Often understaffed, as is most of the industry and I think they might've finally found a director who wasn't a complete jerk. But the previous 2 were awful individuals. The majority of staff is actually really nice and he likes the food and gets plenty.

Our Experience at Elizabeth House
If you are on a budget like my mother is, this facility is good as it is a flat fee, and they don't charge by the level of care. That said, if your level of care changes while there, it does seem to take some reminding, but they do adjust. I think the level of communication with the family is adequate for me. I have heard from the facility when they know my mother isn't feeling well, and given that I visit frequently, that's all the communication that I need. They seem to be very good at helping with medication management, and the staff is friendly and courteous when they see me. The staff is very friendly. Like most places though, I think they might be over worked. Unlike some places, Elizabeth House is a bit smaller so I do feel like the staff gets to know everyone. They clean my mother's room and do her laundry once a week, as was stated in the contract.

Great value
Elizabeth House is a great value compared to other facilities we looked at. They just don't have many activities for the patients. I have only heard about Bingo, they do that 2 or 3 times a week. They did have a Halloween thing but there aren't many activities throughout the week (at least as far as I know). I think incorporating something, almost daily, would be great. Of course, that would probably require more staffing. Just a thought

Not a warm caring place, though all-inclusive.
My parent lived here for a little over a year and left recently. When we first saw it, the director was so friendly, we needed a place right away, and it was bright and airy. However, the staff spent more time in their break room than helping residents and the laundry room was always full of dirty clothes sitting on the floor. Apparently the night staff is to take care of the laundry, but they don't take care of it or the residents! When you call the main number, it just rings and rings. Some residents don't have phones in their rooms, so how could I contact someone in an emergency? The kitchen staff tried hard, but it seemed that money was very tight and the quality really went downhill. The activities director was always upbeat, but the room was looked worn out. They have no nurse on staff now, just get someone from the rehab place up the hill to come over in an emergency.

One of the Worst assisted living facilities around
My dad was a reseident of Elizabeth House for 4 years. During that time they had 2 substantial price increases. The first was 12% with promised being made to upgrade the facility (carpet, new flooring, paint, etc). That was a broken promise. When I visited weekly his room never appeared to be really clean. At best the trash was emptied and that was it. The room was dust, carpet was full of dirt, stains. The bathroom has never smelled fresh on any time I have visited. The facility has had another increase this year to raise resident rents another 10%. The majority of residents are on fixed incomes. So how do you justify raising each year to more than a resident is able to afford with no improvements to the interior or exterior of the facility. I have attempted to have conversations with current administrators and pretty much what I got is either you stay and pay or go elsewhere. They were not willing to work with our family so that our family member could remain. I feel we have had legitimate complaints throughout our 4 years at the facility and they have never really been addressed to our satisfaction. The administration does not care about its residents. They only care about their bottom line. Do not send your family to this facility. The administration is rude and talks to family members disrespectfully so imagine how they are treating residents.

My mother in-law lived at the Elizabeth House from 2017 until her death in March of this year. Her bath room was almost always unclean. Her linens and clothes constantly disappeared. Her personal care was adequate and she had good healthy meals. I would not recommend this facility. Residents mainly set around in wheelchairs , very lethargic.

A Place for Mom has scored Elizabeth House Assisted Living 6.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
