So thankful for the care my grandma receives
My grandma has been living in this senior living community, and our family has been very happy with the care that she receives. The staff are kind, patient, and genuinely care about the residents. The community feels welcoming and safe, and it’s clear that they work hard to make residents feel comfortable and supported. Knowing my grandma is treated with respect and compassion gives us a lot of peace of mind. We’re grateful to have found a place where she is well cared for a valued.
About the facility Brookhaven Manor
This inviting community is a great space for the active senior to come home to. Its spacious living room features a grand piano and a picturesque main staircase. Brookhaven’s hip and cozy bistro is a great place to enjoy a sandwich and a hot cup of coffee while catching up with friends. With its central Ann Arbor, Michigan, location, Brookhaven is within easy access to Briarwood Mall, Zingerman’s famous deli, and multiple art galleries and museums.
Even the homebodied resident will never be without activity at Brookhaven. The manor includes a fitness center, library, beauty salon, and business center, as well as weekly movies and other activities. When Midwest spring pushes its way through those famous Michigan winters, residents of Brookhaven can relax on a spacious community patio for an iced tea with the neighbors, and their little dogs too, as pets are welcome!
Residents of Brookhaven are generally 55+, and are offered multiple floor plans to choose from, with handicap accessible options for those with specific mobility needs. Brookhaven is a great place! Always welcoming when you arrive! Always smiling faces around the building. From the staff as well as residents. They all make you feel welcome! Always kept clean and smelling great! Brookhaven is in a great location as well. Close to shopping and medical needs. Also close to u of m stadium :). Overall Brookhaven is a wonderful place!!!!

I love so many things about Brookhaven. I love my apartment. I love the staff (truly everyone). There is no one that has not been so helpful in all ways. The kitchen is superb with amazing food and several options to choose from. They love to keep us active. The exercise program is the the best. The activities department does a great job with several activities to choose from for everyone. BINGO is the best. Moving here was the best decision for me. Thank you Brookhaven for all you do for me.

Ive lived here for 6 years. I like the friendly staff. The food is great. The community is nice and clean. I love playing bingo, arts and crafts, music. I enjoy the fitness classes 3 times a week. I highly recommend

Brookhaven is the best!!!
Brookhaven is the best. I have lived here for 12 years and I am very very happy. All of the staff are great and they are very friendly. The food is delicious and the dining room staff are so friendly. Office staff, housekeeping, and maintenance are tremendous. I highly recommend Brookhaven to everybody

I have lived at brookhaven for over five years now. The employee's are truly wonderful. My unit is perfect for myself. The food is amazing, although I always go to the dinner's. Although I do not parkake most of the time, I hear a lot of great things about the activities. I love how my unit faces the south on the third floor.

I love everything all around. The food is wonderful! The housekeeping staff, dining room staff, and office staff are all so wonderful and welcoming. As the years have progressed they have added a lot more activities. We are able to stay busy most of. The menu's are switched around every three weeks but there is plenty of variety.

I have lived in Brookhaven MANOR FOR 2 YEARS. I thoroughly enjoy living here. The staff and residents are very friendly. They are very helpful in assisting people when they need help. They are supportive when people are having challenges in their lives. In addition, there are activity directors that provide terrific daily activities of all kinds: live music, arts and crafts, and painting. Monthly field trips to points of interest are scheduled for enjoyment. There are exercise classes several days a week by physical therapists, essential for seniors to maintain their health. They have a resident council for residents to meet monthly to share their views and raise any questions or concerns. Brookhaven is a fantastic place to live and I am extremely happy that I now reside here and have the opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy exciting experiences in this time of my life!

Brookhaven Review
When we first moved here, I did not expect to like it. Since being here, we have loved going to Fox for therapy. The food is wonderful and I love the fries. It scary moving into a home but the people here have made the difference. The food is our favorite thing. We normally stay inside our home, but we do like interacting with the people in the dining room. The trails around the outside of the building are really nice during the summer time, and the halls inside make it easy for a nice winter stroll, without getting cold!

Bingo!
My favorite thing to do is play bingo. [removed names] are such great directors. Emma in the office is always so nice to me and helps when I have issues. They have popcorn now and it is really good! I have lived here for a long time and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

The administration claims the facility is completely wheelchair accessible and I don't think understand that term. Most of the apartments are not free of impediments.
They could improve on activities by having some of them after dinner and just have more creative activities. They only do the kind of things you would expect at a place like this.

Generally, I’m pleased. The maintenance when I moved in didn’t repair many of the problems needed and 6 months later I’m still waiting (after reporting half a dozen times that the seal in bedroom window needs replacing). I went through months of water on carpet from busted drain from roots of tree. The tree still stands. A French drain was installed after lots of attempts to “Micky Mouse the real problem.
But on the Big Picture I’m satisfied here.

Great place to retire to
Everyone at Brookhaven is friendly and eager to please. I moved here when I first retired. I owned my own house before moving here. It was not as traumatic a change as I thought is was going to be. There are enough Brookhaven activities to keep me occupied, but still plenty of time to do what I want to do.

Excellent pace to live. Days are filled with great activities, wonderful staff and good food.
I did not know how much I would enjoy living here. I was new about 4 years ago (coming here voluntarily). I soon found out the great choice of activities and events happening. I especially enjoy all the musical offerings....something for everyone. The activities gals do a tremendous job providing us with a variety of activities and musical events.
The staff are great here.....good food....many social events offering food also.
I am pleasantly surprised at new activities popping up on the calendar. There is so much to do here for those who are able to participate.

They will not tell you all
You may get less than what you or your family are paying for:
- AMENITIES -- some of the amenities you are paying for may be suspended/not provided whenever there is a holiday (Thanksgiving, Independence day, MLK Day, Juneteenth, Veterans' day [date removed].
- TIPPING FUND -- You may be asked to contribute so that the employees have money to go shopping at Christmas time.
CASH ONLY please. Last year, I contributed $[removed][in cash]. forgot to ask for a receipt and never was given one. Never was told either how much was collected, (but at the dinner table a woman exclaimed: "They never tell you!" ) nor how it was distributed. Yet, it would be nice to know what percentage of my contribution went to those who do the actual work (the foootsoldiers), and how much to their supervisors or others.
One very nice thing at Brookhaven, though: there are nurses on location -- kind nurses, and for an additional $[removed]per month, they can be your 'first responders" in case you fall.
