They made sure he was safe and comfortable, and never bored, scared, or lonely. And she was a great communicator, working with me to keep me informed and address his needs. This was during the pandemic which took a particular hit on the nursing care industry. But Avalon took many precautions to keep residents safe and families informed throughout. Maybe the best part for my Dad were the home cooked meals everyday. Being at Avalon, my mother was in a family residence with 5 other residents, a full time caregiver and other assistants. It was calm and safe. The staff kept us informed of changes in her health & habits. When mom developed an internal infection, the caregivers notified us and her PCP immediately and supported us through the healing process.\n\nWhen mom eventually declined, the AH caregiving staff continued their stellar support. They communicated with us daily and even let us know when the end was near. They weren't just there for my mom, but for our entire family as we dealt with end of life events. We couldn't have asked for more sensitive and thoughtful staff.
