My Mom’s 5 years here were very good
My Mom lived at TNW for 5 years & was well cared for by kind & patient staff, although she often could be difficult. I was there almost every day to learn how the different staff members worked, witness the care they provided, & see my dear Mom generally happy. Please understand: NO place

My Mom’s 5 years here were very good
My Mom lived at TNW for 5 years & was well cared for by kind & patient staff, although she often could be difficult. I was there almost every day to learn how the different staff members worked, witness the care they provided, & see my dear Mom generally happy. Please understand: NO place is perfect. Advantage here: a NON-PROFIT facility, a division of town services, the last of its kind in CT due to decades of for-profit healthcare. TNW was for years an officially 5-star facility; it still is, really, despite the shrunken HC labor force post-Covid, increasing costs, & understaffed government agencies that review long-term care facilities. TNW’s review on the CMS site is over 2 years old, & many of those issues have been rectified, but not yet updated. The nursing staff-to-resident ratio is higher than required by CT law. They are town employees with union benefits, so there is far less staff turnover, which means residents feel more comfortable, family are relieved. TNW IS A GEM!

This place is like living in hell.
Very bad care and not clean. Ants in the bathroom. Food is not eatable. Staff is non responsive.. No activities. Rehab is terrible. They put you in a large room with many people and leave you there to do your own exercises without guidance.d

Do not make your loved one suffer
The worst facility. There is no communication, unskilled nurses with zero compassion and its a circus. We took my Mom out after five days. She NEVER used to complain and was in tears there because, as she said, "because of the help". They were rude to her (and us), [Removed], gave her the necessary digestion pills hours AFTER the food, would give her the food without giving her dentures first. She fell because they never came after she rang the bell numerous times, and they never told us. This is just a quick review....don't sent anyone you love there. [Removed]place and the people in charge are no better. I met with the director and never heard back. A disgrace to this community.

Frequently Asked Questions
about The Nathaniel Witherell

A Place for Mom has scored The Nathaniel Witherell 6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
