It's not perfect (no place is), but the caregivers are kind and attentive and it feels like a big family since there are always quite a few people sitting in their \"living room\". There are lots of good activities, and Vista West sponsors kid friendly events ( like Easter egg hunts and Trick or Treating) that bring young children into Vista West to interact with their elderly relatives and other residents. At the Trick or Treating event yesterday, they served pizza (!!!), had cookies to decorate, had a Halloween coloring activity, and had Trick or Treating on two of the floors on the independent/assisted side (at doors that had a pumpkin symbol). It was such a fun event for young and old alike! The facility is beautiful (and only 2 years old), the caregivers are very friendly and helpful, and the food is great! Whenever I visit, there are always 6 or more residents sitting in the common area (whereas we seldom saw residents outside of their rooms at other memory care facilities that we toured here in Madison). The activity director ([name removed]) does an awesome job of getting to know each resident and helping them participate in the activities of the day (to the extent possible). [name removed] also spends individual time with each resident, treating everyone like one big family. She even arranges to bring memory care residents to programs on the independent/assisted side of Vista West (which was not the case at other places we toured), and she occasionally takes residents on outings within the community!\nI have also been very impressed with how well the nurse ([name removed]) has handled each of the adjustments (to the medications and care plan) that my loved one has needed.
