We would highly recommend this community for Senior living.
I would give all the categories listed a 4, because there is always room for improvement. I think after a year the food has become monotonous for my parents, and the medical staff most all have heavy accents which are difficult for the elderly residents to understand.

Delightful Visit
We are beginning the difficult transition of moving my mother to assisted living. The challenge is exasperated by the fact that my mother should be moving into a newly built villa independently, but a stoke changed that plan. Yesterday, [date removed], [name removed]invited my mother, sister, and me for lunch and a tour of Independence Village. My sister and I had previously toured the facility, but this was the first introduction for our apprehensive mother. From our names on the welcome sign to our departing words, our experience could not have been more pleasant or favorable. Lunch was excellent. EVERYONE at I.V. was kind, upbeat, and more than accommodating. [name removed] patiently helped us find the perfect apartment for mom and mom, who hasn’t smiled or talked much since her stroke, showed true animation for the first time in weeks. Having toured other facilities, my impression of Independence Village is that it is more resort-like than medicinal.This is definitely the place for mom!!

a perfect place for mom' or dad
I would rate all a 5 except value. Mom is quite content living at the Independence Village East community. The food options are varied and helpings are full. We all appreciate the staff. We consider some of them family.

The facility is clean, but the rooms are not cleaned very well.
The care is fine. Response to things is slow. Maintenence issues.
The biggest area for improvement is the food. [name removed] does what he can. For the high $, he should have access to better food and a better menu.

abuse in disguise
When I first admitted mom in this place I thought it was the right choice but I quickly realized my mistake and mom is now in a different assisted living. They are always short staff, I can't tell you how many times they forgot to order mom some food, her meds always ran out which is crazy. Mom fell on the floor one day and I wasn't called or informed about it. I learned days later when I came to visit mom and she was all bruised up and had a clot building up under her arm. They didn't even care enough to look after, after the fall to make sure she was still ok. When you do finally get ahold of [name removed] whose in charge of nursing she doesn't show any emotion whats so ever. It's like she doesn't even care. And when you talk to the lead QMA [name removed] it's the same affect but worse, she just throws me off and says I need to talk to [name removed] but it takes [name removed] sometimes days to even respond back. I wouldn't bring my parents here ever again.

Exceptional living
This community has been absolutely wonderful for our loved one. She has thrived meeting great new friends, and enjoying all the activities and amenities. The staff is phenomenal. The most caring, compassionate, attentive group, starting with the director, the front desk, housekeeping,dining room, maintenance people, all know and care so much for the residents.it is so comforting to know she is well taken care of, and happy when we leave.
So grateful she is there, and we found such an awesome perfect place.

A well maintained facility, friendly, conscientious staff. The ambassador resident program was very helpful.....
The problem we had was getting medications correctly, there has been some change in staff and this problem has been taken care of. Overall I would give each category a 5. I was in rehab my son and daughter-in-law found this place to call home, so I became a resident. Independence Village, has become my home away from home. The staff is awesome more than willing to help. Residents are friendly. It's very difficult for anyone to accept change but transition was easier than anticipated.
