Our experience
Our experience varied over the 6 1/2 years there. Early on it was a 5. After Covid, it was a 2-3, mostly due to staffing issues, kitchen changes, and rising costs. The food was definitely a strength. But after covid, it went way downhill.

Review for Vitality Living Baypoint Village
I have not needed any Care Services, and have not participated yet in any Activities. Once I am settled in, I will become more active. The biggest plus with Vitality Living Baypoint Village is the staff. Within days of my arrival, most of them knew my name. They are all so friendly and ready to help you in any way possible. The food is very good, with several choices for each meal. I moved here from out-of-state, and have been very busy getting settled in, so I haven't attended any events yet, but they look like fun. Although I moved here from another state, I have a very good friend who lives nearby. This was the closest facility to her. I had taken a tour of the facility in[Date Removed], but it was short. I really hadn't fully experienced living here yet, but the tour did have a positive feel to it. I would definitely recommend this facility. I had tried a facility in another state, but it didn't go well. This facility seems to be the perfect fit for me. I am home.

Our family's experience
Several staff members were exceptional. [name removed] and [name removed] and a few others that I've forgotten names. The dining experience was very nice. Improvements that should be considered from a former resident's experience.
There was a shortage of staff due to firings after the hurricane evacuation. 1 person on duty for 2 floors if residents was too thin. Employees were friendly and helpful when they got to mom but sometimes there was too long of a wait. The cleaning lady did not do a good job. The laminate floors were filthy when mom moved in and out. All she did was swiffer down the middle of the room. As mom neared her move-out date there were days when they did not come to take her to lunch or dinner. I was also uneasy about whether they were giving her her medication properly.

Caring, attentive staff. Nice facility. Recommend
Facility is older and in need of updating but they are in the process of getting updates. New Memory Care area is really nice. Old Memory Care area needs a little help. Most staff that I've interacted with are great. They truly seem to care for the elderlies. I would like to see more activities for the memory care residents. All in all it is a well maintained managed facility. There's a lot of staff that have been there for years and have family members also working there. During a recent hurricane evacuation, they could not have handled that situation any better. Staff members left their own homes to accommodate the residents to a safer facility with a hot line for checking on your loved ones at any time. My only concern would be communication. Upper staff members are a bit hard to get in touch with. Another thing is management turn over. My dad has been there for one year and we're on our third Memory Care Director. And most of the management staff has turned over a few times. In summary, I feel my dad is well taken care, safe, and comfortable.

I love it here. The people are genuinely friendly. They look for ways to make your life and living positive. The food is exceptional and the servers look for ways to please the residents. When the entre’ has seafood, the number of big shrimp is amazing. My patio is fabulous and in full view of the heated pool. There are several dogs here and is place is “animal/pet friendly!”

5 Star place to call home but food does need improvement.
Food is a huge part of the community experience. That is the only place Mom, and many of her fellow residents, would consistently rate low. The servers are mostly sweet.. but not well organized so some of the residents find themselves flagging down a server to place their order. When I was there, recently, I saw this occur often. Add in food that is not good... and that is all they focus on. Unfortunately, humans typically focus on the negative and not all of the things that are positive.

Dirty
The rooms are not cleaned properly, floors are sticky, bathroom is constantly filthy, bad smell. Not enough lights in rooms. Staff doesn’t check on residents enough. Laundry gets backed up. They strip the bed and don’t remake it right away… I had to make the bed myself several times…Staff congregates in the center amongst themselves while residents are calling for help…several falls of residents…night nurse is horrible! They leave my father in his wheelchair in front of the tv for hours without assisting him to bed earlier. If he wasn’t in need of hospice I would move him out!

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Florida’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Florida’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored Vitality Living Baypoint Village 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
