loved one really enjoys. It is expensive but generally it is right in line with the other facilities we looked at.

Good experience
We chose McKinley Place because it was the cleanest out of the others that we looked into. The staff members were also friendly and helpful and the overall feeling when you walk in is very good, you felt comfortable being there. For my dad, the room is just the right size for him. On weekends, sometimes staffing sparse but there have been no problems. I would recommend to others looking.

I like living here — I like where my apartment is at the end. I have no complaints, I'm in my room but do go to activities I have been here three years and I've learned to like it and have recommended it to a friend who has also moved here.

The tour guide was pleasant and informative... although it took way too long for an initial tour. One of the hallways smelled of urine. Nice that it's one floor with no elevators to deal with. It felt closer to a nursing home to me. Not a good for my parents

Mom Loves it Here!
This community recently went through a total remodel and it is gorgeous! I've never seen anything like it! My mom lives here and she just loves it. The activity calendar has something for everyone. Bus trips, bingo, cooking club, exercise, etc. They have a state of the art Salon and the Dining Room is beautiful. The nurse and care giving staff are so attentive and caring, too. I highly recommend McKinley!

Best in the County!
My mother in law is 93 years old and super sharp! She needs help with getting ready for the day and is in a wheelchair. We visit her twice a week and she is always excited to talk about her friends at McKinley. [Names removed] are the best care-givers and always make sure she is happy, comfortable, and gets to the hairdresser (in house...beautiful salon)! [Name removed] has an amazing activity schedule and takes a group out for lunch once a week. The food in the dining room is excellent and the building looks and smells great. She's been there 3 years and is having the time of her life (Happy Hour doesn't hurt). My wife and I could not be happier with this home!
