Genuinely caring staff.
The staff is so up beat and pleasant from the sales manager, [name removed], the dining staff, [name removed] the activities coordinator, the wellness manager [name removed] and care staff. They talk to my mother even though she is very quiet and has some dementia. They are doing rehab which her last place would not do which made her wheelchair bound for a year and a half.
I would highly recommend Highgate at Paoli Pointe. No place is perfect but they try their best to make living there as comfortable and caring as possible.
Thank you for setting up my visit there. Even though it is half an hour from my house, it is an easy ride and only 10 minutes from KOP mall.

Friendly, caring, and informative. Listens to family's concerns. Does well with residents who have dementia. Has a lot of activities for the residents in and off the floor. The food is really good and is prepared and placed like the residents are dining.

Some good. Some not so good.
The price is reasonable compared to other facilities. A big complaint which I believe has to do w/ not changing the residents often enough :( is the odor of urine as soon as u get off the elevator & proceed down the hallways. The director [name removed] is very helpful & very hands on but the staff needs to be more attentive to proper hygiene. The rooms are fine, spacious for shared though the bathroom toilets & seats do not look as if they are cleaned often enough! The Nurses seem to be good but honestly over-all no one is super friendly & lack communication w/ the residents. We have addressed a few issues w/ management so I am hoping things get better now that we passed on our concerns.

Needs much improvement
When it comes to the cleanliness, the staff put their feet up on the dining room tables. The lady at the front desk was very friendly but a lot of the staff was very hard to understand. We gave the activities a 1 because we never saw any activities gong on. I understand care is expensive, but all these nursing home I feel are crazy expensive, when you get old and have to go to a nursing home it shouldn't drain one's pockets and family members pockets. Then when you are have to purchase items over and over again, that's another cost. I feel very guilty about having to put my loved one in a home, but I really thought that they would be well cared for there and I don't feel that my loved one was.

The staff have been pleasant and friendly. The staff has continued to keep me in the loop with every incident and medical issue involving my mom. I have noticed lately that my mom's room needs cleaning. The dust is collecting on the floor and under her bed. The vent in her bathroom is dusty. I can't talk about the meals, since we never stayed for meals. The move in day went as expected, rough. Mom wasn't too happy with me. It also appears that Mom has been participating in activities, which I'm happy to see. I would recommend and have recommended to others Highgate at Paoli Pointe.

Our Experience
My loved one was previously a resident at Highgate at Paoli Pointe. Everything was great for her at this facility, with the exception of the food. That area could use some improvement according to my loved one.

Has really gone down hill
The legacy staff is great, but I moved my mother out because I was concerned about her safety. It seems like the newer staff (perhaps temp/contractors?) often are not good at all, and are negligent in their treatment of residents. There is a lot of turnover at all levels. Many of the "amenities" listed on this page are not really available.

I toured this facility for a friend and it was very nice. It was our second choice. It's very clean. The staff was friendly and really seemed to have good interaction with the residents. Our guide was wonderful, took their time with us, and answered any and all questions we had.

Good Community, I Picked It Because It Is On A Smaller Scale
[Name removed] was wonderful to work with, and has always been willing to interact with the family in the beginning. The receptionist is extremely helpful whenever I call and tries to go above and beyond for us. The head of therapy is wonderful according to my loved one.
The communication could be improved to keep the family updated better when the family isn't there.
There are three meals a day provided by the community to the residents. My loved one thinks the dining room is very nice.
There is always problems with the billing for us.

I definitely think that the memory care unit is awesome. They do a great job. They have the appropriate facility and staffing to take care of your family members. Their communication with our family has been awesome. The standard room is great. If you do a shared room, I don't know that would be enough space. Really the only area for improvement is activities - I would just like to see more for the residents to do.
