Very Nice Place
Eventhough it did not work out for my loved one at Avalon Memory Care, it was not the fault of Avalon. It just wasn't a good fit for my loved one and she expressed that she was not happy there. She was on hospice and I did not want her to spend her last days, weeks or months that she had left on this Earth where she wasn't happy. It seemed like a lovely facility and everyone at Avalon was very nice and helpful.

At AVALON, we set ourselves apart from other residences with the level of care and compassion we show to our residents. Our care is unique in that we treat our residents as people with individual needs rather than grouping them as 'those with dementia.' After all, a lack of cognitive ability doesn't equate to a lack of individual personality. It is important to remember that we are guests in their home.

Poor quality of care
I would rate everything as a 1. They are extremely understaffed. The place was not very clean. The staff was not friendly. They all hated their job. The quality of care was not great. The food was awful. They had zero activities.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facility was clean and tidy. The staff called and kept me informed. The meals were simple and tasty. Move in was a breeze. I would highly recommend this facility.

Overall we have not been thrilled with Avalon however we don't think my mom would make it through another move so we have decided to keep her there. And I know finding workers for this industry cannot be easy but they should not be taking in people if they cannot care for them properly.
They are very understaffed. My mom is not mobile so whenever she calls for help by pushing her call button it can take sometimes up to half an hour or 40 minutes for someone to come to help her.
The food is awful I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

Avalon Memory Care did everything even the impossible, the care givers were literally so caring towards our loved one. They went out of their way, and above and beyond their regular responsibilities. We would absolutely recommend this community to others.

The general manager is very responsive, and will work with you. When I called her, she always responded and addressed any concerns. I felt like she was very on top of things when she was there. I would recommend Avalon Memory Care to others. My only comment to improve is they should have a full time manager. When the manager is there, things run very smoothly, but she only comes to the property three days a week.

I would not recommend/not a good experience. Moved mother out within 5 weeks
I would tell others to pay them an unexpected visit, don't schedule an appointment and walk in and check it out and you get a true feeling of what is going on before putting your loved ones in here.

Very nice small community with comfortable surroundings and many activities. Giving it 4 stars because of the tiny outdoor area. Other than that the people there seem to truly enjoy what they do and residents seem content. Nice sized showers!

Thank you for leaving a review after touring our location. We carefully planned out this home- like environment based upon the knowledge we have accumulated since my father started Avalon Memory Care back in 1995. We believe that the backyard patio with the circular walking path that leads back to the backdoor is ideal. Most all of our residents are huge fall risks so we did not want to have a huge expanse of yard for one to fall. Our staff, dependent upon the weather, do take our residents for walks around our 30 locations across Texas into Missouri. Just because we are a secure environment does not mean that with staff assistance loved ones cannot enjoy the outdoor areas outside of our secure backyards. Wish you the best and hope we can be of assistance.

Avalon is so new, clean and inviting. The rooms are spacious with beautiful, roll-in showers. The administrator is so kind and knowledgable that we contracted with Avalon at our first meeting. The staff is nice and caring. The menu looks good with great variety.

We have assembled a wonderful caring staff and are so excited to bring our care to the Houston area after 23 years of service mainly in the D/ FW area. These smaller secure home-like environments with typically a maximum of 20-24 residents keeping a 1:5 staffing ratio allows our residents as well as family members the best quality of life possible. As a family company I can assure you that we will continue to bend over backwards and address any needs or concerns as the future presents itself. Again, thank you.
