Review for The Forum at Memorial Woods
So far I would say it's been fair. The A/C and heat have been an issue since prior to move in. The staff has been excellent. We have only been here a short time. The floor plan we chose is quite spacious and has a wonderful view. The food/dining has been satisfactory thus far. It is under new management, so we will see what directions things go.

[Name Removed] the daily director, is a blessing. Her patience with the residents is evident in all the things she does. She is a caring soul who truly understands the needs of her residents and does an awesome job of helping them while keeping the families informed. The restaurant style dining room makes you feel welcome and heard. Their varied menu along with ala carte choices appeal to everyone. Weekly housekeeping keeps bed linens and towels fresh and the 'light' cleaning focuses on bath and kitchen to help residents stay clean and healthy.

We really liked the Forum at Memorial Woods. It was clean, beautiful, spacious, full of amenities and activities. The dealbreaker to us, however, was that we could not actually “age in place“, in the independent living apartment, we would start residing in. If one of us needed additional help, or assisted living, that person would either have to move into their assisted living area, or we would have to pay for outside, help to come in and help us in our independent living apartment. So this was just not an option for us.

Disappointed
Now that we've signed a contract with them, the administrative staff is virtually unreachable. The caregiving staff are nice but he was there for 2 weeks and running out of clothes before they washed his clothes. This took numerous calls and visits from me to clear up. We still cannot figure out how to access the Forum's cable tv though we've asked numerous people and the maintenance department for assistance. These are simple things that should be easy fixes. I assume they are just horribly mismanaged.

Nice open areas and small staff to resident ratios. I liked the courtyard and proximity to my home! Friendly staff and a lot of planned activities. I appreciated the discussion with the sales rep and answered my question.

Review for The Forum at Memorial Woods
The program director was always very nice & other office staff were fine too, it's the staff who actually cared for the people who are admitted to live there. No effort was made to make them feel that's where they are going to be living. The first night Nobody guided my husband to go to his room he walked around all night knocking every door looking for me, there was no one there to help him with that, second incident with bathroom facility, he messed himself, the lady supposed to be in charge refused to provide necessary care items. One resident punched him in his chest for no apparent reason. I happen to know these things because couple of care-taker I engaged to be with him so transition is smooth for him. I had not discarded my husband, I always thought your facility would know more & better how to handle such special need residents. I was so happy to bring him back home, luckily home healthcare with the help of couple other 24 hr. caregivers I was able to have few more weeks with me before nature took over!

Largest apartments around
My in laws love their large 2BR, 2BA apartment at The Forum. Nice new floors, fresh paint, and a shower to replace the tub. Kitchen is a bit small, but there’s a bonus: a dining room! Corner units have balconies. No place is 100% perfect, but the residents and staff are nice, meals are great, valet parking is easy, and there’s plenty of green space to walk a dog. Not all units have a w/d, but there’s one on each floor. [name removed] in sales is so friendly and helpful!

The Forum is first class
My sisters and I had to place our older brother, who has Parkinson’s Disease, in a new place to live. The Forum exceeded our expectations on every level. Warm, welcoming, cheerful and elegant !! He’s a proud man who resisted going, but now he is SO glad he moved !! They literally roll out the red carpet to welcome everyone. From the pool to the art studio to the movie theatre with recliners, it’s really FUN !! And when he declines further the assisted living is across the street.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Texas’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Texas’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored The Forum at Memorial Woods 9.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies.
