Great staff Slow elevators
The staff is wonderful, Friendly and helpful.
My problem is that I am able bodied and half of the people who live here are not.
It's depressing to be around so many people with walkers, wheelchairs and scooters.
It's supposed to be independent living, right?
The ADA brought a law suit and now they have to take non independent people if they have their own caretaker.

Welcoming and Attentive to Residents
They gave great attention to my mom's move-in to ensure everything went smoothly. They have been attentive to making her feel welcomed and comfortable. She enjoys meeting other residents in the dining room and at activities. The services they offer (which include meals, housekeeping and 24-hour concierge) make living there a great value compared to other senior communities in the area.

People who care at an unbeatable location
The Breakers at Edgewater Beach is a beautiful building. We chose this community because it is in a good proximity to grocery stores and dining. We also chose this community because of a very helpful staff - they were especially helpful during the application process.

Great move in experience - attentive management and staff
I spent last summer here at The Breakers and came back again this summer. The move in experience was very smooth and I appreciate all the effort to make my arrival an easy one. The staff are friendly and listened to my needs, working to solve issues very quickly. I love this neighborhood and appreciate being able to come for a couple months at a time. The services here at The Breakers are great. The short term renters are able to participate fully in resident activities and integrate into the community quickly. My apartment has a spectacular view of the lake. The wonderful atrium dining room is so special and the dining staff are amazing. I always feel welcome.

Recommend this place but note...
Apartment are ok. Views great.
Elevator situation is horrible. Not sure what can be done but they take forever and it takes so long to load and unload them.
Staff are generally nice.
It's good. Felt kind of ripped off when we left for a sister community but that's the way these places seem to roll.

Great staff
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the staff at The Breakers. They are helpful and caring--always smiling and polite. From when I moved in and one of the movers broke a light fixture. It was cleaned up and replaced before I knew it. If I have a problem they are quick to respond and offer assistance.

Fabulous facility with great views
My mom seems to like the meals that are served.
She stays very busy with all of the activities that the facility provides.
I have not interacted much with the staff myself, but mom is very happy.

I would recommend this facility to others. The staff is always upbeat and helpful. The housekeeping is great. My apartment is cleaned once a week and left sparkling. The woman who cleans is wonderful - accommodating and efficient. The meals could be better, the vegetables are over cooked

Very positive experience - friendly staff!
I like all of the activities at The Breakers, like improv class, the presentations, sing alongs, and Scrabble. Also, I appreciate the transportation to groceries, museums and the symphony. I love my beautiful apartment with a view of the lake, great light for my plants, the quiet atmosphere. And I enjoy the oven as well, since I still love to bake! The dining room and front desk staff are also very helpful and kind.

Variety of trips around town
I like the trips to places like Disney exhibit The Elmhurst History Museum and a brewery recently. And the people, I have many friends here if I were in a regular apartment I wouldn't see as many people.

Warm and friendly place
It's such a warm and friendly environment and feels like a community of dear friends. From the perspective of a daughter I like to know my mother and Aunt have so many activities to attend and they are always celebrating something! I know they are safe and well cared for.

I like being with people all the time instead of being by myself and that it's pet friendly so I can pet the dogs on the elevator! Also like the variety of exercise classes. We are lucky to have excellent musicians perform here!
