About the facility American House Milford Senior Living
Located in the charming northern suburbs of Detroit near state parks and numerous lakes, this assisted living and independent living community is just minutes away from downtown Milford. The maintenance-free community of American House Milford offers well-appointed studio and one-bedroom apartments, and large common areas to visit with family and friends. Residents enjoy easy access to shopping centers and medical professionals in the quaint town of Milford and its surrounding areas. American House Milford is also close to Huron Valley Sinai Hospital and Kensington Park.
Residents can take a stroll along the walking paths that wind through the neatly landscaped grounds and community gardens, enjoy a chef-prepared lunch in a restaurant-style dining room, and then relax in the community library or visit friends in the billiards room. It has been very nice for my loved one so far. It is quiet and the food is good. They clean her apartment every week and pick up the trash twice a week. The apartment is very nice - wood floors except for the bedroom. We picked this community because it is close to my home, and my loved one likes it.

The staff is very polite. The chef/food staff are all very nice. The food could be better, but it's okay. They need more activities. It's not alot that seem to be interesting but they do offer: cards,bingo,happy hour and yoga. The price seems to be way too high. Overall, it's a very awesome place, and the staff has been very, helpful, and friendly.

Highly recommend
The staff have been very friendly and helpful at American House. They do seem to offer a lot activities for the residents and get them engaged. I have heard the meals are excellent, they have a chef who prepares them and they do get a choice from 2 different things. I think the value for the money is excellent based off of everything that they provide. Residents seem to be very helpful and there is a community feel. I would absolutely recommend to others looking.

Research before you commit..
Not what is used to be! Very over price for what you get today and upper management will basically tell you anything to join. I notice director not very kind to working employees as well. Constantly raising fees & food below average. Working care staff was very good though & kind. Went to other local place in Highland and substantially better and all way around.

Great American House, they do not do the waiver program, so this is likely out! This was the nicest and the cleanest of those I have seen to this point. This also had the sohortest waitlist for the tax credit, if you were on the internal waitlist and approx 2 yrs external waitlist.

My Dream Community
I love American House Milford Senior Living and I have nothing bad to say. Our decision was mainly based on location and apartment availability. It was in a close location to me but there was a wait list for an apartment and it would be for the next apartment that became available, there would be no choice on where you want a room.

Tour for comfort
I toured this community for the care for my mom. I liked the staff who were very helpful in answering the questions we had on care .The community was clean and they had a nice menu. This community was not completely furnished and we found it to be nice. They did not have a room available. We would recommend this community to families to tour for the care of a loved one.

My mother and I are very pleased. Her apartment is large and had new carpeting and was painted before entering. It’s bright and cheerful as are the people working there. Lots of activities and outings scheduled. The food is very good and plentiful and included in her plan. Housekeeping included with bedding and towel washed. Maintenance fast and friendly. They have a low income tax credit plan made it possible for my mom to live here with no distractions between what she gets and others.

Food Review American House Senior Living
I'm Only Rating the Food here. Be careful of the food in the Cafeteria. We found out that all American House's carry the same menu, and buy their food from Gordon Food Service. If you need any kind of specialized diet like for heart, for diabetes, for no gluten, the option is NOT available at all. If your doctor gives you a prescription for a special diet, the Cafeteria can NOT accommodate you at all. The food served is full of sodium and sugar. The food is mostly processed with lots of filler food like white pasta, white pototo's, white flower bakery items, white rice, and rich sweet desserts. The salad lettuce is the lowest quality available, which is iceburg lettuce. Vegetables, fruit, soup, drinks mostly all canned, processed food. Very little fresh veggies, fruit or home made soup.
You must pay for the cafeteria option, There is NO provision to cancel the cafeteria food price. Your welcome to buy and cook in your own apartment with your stove, fridge, that you pay to use, and provide your own microwave and small appliances.
