In Transition
They have been going through transition. New ownership I believe. It's taken them awhile to prepare her food correctly (chopped). It's better. Slow bringing food to the table. Also she is supposed to get two showers a week. There's been a lot of confusion about scheduling so she hasn't gotten her showers when she was supposed to. Hopefully the confusion has been rectified. My sister is paying for these two services as part of her care plan. I am hoping these concerns will be taken care of when the transition is complete.

Review for The Courtyards at Mountain View
The place is beautiful and we love that memory care has lots of windows and large hallways all on ground level. My husband's studio is comfortable and kept clean. I can take him over to assisted living for more activities and around the big courtyard also. The caregivers are friendly and work hard. He needs a lot of help because he is a fall risk. However the head nurse in memory care that I had interviewed with retired shortly after he moved in a couple weeks ago and has not yet been replaced. Another nurse from assisted living checks periodically but memory care sometimes seems understaffed. The food is pretty good and I ate with my husband several times, breakfast was served an hour late once. In general it's a friendly and pleasant place.

Staff turnover
There is a really turnover rate of staff at Courtyards, and care plans are not followed very closely. Communication is extremely lacking, too.

I had relatives live here. The transportation that they promised is notoriously unreliable. They will leave your 82 year old relative waiting for a ride back home. Important medical appointments have been missed. They are dismissive then say they only have one driver for the entire community. This happened routinely and we eventually had to move. The food is gross for anyone remotely interested in fresh food. [Names Removed] in admin, will never respond promptly, if at all. They routinely overbilled. My relative got food poisoning twice. It was an enormous disappointment. If you rely on assisted living for transport, communication of any sort, or edible food, go elsewhere. Seriously. I don't know how this place gets any more than 1 star.

The Courtyards at Mountain View
During our first visit, we noticed that the staff seemed unmotivated and not very helpful. Make sure to pay attention to the staff when you visit. When we approached the assisted living desk to ask about our mother’s cleaning, bathing, and laundry schedule, we were shoved a three-ring binder with no explanation or guidance. There was no attempt to walk us through the information or answer our questions.

Deeply Regretted the Move into Courtyard
Short staffed and poorly trained staff; promises not kept. Train staff to be more kind, more considerate, more welcoming, smile and show warmth, not stand at the doorway and yell out 'what do you want', be patient, get up close so they can hear and be heard.

"Good experience so far, some room for improvements, we would recommend Courtyards at Mountain View
My aunt is in memory care, which honestly is hard to like much of anything about that environment. It's just tough to see your loved one get to that point in life. Courtyards' memory care director is outstanding and her second in command is the same. They are the best part of the experience so far, I would give just those two a 5 all day long. The admin staff at Courtyards is fine but not good with communication or follow through. They could improve on the intake experience and support for new residents and family members. The accounting team could be more communicative. The building itself needs to have better visual access to the exterior, too.

We love living here! We feel safe and that the staff cares about us
My only concern is having a charge for having food delivered to our room per meal. I am in a wheelchair and do not really like eating in the dining room nor does my husband-anyway That would be nice if there was a monthly fee instead - since we pay for meals in the rent.

Review for The Courtyards at Mountain View
I would give The Courtyards a zero if I could. When I first toured the facility, it was all show — a complete dog and pony act. But once my brother in law was admitted, the reality set in. The staff is clearly not trained to handle challenging or uncomfortable situations. After just three days, my brother-in- law was sent to the hospital twice, and then told he could not return. Despite this, I was charged the full[amount removed]for the month. I was promised a partial refund, told it had been mailed — but weeks later, nothing. No check, no communication. My calls and emails have been completely ignored. When I went to collect his belongings, I found a pile of soiled clothing and discovered that items, including a new pair of shoes, were missing. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. Beware. the administrator I originally spoke with, seemed only interested in the money — and now refuses to return calls.

The Courtyards at Mountain View
Courtyard of Mountain View is excellent. Can't say enough about the kind caregivers. All should be a five, I believe. The facility is beautiful. It looks almost new. It's not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. Yes, we would recommend the community to other families if they can afford it. We looked at lots of memory care facilities and I think they are one of the best in Denver.

overall nice community with areas of improvement
I really like the friendliness of the staff, the fact that they bring in live entertainment into the memory care building and how nice and new the inside of memory care is. I feel like they are understaffed and the food isn't very good. Also housekeeping only cleans their rooms once a week.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Colorado’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Colorado’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored The Ivy Mountain View 8.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
