Danbury exceeds all our expectations
I love them here.
Danbury's staff is amazing and so friendly, everyone works with me and my father to get his meds before we head out for chemo appts, the doctor checks in on him, the apartment was newly remodeled, is clean and well-kept. He's got a decent size fridge, kitchen sink and cabinets, so it feels more like a studio than a dorm room. The food is great, and the portions are not huge so you always can sample different sides and have room for desert.
The lobby is clean, the hallways are wide, they have a physical therapist and therapy room on site, which we're taking advantage of.
The bathrooms are huge, have open shelving and lots of it which is great because nothing gets lost in the back of a drawer or hidden in a cabinet. Every shower has a built in shower seat.
We had a lot of furniture to put together and they let us use their recycle bin for all the cardboard- that's important because the Gardens in Florida where my dad was at last wouldn't let me use their dumpsters when I was cleaning out his room.
They lent us a bed until my father's arrived. We wound up not using it but it was a nice gesture.
His a/c heating unit isn't tilted properly and there was some water dripping and damage to his wall. They responded quickly and the hvac guy is fixing it now.
A big one for me is that the place doesn't smell like nursing home, the only smells are the food being served at mealtimes, which is nice.
You can get meals any time between the serving hours, so there's no wheelchair/walker gridlock at meal time. The residents aren't treated like children- they aren't given assigned seating, and they can move around and socialize as they please.
They are equipped for hospice in-room, and they have memory care as well, I think that's in a different building though.
The location backs up against a country club golf course, so there's quiet and lots of trees. They also can see fireworks from there, etc.
Children and families are in and out visiting, walking around.
And it's a 7 minute drive from my house.
I absolutely love it, this place was a no-brainer, really. My dad hasn't done any of the activities or outings, but he's very comfortable there.

Overall a better place and good choice
Overall I am glad I made the decision to move my uncle to Danbury because I believe the medical support staff can provide the support my uncle needs to ensure for his best quality of life. The decision was made to move into Danbury the last week of May with a move in date of [Date removed]. Unfortunately on the administrative side, the appropriate coordination was not made internally. As a result, Danbury was not expecting my uncle, nor prepared to receive my uncle on [Date removed] So there was a last minute scramble on both theirs and my part, which was disappointing, but hopefully it was an isolated incident. Now that my uncle has moved in, and adjusting to his new environment, I am very pleased with the medical support staff on all levels. Everyone has been welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable and looking out for his best interest. The activity coordinators also are friendly and welcoming. He enjoys the quality and variety of meals available to him.
This facility is well illuminated and has good ventilation, and nicely decorated throughout, and clean. My uncle has a one bedroom unit which is a good size.

My dad's care
On the whole I am happy for my dad's care. Aides are not always good about redressing him. Nurses are very good about communicating, especially [name removed]. He's 99 so not a lot makes him happy, except fishing!

Hudson- Danbury 3 year experience reception desk to the nursing staff we've had an amazing experience. However the present activity director does not show enthusiasm for previously established activities and has displayed activities and has displayed a lack of concern and wishes of residents. We cherish our overall experience that has been enjoyable and the new friends that we encountered at Hudson Danbury.

Danbury Hudson: My Brief Review
This is a secure, comfortable, and friendly are that meets my need admissibly. There have been only a few minor to mar my first 6 months. Laundry gone a stray once or twice a shower missed. I'm nearly always very happy here.

How about our family's experience.
The facility is clean. The activities department have good variety of activities daily it's OT at its best.
There is a few staff who actually know and I believe care for the residents.
Unfortunately they are understaffed we know this is a universal problem.
We wish there was a better communication portal to access medical care. I.e. my chart . For staff and the medical POA. I mean this is a department that the cognitive skills are diminished and trying to find out change in care or meds is difficult.
We also realize as far as nursing care goes. ... Not there. Which is frustrating.
BUT...
That being said. We ended up at Danbury for a couple reasons. We had 2 people from 2 different facilities tallmadge and Hudson. Basically sell the package. Our situation was also a need for residence for our father in law and Hudson was able to meet that. He is living in the story point facility right next door . Which was perfect. Overall. Our mother is safe. Participates in activities and generally is doing well.
It's not perfect. But no place is.

Great communication between staff team and family
Currently in transition. had a team meeting to address concerns and tips to help our mother + team adjust. We are comfortable and relieved knowing she is in a safe professional environment.
