Our experience with Caruth Haven Court has been okay.
We had to have a personal caregiver come in because people don't respond to the calls in a timely manner. It's that way everywhere, we've haven't had a place where staff have responded within 15 minutes. Aside from that, it's pretty and the food is really good.

About average
I am the legal guardian of a resident. He receives more family visits than most (please not no one can just drop off a lived one ANYWHERE and expect them to be taken care of properly at any price point). The medical care is better than most places by far.
In house doctors nurses techs very very good. The food is average to worse than average (it is not healthful at all. Lots of heavy foods.)
The biggest problem is the complete laziness when it comes to actually caring for the residents’ needs in room. Other than contant emptying of rubbish bins (more to check on residents than actually to help but still more than most and definitely a plus) only family takes care of anything but a once a week cleaning. And it does not get very clean at all. Room staff totally ignores any tripping hazards plumbing issues etc.
If the medical aspect were not so good I somd be moving my loved one tomorrow.

Families BEWARE
In a crisis we needed to find a place, for our loved one right away, and her doctors suggested memory care. The community leadership convinced us that memory care was not needed and they placed her in a vacant room. I'm convinced they just wanted to fill the room. They charged us a fortune and left my loved one in her room all day. She was not getting crucial medication on time, and they were not very attentive to her needs, wouldn't return calls and still have not provided an accounting for all the charges they withdrew from her bank account. I had to close the account to keep them from continuing to take her money. It's one big scam in my opinion.
Our family member has late stage dementia. One morning she got angry, as dementia patients sometimes do. She broke a plate and they called the police and had her taken to the hospital in HANDCUFFS!

Families in Crisis Beware
We needed to find a place, for my loved one right away, and the doctors suggested memory care. The community convinced us that memory care was not needed. My loved one was not getting medication on time, and they were not very attentive. They promised different things, and never delivered on anything. It was the worst experience, for my loved one and our familiy.

This community was really nice. We were able to have lunch here and it was really good and they had a great chef. But they felt like my loved one did not qualify for assisted living. This was our first move so in order to get her to go we had to find someone who could handle her needs.

Great fit for my mom with attentive staff
I think that have done a really great job during the pandemic keeping the residents safe and communicating with the families. The executive director sends out weekly emails and voicemails with guidelines and updates of what they are doing which is very helpful. They have done a great communicating my mom's personal needs and accepting supplies in a safe manner. We chose community because the food was good, the location and it's a smaller community which I felt was more manageable for my mom. They customize the food and accommodate my mom's dietary restrictions. I would recommend this community to other families. The nurse that manages the wellness piece and coordinates the doctor visit for the community, has done a great job communicating with us and we have been pleased with the doctor.

Staff is communicative
The staff at Caruth Haven Court is very caring, they took care of my mother, and I could always get in touch with them if I needed to. They were very good at keeping you in the know with giving you updates on everything. They have great activities such as morning yoga, a 3:00pm happy hour, and bingo. They also offer outings, but my mother has not participated considering her condition. However, they do still keep her busy. She has dementia and they would take her upstairs to the memory care and have her color. My mother used to have a tendency to wander, but with her being around people and they have things to keep her busy it has been really good for her.

I had recently taken a tour of this community for my loved one and I have no complaints of how things had went things had went. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions I had for them in detail. I liked the open floor plan as well as the different amenities they had for the residents. It was just not the right fit for us in the end decision.

Unfortunately our experience with Caruth ended up being a very negative one. We toured this place and it looked wonderful, we went in feeling like this was the perfect fit. They really seemed to understand what our loved one was going through, and assured us they could handle it.
However, from the day he moved in I just got call after call of them complaining about his behaviors and suggesting that we send him to Haven to have his medication adjusted. They just could not handle his needs like they said they would be able to. The caregivers here are nice people, and I think they really tried, but the place seemed very shortstaffed. Based on our experience I just can't recommend them, we had to move my loved one elsewhere after only a few weeks.
