Management Concerns
My father moved into the Legacy in [date removed]. The facility had several interim Assisted Living Directors. Things improved when there was a permanent person hired. However, we had to request meetings to discuss ongoing issues. Eventually we put cameras in my father's room. He couldn't always provide an accurate story of what may have happened. Staff training related to catheter care was subpar. My review would have been better if Lifespark hadn't bought the Legacy and renamed it [removed]. Lifespark doesn't see personalized care, unless you plan to pay a lot more money. We moved my father before he would have had an increase of more than $[removed]. He was already on one of the higher care packages. Lifespark chose to part ways with staff who knew what they were doing. Our family didn't realize how poor services were until we moved. Activities were great. [name removed] does her job well.

Under New Management
Legacy was bought out by Valora Senior Living. The director who we liked has left and prices are going up. Service is getting worse and today we were almost late for an appointment because staff did not have her ready as promised. There has been a lot of turnover in health aides since the buyout.

overall a nice community
My dad likes it okay. He says it takes too long for someone to arrive when he pushes his button, but I'm not sure how accurate he is. The food is just okay he says. The place is very bright and cheery.

Great experience with the Legacy
The people at The Legacy are very friendly and helpful. They were very easy to work with and treated our mother with so much respect and grace. The move-in process was also very easy. Our mother was very well taken care of, although anytime there was a change of medication or as she got worse, it did take a little time to get all the staff updated and on board with new treatment plans. But she was very well cared for during her time there.

The facilities is beautiful. I think it is great for anyone who needs limited extra care. As my friend got worse and unable to do much for herself I felt the care level was less than stellar.

There's stable staffing and not a lot of turnover. The smaller number of residents allows staff to really know the residents and to recognize any changes in care needs or behaviors. The staff has good open communication with family members and they're open to feedback.

Review for The Legacy of St. Anthony
We were attracted to them because, not having to move to a different unit if her care needs changed was a big one, also the fact that it does NOT have a la carts pricing and we like the décor and outside fountain. Also having a full kitchen unlike Sunrise. Another reason for picking legacy is that the intake staff was more respectful to my mom than staff at some of the other places. ON some of the tours elsewhere the staff would talk to the family as if my mom was not there. [name removed] on the other hand took care to talk directly to my mom

Small, quiet community. My dad would like to socialize a bit more with others. They do not help with set up dr appts or any other appt. But, it is listed on the "cares" They've had 5 different nurses work there. But, this last one has been there at least 6 weeks and is attentive.

Promises not kept.
This facility like most is short of help. I felt the management was a large part of that problem. My Mom was blind with dementia and unable to walk on her own she was in a unit with other patients with memory issues. When bringing help in from temp agencies, they always had the temps work with the memory patients. This was extremely difficult for my Mom and I'm sure the other memory patients as well. These aides did not understand my Mom's needs and received very little if any introduction or in-house training. The Legacy aides were excellent and very caring. Just not enough of them. I had several care meetings with management and nurses expressing my concerns and of course promises made but not kept

Poor care for the amount that you pay per month.
Within the first month of our mother living there she fell and broke her foot. She then fell a second time with no injuries. Two years to the month she fell again and broke her foot again and this time ended up with surgery. We did not get any response from the administration as to their response or lack of response, if any type of accident report was filed with their insurance company or the State of Minnesota. We have also had concerns about general care, upkeep of the apartment and response to Mom's calls for help. This is not a residence that We would recommend to anyone.

I thought the help I received from A Place for Mom was extremely helpful in evaluating the facility we chose. I am really glad that I had suggestions of things to ask and where to pay attention. The staff, including all the caregivers and wait staff, always call all the residents by first name. They make an effort to know more about you.

Review for The Legacy of St. Anthony
I'd say they are responsive, have worked hard to get my mom settled in the community, have picked up on her passions (like a fairy garden) but have done so with supervision that keeps her from doing too much. I can't speak highly enough of the management team, who are known to become the cleaning crew if needed. Legacy is not just a job to them, it's a vocation. They struggle, like all Assisted Living facilities to recruit and hire good service staff, but we are really happy there, and believe this is her place for the rest of her life.. I'm happy to recommend Legacy.
