Review for Ivy Park at La Palma
Looks like it another company took it over after my mom left. It's now called Ivy Park at LaPalma located on LaPalma Avenue. I loved everything about the place when it was called Sunrise, and the people, though cost would definitely be prohibitive for some. Most of the staff had been there for 10 years or more, which gives me a good indication that they are very happy to be working there.

Caring staff, mediocre food.
I would say the staff is very caring and compassionate. The facility is very clean, well maintained and attractive. It has lots of light and nice porches with places to sit. It's close to a very pleasant walking path. The food is consistently mediocre to bad and the serving times are rigid. Breakfast is at 8, lunch at noon and dinner at 5. Food service is spotty and the food is often lukewarm. I picked the place because it is 2 miles from my home and I could go see my husband often. It turned out that we need a place where we can live together where I can have a kitchen because I love to cook.

Just What We Were Looking For
When my loved one went in, they weren't in a good way. However, the staff have been able to work with my loved one to improve. The staff are good at keeping me updated on my loved one and answering my questions.
There are three meals a day served to the residents, along with snacks. They have coffee and additional beverages for the residents to choose from.
Some of the activities available include coloring, crafts, and other activities to keep the residents engaged.

The staff at Sunrise of La Palma are super friendly and helpful. The facility size is not too big that way residents will not get lost. They also have plenty of activities offered to keep them busy.

a great place for loved ones and we can trust that care that is given
Sunrise of La Palma has been a great place, from the moment we walked into the community the cleanliness just stood out we were so impressed. All of the staff members have been so friendly, the residents are up and walking around instead of just sitting in front of the television. Our loved one recently was moved over to memory care and so far it has been outstanding - there are always staff members walking around which is exactly what we wanted to see. It really just seems like a fancy hotel, we have already recommended them to other families and we will continue to do so

Loving, Caring Environment
The community is very caring, friendly, and loving towards our loved one and other residents. They do an evaluation approximately every 6 months on the residents. The community was receptive to the family's concerns about our loved one.
My loved one is enjoying the meals and snacks. Zumba, bingo, arts and crafts, gardening, field trips, celebrations, religious services, and more are some of the activities for the residents to stay engaged with.

Very Disappointed
I would recommend you make sure you know their policy on care and medication. Their policies weren't what they told me at the beginning.
My loved one didn't like the food, and there was no menu or options. The same food was offered to all residents and they don't accommodate special dietary requests.

Highly Recommend
We chose Sunrise of La Palma because we really felt comfortable here and it is a smaller community. The staff members knew all the residents by name and you can tell that they really care about them. The facility itself is also very pretty and tropical looking. The room sizes here are good. They have an activities director and I spoke with her yesterday and I really like her. She is great with the elderly residents. I would highly recommend to others looking.

Our experience with Sunrise
We chose Sunrise because they had activities for her and we wanted her to socialize and I also felt the staff would take better care of her. They were good with communication, they kept us updated by email. The rooms that we saw when we toured looked nicer than the one that she actually got. While she was here she did also have some jewelry and valuables go missing. Overall they tried their hardest under the circumstances and I would recommend them to others who are looking.

As good as home
I thought they were amazing here at Sunrise and took very good care of my dear friend. I looked at A LOT of places and this facility was beautiful. It was near a hospital and the staff greeted me and treated me like family and made me feel very comfortable. There happened to be some residents towards the front watching TV and they said to send my friend here and it is great. I would absolutely recommend to others.

Sunrise La Palma is SUPER!
Upon my first visit to the facility to gather information, I was beyond impressed! The size was a bit smaller than other Sunrise locations, and that was great! [removed], the purchase director, is beyond personable and supportive to families! [removed], the Reminiscence Director, is very helpful and manages that portion of the facility well. The staff was very polite, busy with patients and attentive to my questions! After I decided upon the facility, they were VERY accommodating to our move in, supported my mom's transition and put my mind at ease! They take very good care of her, keep her busy and monitor her eating and hygiene very well! I have been able to have friends come and visit and stay for meals, and been here for activities, too!

Great option for an independent, active senior!
Sunrise of La Palma was Beautiful! I was impressed by the community. I wanted to move there! I felt it was better suited for a senior in their 70's not a 90 year old woman like my mother. Care was extra and that equaled CHA-CHING! Sunrise was expensive but gorgeous!

Our new home for dad
I love that Sunrise feels like a home. Floors are carpeted, there's a pet dog, the food was good and the people were friendly and helpful.
Plan ahead I'd you think your loved one will need to be in the memory care area as space is limited and there is usually a waiting last.
The $$$amount I put in is for everything including meds and incontinence care and supplies, meals and rent.

An Enjoyable Full Tour
The tour I set up for myself was on time and the staff was ready to give me a full tour. It was a really good tour and they became one of the top choices. It is newer and upscale looking. The residents were nice but not as fully active from what I had seen. They had no problems with me returning with some family to have them observe the place. After consideration it was thought to be a little too fancy and would not be the right fit.
