About the facility
The Blake at Lafayette

The vibrant exterior of The Blake at Lafayette welcomes seniors to the upscale resort-style senior living community in Lafayette, Louisiana. Have peace of mind knowing your loved one is within driving distance of multiple medical facilities, including hospitals. Travel back in time to the 1800s at the authentic cultural center with replicated buildings from that era. Nature lovers can travel south to a 185-acre state park where they can fish and relax on the beach.

From practicing golfing skills on the putting green to playing a game of pool, seniors have a variety of activities promoting socialization. Maintain physical well-being through classes at the community’s fitness center. Natural light fills the formal restaurant-style dining room where a range of dishes are prepared by professional chefs. Or, instead of a sit-down restaurant, experience happy hour at the bar and lounge or an ice cream social at the cafe. Religious seniors can continue their worship services among comfortable cushioned seating in the on-site nondenominational chapel.

The charming yet modern community specializes in assisted living and memory care. Homey studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments have high ceilings creating a spacious ambience. Apartments may include a balcony overlooking the landscaped courtyard where seniors can walk along...

Mom Happy, Family Happy
We were, and continue to be, very impressed with The Blake! The staff is polite, professional, yet very warm and friendly. The food is very good - a healthy, balanced mix of local favorites. The rooms are well-designed, and the grounds are well maintained. Mom seems to enjoy the activities there. We miss her, but are glad she's back in her home town and spending her remaining days among such a nice community!

Great Place to Be
We are really satisfied with the community! The staff show genuine care for the resident and looking at for their best interest. The staff communication is wonderful with the family. There are three meals a day served to the residents and they have choices and can ask for additonal.

Happy at The Blake
The most important thing for us is our loved one is much healthier and happier being there. It took him a little while to adjust, but I think he's doing so much better than he ever would have done staying at home. He was in a wheelchair when he went in, and now he's walking with a walker and doesn't even use the wheelchair at all. I've been very pleased with the staff. There are a lot of activities offered. It's very expensive, but we want him in a good place. And ultimately he really loves it there.

A Nice Place for Residents That Need Memory Care
I think they have a caring staff and do well in taking care of the residents here. The staff are excellent to work with and resolve any questions or concerns quickly. The community is assisting with bathing, dressing, laundry service, and hygiene for my loved one. The memory care is a secure area. I am disappointed in the meals, there is only one selection. It would be nice to see the residents have options to choose from for meals. There are lots of activities for the residents to engage with.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Louisiana regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Louisiana regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored The Blake at Lafayette 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
