Brandi has hired and trained all staff to check on the residents more often than the larger facilities. They will cook anyone something to eat, if they want it, and are hungry, at any time. The meals they serve are really nutritious and good. They clean and shampoo their carpets, each time they are dirty or something is spilled on them. This includes each room that someone lives in. The room size is fine for one person. The room that is shared by 2 people, is really big enough for 2 separate people to live in nicely. Their medications are give on time to each resident. They offer activities and exercises for the residents daily. They try to make it more of a home setting, rather than a big facility setting. To me, they don't have people just sitting in a wheel chair, alone in their room, not being checked on regularly. Each resident wears an emergency alert necklace, if they were to fall in their room, all they have to do is push the alert necklace and someone is right there in the room. Unlike the bigger facility, her door is not shut and locked in order to keep other residents out. It doesn't have to be an emergency either. If the resident needs help going to the bathroom, they can push their alert necklace, and it rings up in the kitchen/office area, and staff is right there to help them. The person doesn't have to wait, because there isn't enough staff working. If they didn't want to walk to get a snack or something to eat, all the person has to do is push the alert necklace and the staff comes. At night, if the staff see a resident isn't going to bed, such as person with dementia, they come around all hours of the night and either talk to them as to why they aren't going to bed, or if something is bothering them, they sit with them awhile before they get them in bed. The staff act like they really care, and you don't hear complaints, such as there aren't enough people to work, or something is going on at the facility that is gossip. The staff seem to be happy all the time and seem to take care of each individual as if they were their own family member. I can't say enough good things about Bunyan Stratford Home! I am so grateful A Place For Mom, referred me to them! The facility officially opened in May of 2011 and can house six live-in residents and six adult daycare residents. Currently, Stratford Home is not part of a chain but independently owned. 24-hour licensed staff are available to help with any task an elderly person may have trouble doing alone. The mission of Stratford Home is to provide safe and efficient patient-centered care while attaining respect and dignity for each resident. The smaller setting at Stratford Home allows patients to receive more individualized care while also creating a 'family' like atmosphere for not only residents but for staff and family members as well.
