Sycamore Senior Village has an infestation of "Bed Bugs" being spread amongst the community & elsewhere. While managers, Fenix [removed] & Richard [removed] are unresponsive and ignorant to complaints, they are responsible for the transport and spread of the uncontrolled "Bed Bug" population that originated @ Syc . Village and is rapidly spreading who knows where due to Management neglect. Please beware that tenant in unit [removed] was forced out of her unit to discover that she too had been invaded by 'Bed Bugs!'out to discover

Very friendly staff initially, but not as many services available as they told us. Have been somewhat slow to respond to requests for my mother as well. Overall, most residents seem happy to be there and the value is great.

The room is what I expected.
As soon as I moved in the elevators broke, I chose it mostly for the elevators, and the wide corridors. It has broken down a few times, and it takes a while to fix, as the parts come from Europe. When they renovated the community, they didn't update the elevators. The rods in the closet are kind of flimsy, there is only one outlet in the bathroom, the sinks are sloped. They cleaned the carpets in the hallway recently, but they got dirty again pretty quickly. Everyone was very friendly, and they gave me good reports on the building, but as soon as I moved in I heard that they broke down all the time. They have potlucks from time to time, but they have been cancelled at the last minute before. I chose this based on the availability, and the location. It's a nice area of town, but my insurance went up when the zip code.

Do Your Due Diligence
September 2015: As a tenant, it is difficult to get to the bottom of problems here, and they increasingly exist. Is this the fault of overwhelmed management; or is this due to financial constraints imposed upon management by the parent corporation, Richman Properties? Apartments, building, and grounds are nice, but maintenance issues often take too long to resolve. More full time professional staff is needed. Prospective tenants should be more carefully screened, and lease rules should be more strictly enforced. [removed] A key-card entry security gate would stop 90% of security issues that result in nuisance or crime. No one requiring a live-in or regular part-time aide should be accepted for residency. They belong in an assisted living facility. Since apartments are not air conditioned, tenants should be permitted to purchase their own ac units and be required to pay a reasonable fee for maintenance staff to safely install them. Most activities mentioned in other reviews no longer exist. No Trader Joe's food days. No movies. Laundry rooms are clean but machines are not well maintained. Yes, too many questionable young people live here. Vandalism could be curbed with more effective video monitoring. The building certainly provides fair value, but at what hidden cost to one's basic enjoyment of living here?

It's very misleading, thinking it's a senior apartment complex.
It's very misleading, thinking it's a senior apartment complex. The people aren't in the office very often when you need to do stuff. There is a courtyard in the middle and people go out and smoke [removed]. It's not all seniors, if there is one senior in an apartment, then anyone else could live there. They have a computer room, but since they are broken they just have them locked up, they will let you in with your own device, but it's not the same. They have pot lucks and movie nights, but it's not all senior geared.

A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing
I have lived here for the past 3 years. When I moved in, the complex was clean, and safe, and trustworthy staff but now with a new manager, Fenix Pleitez, the complex is not dirty, and unsafe because she took away the security even knowing that gang members live next door. And she has also stopped the cleaning staff for unknown reasons. She does not care about the tenants well being, all she cares about is her own image, She has lied to many tenants, and she has NO credibility because of her lying. There are also many mental heath here younger then 55 who does not take their medication. This place is a nice place to live in and Ms. Pleitez is a Slumload. Also, Oxnard police is always here regarding drugs and prostitution problems here. Management is aware of the problems but refuse to do anything about it.
