THE BRISTOL IS A NIGHTMARE. DO NOT SEND LOVED ONES THERE.
I want to start out by urging whomever is reading these reviews in order to decide whether to send your loved one to The Bristol to NOT send anyone whom you care about there. The facility is a COVID nightmare. If I would have known that the Bristol had over 120 cases of COVID-19 of both its residents and staff since last [date removed], I would have never sent my mother there. There is the lack of ability to call their number and get anyone to speak with----EVER. I would call to speak with a therapist or social worker or nurse and more often than not, I would get a recorded message. They do not appear to understand the anguish that a loved one experiences by not knowing what is happening. Their problem is that they are just too large and cannot handle the volume of patients. They appear to be more concerned about the money than treating the patients. Since my Mom has left The Bristol, she is doing much better since she no longer is locked down as she was at The Bristol. It's just awful!!

If I would have known that the Bristol had over 120 cases of COVID-19 of both its residents and staff since last [name removed], I would have never sent my mother there. The Bristol has shut down any normalcy of living standards for their patients since COVID-19 has so drastically affected their facility. When I asked a staff member when my mother was allowed to leave her room, I was told that due to the COVID situation, that patients are never allowed to leave their rooms. Contrast this with her new facility where we now have 24 hour access to my mom and only need to have our temperature checked to come inside. Also, residents in my mom's new facility have full activities daily and eat together and play games and even have fun happy hours. I am so thankful my mom is out of The Bristol.

THE BRISTOL OF TAMPA IS THE WORST PLACE TO PUT YOUR LOVE ONES . THE STAFF ARE NASTY AND DISRESPECTFUL TO THE Residents and they have Roaches and the staff does not care for the restaurant as far as I'm concerned I wouldn't put my worst enemy there this place should be closed out and the staff should be put in jail

Don't Go
DON'T SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!!! We brought my mother in law to the Bristol for a 5 day respite. I checked her in and hospice sent her medicine list. I spoke with the morning staff about the fact she can't walk, or sit up well and falls over. I came in that evening and was so shocked I had to call hospice to take her home. There is not enough staff to care for the patients and nobody seems willing to help a patient that isn't assigned to them. Here is a synopsis of what happened: When I arrived I found her slumped over in a wheel chair and half falling out (we had discussed the need for her to have a chair that leaned back since she is mostly bed bound.) She was sitting in a room with 20 or more memory care patients with only 1 cna. I asked for help and she couldn't/wouldn't provide it herself. Then, when others were asked they also declined. When I finally got her to bed, I asked about her meds and how she ate. They never got her all her meds and wouldn't have if I hadn't been there. They also didn't have fall mats by her bed and it took 45 minutes for a manager to respond to my request.

Terrible!!!
My sister is in Bristol of Tampa for 6 weeks now, I have tried to get ahold of her case worker. In 6 weeks i still do not know who she is. On [date removed] I overnighted a package to my sister, it showed it got delivered at 10:18am and was signed for. I called 5 times yesterday to see why my sister has not received it and no one has answered that question. They just don't know where it is. This is very unacceptable for a 4 star rated Nursing/?Rehab. How can you loose something that was signed for. Still on [date removed] waiting. The best they said they could do is call Monday. Does anyone know who owns or runs this facility.

Awful ! Terrrible ! Place For Your Loved Ones !
my husband and I toured this facility and it seems fine and the lady that took us on the tour was nice, so we decided it was the right place for her and then it began. The first night it was fine and then the second night my mom had to go to the bathroom and the CRN told her to shut up and go to the sleep. We reported it ! Her left leg is suppose to be elevated and was not now it is swelling because they will not elevate it. She is partially crippled on the left side so it is there job to help. The food is awful and they serve everyone koolaid because it is the cheapest thing to serve. third night she had to go to the bathroom and they took to 2 hours to take her to the bathroom and she wet herself and when they showed up they told her she wasn't the only one there that needed help. She didn't start physical therapy until that Friday after I kept saying something to them about it.Brother went to check on her and found her sitting in a chair feet dangling and wet she had been there for a couple hours and almost out of the chair. They were told to take her to the room and get the wet clothes off of her and told him when they got ready. They play the nice game but at night when you are gone the patients get ignored.. AWFUL ! AWFUL ! Place !

Review of The Bristol At Tampa Rehabilitation & Nursing Center
They're treating my loved one fine. The doctor’s visit once a month. They have some nice nurses. They're on schedule. Nurses are coming right and left, asking if the patients need anything. They're attentive. He does his therapy. They're very clean. I go out there, and they go cleaning under the floor, back and forth. They're a nice group. In my husband's words, this is the best place he's laid up overnight! The meals are good. I like what they're offering my husband, and he does eat it. They keep us informed. Nobody has phones in their room. I think it would be helpful for my husband.

Overall it is pretty good. One time I asked them to help and they were unfriendly with an attitude. One time it two hours to change and it took a while to get pain medication. The bathroom shower is not clean. The meals are pretty good. My mom has been asking to speak with the social worker and she has not gotten back to her yet for 3 weeks.

From what I have seen, my mother's stay has been very great. I love how they treat her and they are making sure that she gets up to move around every day. They are very good at keeping me informed. When I ask the CNAs to do something for her, they do it right away with no hesitation. The facility has no smell to it like other facilities like this. She is eating now, she was not eating at a previous facility she was at.

I like that the facility is more like a family and seems like it's homey. It is very clean. My mom is a picky eater, and doesn't want to eat, period. It has nothing to do with the food.

They've been very good to my sister, it's not perfect but they're trying. They work very very hard to keep that place clean. They try very hard to give her food she can have on her limited diet. There were a few glitches with communication early on, but they've been very good lately.

It seems not to be as clean as it used to be. The care isn't as good, and they seem short on CNAs. We had a bad experience with one of the caregivers. The nurses aren't very personable.

They lack bedside manner, they dictate instead of explain. My father goes there to help my mom and they are not kind to him. Some of them are nice but a few of them are not at all. The alarm system is insane and non-stop beeping, which is very hard on my mom with her hearing aids. I asked them to get a wider toilet and to help my mom to the restroom more promptly and they gave her a catheter instead. The doors are locked but there's no actual security and it's a very bad neighborhood. When I leave after dark, I don't feel safe at all. She's making progress with the therapy, but the communication is a problem. They run tests and we can't get results. I had to clean another person's urine off the toilet so my mother could use it. The TV is hanging by one screw and even the tech guy couldn't figure out how to work the closed captioning on it. She's on a special diet, and it looks healthy, and they stick to the doctor's orders. They at least try to keep me informed

about The Bristol at Tampa

A Place for Mom has scored The Bristol at Tampa 7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
