Safe, supportive and very well managed
My father has been a resident here for about 18 months. He has settled in beautifully! There were initially some snags with showers or laundry not happening as scheduled, but management was immediately available to problem solve, and things are going so smoothly now. Dad enjoys the staff the activities and the food. Everyone there knows him by name and know exactly where he should be and when he needs to be there. I'm very happy with The Addison!

Resident of 10 months- Memory Care
The transition from home to The Addison was fairly smooth. The staff has been attentive to my mother who is type 1 diabetic. She mentioned the other day that "a;; of the food have is good" as well. Mon enjoys sitting outside in the courtyard on nice days. The caregivers and Medtee staff are all attentive. Mom is in the right place.

Absolutely Breath Taking
One of the best experiences I’ve had touring assisted living communities. The community was exceptionally clean, and the residents appeared happy, engaged, and well cared for. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and forthcoming with information, which made the visit feel both comfortable and informative. This community truly painted a clear picture of what “home away from home” should feel like.

Comfortable, safe place for Mom to live
Mom has recently moved from the assisted living side of the building to the memory care side. Although this was a big change the staff at The Addison has done everything they can to make the transition as smooth as possible. The med techs and caregivers are so warm, loving and ready to smile! They treat the residents with love! The activities director work very hard to engage the residents and entertain them.

Great community partner
I dropped in to learn about long term memory care and I was warmly welcomed and though staff took tome to my questions, I don't need the services night now, but I fell more prepared for the future. I also took the control and it was warm and inviting the rooms way very large and had private bathroom. Great Job!

PEACE
Everytime I have been to this facility to visit my friend.... it is ALWAYS very clean, peaceful, and warm. The staff is always kind and patient with the resident. It's real. Not because I'm visiting because I'm behind them ... unseen most of the time. My friend has NEVER said a discouraging word about them. Just sings praises. I've visited other facilities like this and this one is one of my top two. Affordability....#1.

Be a patient advocate for your loved one, wherever you go
We're concerned with staff shortages at this facility. Caregivers are helping in dining, which causes a shortage of available caregivers etc. There was also a hidden cost with pharmacy/medications. We weren't aware until after we moved mom in that we were required to use their one pharmacy option and that it would cost extra. As far as meals, they don't accommodate special diets or have alternative options for them (for example, lactose intolerance). We were also promised a care team meeting within 72 hours of moving mom in. It took way longer than that and we had to ask about it several times before it finally happened. Communication with the family is not great. Communication within the staff isn't either. If we tell the daytime care staff something, it isn't relayed to the night staff unless we tell them ourselves. Housekeeping is weekly and very thorough. I would possibly recommend them to family and friends, but I would definitely relay the issues and concerns that we have. The bottom line is, you have to be a patient advocate for your loved one, anywhere you go. Some more than others, but here for sure. That's how we're making it work here for mom.

Tour experience
We toured with The Mansions of Alpharetta and really liked what we saw. The residents in memory care seemed to be lower level than my loved one was so I just did not think that she was going to fit in. She needs a lot of activities to stay engaged.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Georgia’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Georgia’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored The Addison of Alpharetta 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
