Don't move your loved one in there.
That place is infested with bed bugs. The whole building. Warning do not move in there. The food is so awful, they never fix anything. A lot of bed bugs and roaches. When confronted they get upset. Terminex just walks through says they treat but the infestation is getting bigger. Please do not move into this place. The stress is not worth the savings.

Our experience at The Rose of Waterloo
I wasn't happy with The Rose of Waterloo. The manger was difficult to deal with. My loved one was happy to get out of this facility. The food was awful and was always cold. Overall, our experience at The Rose was poor.

Great place to live.
My mom is so happy at the Rose. When at home she was closing herself off from people, now she is involved in the activities. I am impressed with the cleanliness of the entire place. Nice Apartment Space!
As far as I know, things are going well for my loved one since the move to The Rose of Waterloo. Everyone is friendly and he really likes the space and the fact that he got an apartment that is affordable. They have some trouble with the out of state referral, but I think things are getting figured out now.

I'am Pleased With This Community
My father loves it here, and everything is working out pretty well. This is a lovely community, they do a very good job with the cleanliness. The staff is very good, they have been very friendly and helpful to my father. At the moment they are working to get another activities director. The meals are fair. I'am pleased with everything they have done for us. This is a community I would recommend. they are caring for my father very well.

My Mother In Law Loves the Food
Everything has worked out wonderful for my mother in law here at this community. She has adjusted very well to it, and we are satisfied. The staff have been great, they are really helpful and attentive. She has tired a few of the activities they offered. She loves the food, the meals are nice. They have lovely family events too include the families. They are providing her with good care. I would highly recommend this community.

Nice And Clean
This is a lovely community and I am very pleased. Everything at this community looks great and nice and clean. There isn't much staff because these are senior apartments and I am still very much independent. The other residents are nice and friendly. The community is great and I have adjusted well to it.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Iowa regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Iowa regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored The Rose of Waterloo 1.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
