Confidence and comfort in my mom's new home
The staff at Artis are very kind and attentive. They remember what matters to my mom and always engage her on those topics. When I arrive, they always seem to know where my mom is. They work hard to have ongoing activities and engage the residents as much as they can in social events. The facilities are clean, and the view outside as well as the landscaping are wonderful for sitting together or taking short walks.

Excellent nursing staff. [name removed] is amazing and we have already recommend this community to other families who may need a place for their loved ones. The biggest thing for me is I feel that my mother is safe. The nursing staff keeps me updated and I can reach out whenever needed.

our families experience
My grandmother is always clean, but does sometimes have other's clothes on when we visit or when we pick her up. I know name labels wash off and she often hides clothes from staff, but still we want to be sure she has the clothes we've given her. Staff are always friendly and listen when we have a question or concern, and they call me when they have a concern, so I'm confident that she is being taken care of when I'm not there. I very rarely detect any odor. There are a nice variety of activities planned , and they encourage my grandmother to participate even when she doesn't understand. As for value for cost we are able to afford it so far with careful planning and the peace of mind has been a great relief, but the cost may be prohibitive for other families.

Among the best
The staff here, from management on down, really takes the time to get to know the residents . It is gratifying when people throughout the facility call my family member by name. The residents are always clean and properly dressed; it is clear the staff cares about each person. Activities go on throughout the day so residents are rarely just sitting around doing nothing. Some things could be improved upon, such as communication with families, but as these places go, this is definitely one of the better ones. It's expensive but worth it if your person is still able to engage with others.

Mom’s So Happy!
I moved my mother from another Memory Care facility to Artis. She has a beautiful room and can open her door to the entire community. There are activities all day long and she eats meals with other residents from her “neighborhood”. The entire staff has been wonderful, and there’s always a nurse available. She’s getting excellent care and is so happy!

Overall satisfied at Artis
The facility is nicely laid out. Residents have plenty of opportunities to change their environment if they want without getting lost.
All the management staff know all the residents by name and assist with anything that is needed. I like that they are hands on and not isolated in their offices.
All the residents appear appropriately dressed and groomed.
There are activities for residents all day but they are allowed to opt out if they aren't interested.
It was critical for me that there was a range of residents from pretty high functioning to not. I ruled out many other places that were geared more to lower functioning individuals because my person needed to be around people who could walk and talk reasonably well at her time of admission.
I'm a little disappointed in the responsiveness of staff to address issues that are not immediately critical. I hope this improves.

Artis Way
Words cannot express our gratitude to staff at Artis of Huntingdon Valley. Our experience with my sister in residence gave us comfort and peace of mind while this horrific disease ravaged her. They were always so attentive to her needs and care. They also helped to guide me and help me through the sad journey.
I must also like to thank Serenity Hospice for their excellent care of my sister when she just couldnt do things for hersself any longer. They treated both my sister and I with respect, kindness and compassion until the end of my sisters journey.
We indeed believe the Artis way to be the best way of care.

Warm-Understanding- Outgoing staff
My friend has adapted very well. The doctors there are pretty good. The value for the money is very fair. There is no issues, and they take care of my friend. Artis went above and beyond, and they thought he would be a good fit. The staff is very accommodating. They are well-staffed, and they are able to maintain care for the residents one on one. They are very intuned with residents.

Communication limitation
The staff members were very kind and very helpful and the meals were good. However we had some communication issues when it came to the care services - when our loved one needed assistance we never had anyone to get ahold of.

I tell my friends how happy I am with every aspect of Artis. The staff is absolutely wonderful from the Executive Director down to the Care Partners. They all chip in and do anything and everything that needs to be done. It's very obvious they all love their jobs and the residents are their main concern. As of now, several months in, I can't come up with one thing they can do different.

Making the most out of a bad situation
This is a caring and responsive community for your loved one. They try really hard to take care of all of the residents at this community. They have activities like cooking classes, arts and crafts, bingo, and music for the residents to keep busy and stay active. The staff are in general very good, the weekend however, can be kind of spotty.

We found a winner!
It really is a team effort here, the way it is set up its not to big and not to overwhelming. It is like a little community and each kind of pod as their own kitchen, and gathering room so its easier for the staff to keep an eye on the residents. The community is very clean and well kept and so far our loved one has not complained about the meals. The activities have been a little tough lately given the restrictions.

A perfect fit for mom
We have been very happy with the care services at Artis Senior Living so far, and from our understanding our loved one is really enjoying the meals and dining service. They aren't taking the residents out and about yet, but they have activities going on all day long. Sometimes she does say she wants to come home, but then again she will turn around she wants to stay and is really enjoying it. Most of the residents are women so it was easy for our loved one to make new friends. This community is just very warm and inviting.

One thing we really liked about Artis Senior Living was the overall friendliness of the staff and other residents. It is very clean community. The room sizes are about average. My mom absolutely loves the food! We are just thrilled with our decision!

Be Alert and be aware and be present
Initially, I thought this facility was the cats meow. Initially I was correct. But over time, I found care partners in laundry rooms and behind secluded areas on their phones. This means they were not attentive to patients who had fallen many times, of which my parent was one. Sometimes nurses even found it difficult to determine whether to send them to the hospital. The level of care had gone down considerably in our tenure there. Be aware, be alert and be present on a regular basis to ascertain the level of care is what you want for your parent. Remember that a dementia patient may not be able to give you all details and administration counts on that fact. Also keep your eyes on other patients while you are there. Talk to other patients and definitely find a way to get a video camera in their room.

Community is consistently focused on safety, comfort, medical stability and work diligently to attend to the individual cognitive needs of the resident. Compassion is seen with each employee interaction. Activities are awesome. Respect for others is always a top priority. Nutrition and hydration needs of the resident are carefully monitored. Communication between administrative team and family of resident is excellent.
