Peace of mind!!
I have had a peace of mind since my husband has recently made the move into this community. He has been getting great quality of care and has really been adapting well into his new living environment. He has had no complaints about the food and has enjoyed participating in many of the activities they have for the residents throughout the week. Overall we have no issues and would defiantly recommend this place to anyone.
About the facility Family Choice Senior Living
Located in Anaheim, CA, not too far from Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland, Family Choice Senior Living provides senior adult with assisted living in a home-like setting. Our mission is to serve our residents with the love and dignity we would provide to a member of our own family. We are offer our clients a safe and comfortable place to live and a residential experience centered around long-term health and wellness.
We are a hybrid of a Board and Care and Assisted Living Facility. We are licensed with the State of California as an Assisted Living Facility. Originally there were two houses on the property that were joined to make one large home. We have a total of 15 rooms and 30 beds. We have several courtyards for our residents to enjoy the wonderful Southern California weather.

I toured this facility and really liked the location. Unfortunately, it is a 30 bed facility and I was looking for a smaller home-like environment for mom. I will be calling back to let them know I don't believe we are a good fit. I would recommend this facility to others, just not a good fit for us.

Guiding my father to his next journey
Family Choice 4 Anaheim is totally professional in dealing with my father's last days. Even though he was there only a week, they took fantastic care of my father. They worked with Hospice to ensure that my father was comfortable and pain-free during his last hours. Their facility is so clean and bright and they let my father shine throughout is stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who will need it.

Good choice!
So far things are going very good.We are very pleased. The people here are very nice. My brother-in-law seems to like it very well and is happy. He is out every time family visits which is good for him because usually he stays in his room. One of the first things we noticed when touring is the community smelled very clean and nice. So far we would recommend.

It did not suit us. My husband does not do well with male care givers and there were more male than female care givers. Also, as far as the size of the place, I thought it was too institutional and regimented.
He is now at a smaller place with night caregivers that is working out well.

Thumbs down.
The feel like the owner didn't tell me the truth regarding what they can do for my mom. They said they could take care of her, but they couldn't. I had to move her out within a month because they couldn't her dementia. The activities I was told about, I never saw them doing, even though I went there various times throughout the day.
It was a very clean place and the owners were very nice, but they need to be truthful in assessing the clients they take. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there! Thumbs down.

It was nice, and we liked it.
We toured here when we were looking. It was nice, and we liked it. It was clean and the people were friendly. For us the decision came down to pricing and insurance, not quality of facility, this was on par with the others.

24 hour staff, able to provide level of care my mother needs
They have waking staff - on duty, awake, 24 hours. Most of these resident care facilities do not. In California most residential care facilities have a total of 6 residents and are in homes. She can't stand, and needs incontinent care. This facility has the staff with the horse power facilities to do the incontinent care for my mother.
I also like that they have video surveillance in the rooms, to see if there is a problem.
My mother had to move from assisted living, because she is mobility challenge.
Alot of the clients at this facility are dementia challenged, so there aren't many activities.
The facility is within half a block of a fire station, a hospital, and a large medical offices complex.
The people who own this facility own a total of six facilities, and have more than a dozen years of experience in the field, so they seem to be a reliable concern going on. They got started in the business when the husband's mother had a stroke, and thought she needed more homelike care.

Sad, Not Clean - I would NOT recommend them
Not Good. My husband needs and enema almost every morning so that he can have a bowel movement. I explained this to Family Choice and they were saying "no problem! We can do that!" It turns out that these facilities are not allowed to do enemas or catheters or injections but they didn't tell me that. I get him moved in and within a week they tell me that they can't be doing this. They did try to petition the state but it got denied. It was traumatic to move him in and now I have to move him again! I had to find a place where the owner was an RN.
It's a large facility and I was thinking the more the merrier but it's just that many more people laying around. It was pretty sad, not clean, and in hindsight it was good we got out of there. I would not recommend them. Way too many people and not enough staff.

Pros: Nice home. very large, open and lots of light. Residents seem very happy. Caregiver very loving toward residents. Private room. Exercise encouraged. Socialization encouraged. Liked this place a lot! Cons: visiting hours end at 7pm.
