Review for Bonaventure of Pueblo
The building is very clean. The apartment is very nice. We did have some issues with the quality of the food and I spoke to the corporate office and my parents are happier. Now. There has been a good amount of turnover and that is hard for the community.
The activities director was loved, but she had to take a position that paid more and the residents were very sad to see her go. Go. It doesn't sound like activities are back to the level they were at last summer.

Be prepared to adjust to senior living when moving
overall we are adjusting well, and it IS a big adjustment! As truly independent residents we are in the minority, there are few truly independent with no mobility issues or special care needs. There seems to be a sales/ marketing focus on attracting more independent living residents. So activities are mostly focused on Assisted Living and/or Memory Care residents. That doesn't really bother us. The facility is nice but in need of some updates - Ivy bought [community removed] some time ago and renovation is planned to begin soon, in the unoccupied units. Staff are friendly, eager to assist and generally helpful; sometimes seem a bit understaffed in the dining rooms. Food is OK, not great but has been improving lately. We have a large, comfortable apartment, 2 BR, 2 baths, but it needs some updates, e.g. replace Formica counter tops, mini blinds, update appliances...

[name removed] gave a great tour. He is very Informed and personable. It’s such a beautiful place. I like the fact that there really is room for every type of health and/or mental condition. And all of it is done so nicely.

I would give four, but I had to really work hard to get better communication communications. Now everything seems to be pretty good. I especially like that they bringing position assistance into the facility. The head of the memory care facility is very good in emailing me in a timely manner

Staff performance was a strong 5. I thought the price was way too high unless you had Medicaid. The recommendation for the facility is 5 if you can afford it, but for people in my income bracket it was a 2

Bonaventure of Pueblo review
After approximately 2 years at Bonaventure we moved my father-in-law out and back in with us. We received a move out bill at almost [fee removed] . They billed us [fee removed] to replace the carpet in 557 square foot 1 bedroom apartment. They also are billing us for late payments when the had direct deposits made from his account from the beginning. I believe that this is taking advantage of the elderly and will be pursuing that.

Not What I Expected
Our experience has not been great so far.
1. We had the room rented for 3 weeks before we moved in yet TV cable box was not set up and Mom went 2 days with no TV and when she did get it no one took 10 minutes to show her how to use it and maybe write down a few favorite channel numbers for her.
2. Took 2 weeks to get phone number straightened out.
3. During tours we were led to believe there was a nurse on site 24 hrs. Maybe they didn't say it but implied it.
4. Our move in day was a nightmare. Front desk told us to park on the side and bring stuff through there which involved stairs. Would have been much easier to come thru the front door with no steps. No one offered the large carts there but later we found out they normally do.
5. We received no orientation packet or information at all until I went up and complained because this is all new to us and we could have really used some guidance.
I could go on but I am about out of space.

The facility and apartments are very nice and updated. The administration are very friendly and respond quickly. So if a person is independent and requires little care, this is a good place. The activities on the calendar do not always happen. The breakdown is information getting to the aids that actually care for the residents and follow to make sure the care is actually happening. We left because my dad needed more care. We felt that he wasn't getting the care we were paying for.

I'd say if you love your parents and want to see them well cared for, find another place without giving this one another thought. One who'll deal with you honestly, live by the word of its upper management and not do every thing they can possibly think of to squeeze another dollar from you.
Worst breed of liar I've ever dealt with hands down.

What I really like the most about the Bonaventure of Pueblo community is the transportation, and I can be with people when I feel the need. Based on the experience I have had so far, I would recommend this community to other families.

Bonaventure of Pueblo review
This is a horrible Place for Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Grandma, criminals, pets. I would not refer people to Badaventure if I were you.
The beautiful building exterior, high end amenities are used to trap people into thinking all will be good.
These amenities are not offered to residents in the Memory Care area even though they pay more money per month plus [fee removed] non-refundable "community fee." When we arrived, residents were given gas station brown paper towels with their meals, only a fork, no cutting utensil, and don't cut their food. If you're continent when you get there, you'll be incontinent before long. If i was able to, I would have moved her out first 2 days!
Only 1 or 2 staff is not enough.
Our family member was hospitalized at ER Saturday am [date removed] due to no follow-up to get a urinalysis for over 4 weeks. UTI so bad ER was needed.
Bad bruising that was yellowing already was noticed by her sister on [date removed] 3 hand cuts from improper transport. Fall b/c she was left in her room too long so she attempted getting up herself and fell. Still more problems.... Cant get PCP release for badly needed cataract surgery, keep forgetting to get from PCP.
Vaccinations still pending since admittance [date removed] . Had/zero communication skills in that unit. Dir & Asst Dir have 0 voice mail= Dont Give a Damn

Would never recommend. Beautiful facility but otherwise not as promised. High turnover.
I would never send anyone there again. It is beautiful, but they do not help and do not do what they say they will do. Staff changed like weekly. No activities in the locked wandering side. They cleaned and did laundry when we complained. Meals were not bad, but service was not nice. It was expensive.

We picked this community because they had a very good working relationship with hospice onsite. It's a very nice facility in terms of appearance and upgrading. They can improve on staffing. I would recommend to other families.

The food seems to vary on quantity and quality. Activities seem to be geared towards the female residents more than male residents. They could do better on the meals considering the monthly rate they charge.

Not a good experience
We are trying to get my loved one out of here. I would rate it very low based on what I have heard from her. She says that the staff are very rude and not helpful. Whenever I try to call, they will not return the phone calls. The nurse over here is not good at all, she is an RN but we have to pay someone extra to go fill up syringes. The price is right but she is not getting what she is supposed to be getting. The pricing is not consistent either and everything is an add on fee. They do not take Medicaid even though they told us that they did. It is a beautiful place but I would not recommend them.

We reached out to Bonaventure for some information for our aging parents. We let them know that we were not ready yet and had only just began looking. We gave them one phone number. After visiting, we were continuously harassed including them calling us on phone numbers we did not give them and SHOWING UP AT OUR HOUSE unannounced when we did NOT give them our home address either. This company will invade your privacy if you contact them for information. Please be aware before you share ANY personal information with this facility, especially if your loved ones are unaware that you're looking for a long-term place for them. My husband had to call them and demand they remove us from their list in hopes it will stop the EXTREMELY invasive harassment. Fingers crossed!

Never recommend
I would not take anybody here. They did not care for my mother in law and on her first day no one came to introduce themselves, no one came to check on her, they did not feed her, nothing. They never put her to bed or put her sleep apnea machine on. That was on the first day so the next day we moved her out. We called to check on her and there was no communication what so ever from the staff. I would never recommend this facility.

Settling in
Since this is our first experience, we do not have anything to compare it to. My loved one has now settled in and formed some friendships and it is looking quite improved. The apartment sizes are great. The food is institutional and could use some improvement. We would recommend the facility overall.
