Exceptional care giver
My father has always been a very difficult person, which did not improve with age. A stubborn Dutchman who knows better. Extended quality of life at Avalon House
When my husband came to the Woodacre location of Avalon House, it was projected that he would only live a few more weeks. Now over a year later, with meticulous care and feeding, he has continued to stay with us. He requires specially prepared food, which is artfully and nutritiously prepared each meal. Unable to take care of himself, he has received top quality care by members of the team at that location.

Great place for memory care
My mother has been a resident here for several years, and we couldn’t be happier with her care. The staff are consistently friendly and genuinely attentive, which gives our family real peace of mind. The caregiver to resident ratio is a big plus — she receives personalized attention that many facilities simply can’t match. It is also very affordable for the area, making quality care accessible without the financial strain we feared. We highly recommend it.

Our mother, who has dementia and requires 24-hour care, has been a resident for more than 3 years. The staff are like family members to her and we have found it to be a comfortable fit. Other than a bit need of updating, this home provides everything we could hope for.

We think of your mother, as well as the rest of your family like family as well. The home is a single-family home that was a rambler built in the late 60s/early 70s. Therefore, it definitely is not modern and have the embellishments newer homes built today have. With that, we have taken out 3 of the old bathrooms years ago and put in 3 bathrooms with wheelchair showers, and like any home that gets wear and tear, we either fix, paint, or replace any items that need it. Even then, it will never feel like a home built much more recently. The most important thing to Avalon is the care and the quality of it that Avalon provides which you have very so nicely mentioned in your kind and generous review. We are so happy you chose and trust Avalon to care for your mom who is so special. We appreciate your review. We find the feedback helpful as I am sure others who are looking to place their loved ones will as well.

There’s not one complaint or concern I had with Avalon throughout the many years they cared for my dad.
It was a journey to find the right fit for my father with Alzheimer’s. He was diagnosed at a young age which made it tough to find a place that could handle his needs. He was still strong and mobile which required extra attention. Before finding Avalon, we tried a few hotel style homes who weren't able to care for him.
We then found Avalon, a small community. The communication with the caregivers and front office was great. They intimately knew residents and my dad was able to get personalized attention. It made a huge difference in his quality of life, and ours too, knowing he was in good hands.
Even though my dad could be a handful, they didn’t give up when the going got tough as others had. It can be unpredictable and quite draining. As I cared for him myself at one point, I know the immense level of dedication that it took and will be forever grateful to the Avalon team. They kept me informed of things I needed to be informed of, but the burden of caring for him to themselves.

Just what our mom needed
After looking at several large facilities, we were very pleased to find the small, home-like setting at Avalon where my mom is treated like a family member instead of a patient. Our mom has dementia and needs help with walking, meals, bathing, and medication. In her 3+ years at Avalon she has been well taken care of. We have found the staff to be caring and attentive. The administrative team has been very good with updates and communication, especially during COVID. We really like that all residents are together throughout the day, from meals to activities to watching TV. While the home is a little dated and could use some updating and painting, it is always clean and safe. We’ve had a very good experience and would recommend Avalon to other families.

She has a pleasant demeanor, remembers names and converses well with others.

Caring environment
The staff at Avelon House are what makes the home work. They not only tend to all the day to day tasks for the residents, they truly care about them. Exceptional care!
The experience I had at Avalon and the care of my dear mother by the caregiver [name removed], was truly a blessing!! If I could give [name removed] ten stars I would. My mother suffered from dementia and after a debilitating stroke became such a tremendous challenge to take care of. [name removed] handled my mother with compassion, dignity and love which truly warmed my heart and put my family and our friends at ease. [name removed] could bring a smile to my mother's face which helped ease our pain during her darkest days which was truly remarkable. My husband was a patient there for three years
My husband was treated with compassion and respect while a patient at Avalon.
I was encouraged to visit him and always made to feel welcome by the staff at any time I chose to visit.
A high degree of professional care was always present and each patient was cared for with respect and dignity. When an outside expert was needed, the staff was quick to access the needed help.

A Home away from Home
The administration team is amazing and caring.
Our go to person who takes care of my Dad is sweet, communicative, and has become apart of our family.
Avalon is a place that we had to wait on the wait-list for. But the care my Dad has received there has been amazing and it was worth the wait. I feel lucky to have met all the people I have that work there and that they care so much for him.

Great Home
I have been to this Avalon house on Wood Acre Drive, the house is always nice and clean and in order the residents are well groomed and clean, residents meals are well prepared and they make sure that they snack in between the manager for the house always pleasant and no matter what she got a smile on her face I know for sure that this particular house is very welcoming and staff there works very hard to keep the house well maintained, great home for a family who is looking some where for their mom or dad or other family members!

my mom stayed at avalon 3 on wood acre drive, for five years and during her time there, she was given the love and affection that I could not offer her because of my situation. I referred two doctors to the Avalon homes. I know it's more than 1. The only thing I'm unsure of is activities with my mother. I have never seen that being done. I visited quite often. Otherwise, no complaints. Things are great.

Thank you so much for your review & feedback of our home where your mother lives. We always find them so helpful. We are so pleased you are happy with the overall care & love your mother is receiving. We are truly appreciative you referred us to the medical community as well. Avalon House does do activities. We do 3 per day but there is definitely down time. We do share that when we give all of our tours so families can make the best decision possible when choosing a facility for their loved one. If a family has activities at the top of their priority list, Avalon would not be a good fit as we do not do activities constantly. We do however have the 3 per day. They may be things such as Bingo, poker, art, music, walks, dancing, and so on. Some residents also like to help with some of the daily chores such as folding laundry or setting the dining room table. During the down time, the residents are hanging out together in the living room or dining room much like they would be in their own homes so there would still be conversation and chatting occurring. We are so glad you chose Avalon for your mom. We really think the world of her and are glad you chose Avalon Homes for her.
