About the facility The Orchard Continuing Care Retirement Community
Nominated "Best of the Best" 2022 By Mississippi's Clarion Ledger, The Orchard is considered a Jackson area treasure. For over 30 years we have provided seniors with a compassionate continuum of care that alleviates the worries of aging. Our residents can move into spacious Independent Living apartments with balconies or patios and enjoy freedom, convenience, gourmet food, activities, and connection with neighbors. Residents can also choose Assisted Living apartments and participate in similar lifestyle choices but with the benefit of daily needs assistance. Folks with Memory challenges are nurtured in our new memory care (Alzheimers-Dementia) community affectionately known as the Rose Garden. This state of the art building is designed with a focus on resident well being and peace of mind. Lastly, we have our skilled nursing wing with a dedicated and experienced staff of registered nurses and aids.

Great Place
The Orchard Continuing Care Retirement Community is a nice facility with an organized system to take great care of their residents. I feel that my mother is well taken care of and has a great deal
of space to walk around during the day inside and outside. She's not confined to a small space like she would be in other facilities. She seems happier and more social. I would recommend The Orchard Continuing Care Retirement Community to others.

A great fit for my parents
My parents are very happy with the facility, the staff that work there, as well as the other residents. The quality of care has been excellent. They have also been very pleased with the meals. When you go down at breakfast you are offered cereal or a full breakfast. They then have 2 meal options at lunch and at dinner they can have a soup or sandwich or both. Or they can switch the lunch and dinner meals if they prefer. They do offer a lot of activities. We did price checking and they had the best value for the money. I would absolutely recommend The Orchard to others looking.

Tour of The Orchard
Four of my long-time friends and I met for lunch in the dining room with the residents and then a tour of the Orchard. The meal was delicious and the residents all seemed like a big happy family. I was very impressed with the entire facility. The apartments are larger than I expected and have a lot of storage space as well. There are so many types of activities and beautiful garden areas. I can definitely see myself living at the Orchard.

Our aunt was in the Orchard for seven years and in the [community name removed] for just over one year. In both places, the care and attention she received was excellent. I am her nephew and am more familiar with the [community name removed] because I was not living in MS during the time she was in the Orchard. The care givers in the [community name removed] have been absolutely exceptional and we could not have expected more. I especially want to commend your head nurse and receptionist. They are two of the most caring, compassionate, and loving people I have ever met who always go the extra mile to care of your residents. The [community name removed] is very fortunate to have both of them.
My sister and I will forever love and appreciate the staff at the [community name removed]. You were a true blessing at a very difficult time in our lives.

The Orchard a welcoming experience
Recently had an opportunity to visit The Orchard and was impressed by the friendliness of both the Staff and Residents. The facility is decorated in a manner that uses both color and light to provide a cheery environment particularly in the new Rose Garden section.
Had a very good lunch in the Dining Room with the food being both tasty and plentiful and the staff helpful.
There appears to be a wide choice of activities
to keep the Residents involved and challenged.
In summary my first visit to The Orchard was encouraging and provides a platform for future visits

My tour review
This community was a higher level of care than what my loved one needed at the moment. I have revisited and considered this community due to my loved ones care needs growing. the person giving the tour was not as personable and it was very quick. Also the guide did not work in that building initially and was not as knowledgeable about the everyday ins and outs.

beautiful new memory care community for men and women
Was delighted to visit the new Rose Garden Memory Care building at The Orchard! It is state-of-the-art and provides such a calming and open atmosphere. Both the private and semi private rooms are spacious with tall ceilings. The public spaces are beautifully decorated. The courtyards are lovely. Best of all is the Community Relations Director who greets visitors and interacts with residents - [name removed] is always joyful and sets the tone for the wonderful compassionate care.

“I recently toured the newly-constructed state of the art memory care building – what a beautiful setting, floor to ceiling windows bathing the halls with wonderful light. Great value for a premier full service Continuing Care Retirement community
The Orchard is the only private Continuing Care Retirement Community in the Jackson area that is a rental model (verses St. Catherines -where you have to purchase your unit). It offers large Independent Living apartments with high ceilings and huge closets!!! Many of them have balconies or patios. The Assisted Living units are spacious and can accommodate singles or doubles. The Nursing Care is well staffed and clean. The Memory Care is very very nurturing and housed in a sweet little rose garden. It currently can't accommodate men; but I'm told they are building 60 new memory care units in order to accommodate men as well as ladies on the waiting list.
For the price, The Orchard is great value. They have good food (always offering a homemade dessert or ice cream) and served by a gracious wait staff on white table cloths.
The residents are so cute - always dressed up with their lipstick and jewels. They are happy to talk to visitors and share their experience at The Orchard. I was really impressed.

Need Sensitivity Training
My mother was at the Orchard for over six years. She started at the Rose Garden and then moved into the Arbor. She passed away January 19th 2017. She choked during lunch and was given the Heimlich maneuver. I was told she was turning blue but they were able to save her. She was admitted to St. Dominics where we were told she had aspirational pneumonia. She passed away a week later.
Nobody from the Orchard ever called to check on my mother. I went back and retrieved her items from her room and nobody said one word to us. They never said they will miss her or that they were sorry to hear of her passing.
I have never met a group of people that were so disconnected from their residents and their families. I think they were more concerned about a lawsuit than anything else. I think they need sensitivity training.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
