Saxony Court Review
So far it has been very nice. It's a large building, they have lots of activities so you can stay busy most of the time. Food is like the rest of the facilities. Most apartments have been remodeled. It has style because it's an old building that has style to it and they have some carports

Things to know
They have a Life Alert "necklace" that everyone in assisted living must wear at a cost of $30/month. The batteries need replacement constantly so that, in the event of you needed it in the middle of the night, chances are it would be useless. Our loved one has needed numerous doctor appointments. There is a lack of communication between us and administration so we never know for sure when a new need is being tended to. There seems to be no push to get appropriate exercise. There is also little done to encourage the resident to take advantage of the activities offered. The facility is clean and great effort is made with decorating for events and making everything cheerful. Staff and residents seem cheerful and helpful.

Terrible
This is the kind of nightmare that you see on the news. Absolutely the worst place we could have sent my mother. Within the first two days they gave her the wrong medicine that cause her to hallucinate. She was left in her room in a wheel chair facing the wall where she slipped out of and the maintenance man found her (they were to check on her every 2 hours). Her meals were consistently late and cold. We were shown a nice clean room with modern furniture and she was placed in a dirty room with furniture from the 70's. Please do NOT take your loved ones to this facility. They lie and they don't care.

Hit A Home Run with Saxony Court
- staff learned my Mom's name immediately and used it - very warm greeting when she moved in, staff stopped by to ask what she needs - all requests Mom has made were taken care of very quickly - the Chef is a Delight and prepares delicious food. - she participates in Movies, Bingo, live entertainment, Rummikub, arm chair exercises and church. She has a new home that she really loves. Yes, I would highly recommend Saxony if asked.

Tour Review
Our family had an in-person tour with Saxony Court and the main area at the time was under construction and the rooms were dated. The bathroom had a low toilet and a step in to the shower that did not work for our loved ones needs.

I toured this facility and it was good. It was clean and the staff was friendly. Our loved one had dementia, so we were looking for something a little more secure. For that reason, it wasn't the best fit for us. Otherwise, I would recommend touring the facility as an option.

I call it home
I am in Independent Living but if you require Assisted Living they are a great options too. They also have top quality rehab on site. I would recommend it to anyone. Room sizes are nice. hey could use new windows.I feel the price is a little high. I only moved in a little while before the quarantine was set in place due to Covid-19. They are doing a good job.

Great Food Nice Staff
We looked at several places before deciding on Riverview for my Grandma. Riverview was the best fit for her needs. The food is great with so many choices available. We frequently join her for dinner in their restaurant. All of the staff are very nice and welcoming. It is reassuring that grandma is in a safe place.

Great community caring staff
We have looked at many communities for my grandpa. When we visited Riverview we knew immediately that this was the right place for us. Before we moved in they invited us to stay for a meal. Not only was the food good, but there were so many choices available. We talked to several residents while we were there and they all said how happy they were. Their assisted living floor has wonderful staff. They have gone out of their way to welcome my grandpa and I feel comfortable that he is safe and cared for when I leave. It is very reassuring that there is a nurse there 24 hours a day.

Riverview Senior Living
For seniors with some senility issues, the documentation process is overwhelming and wasn't explained in advance to us ... took about an hour which caused my parent to become very overwhelmed, angry, and frustrated. The actual place is very pretty with well kept common areas. While the rooms are cleaned, refurbished before a new occupant moves in, the actual living quarters are out of date (kitchen cabinets are well used and need replaced ... at least in the unit my parent got). The on-site caregivers are wonderful (outside agencies). My parent is adjusting well and likes the facility. Some of the social activities people need to understand that seniors are not as quick to comprehend, can be hard of hearing and may need extra time to participate in the activity. The person who currently runs the Bingo activity goes way to fast for seniors! The maintenance people are quick to address issues.

Wonderful!
They've been wonderful. The cleanliness is good and they do clean her room once a week. She seems to be satisfied with that. We've been up there and her apartment is always clean. She said she's treated like a queen. She’s is in an independent apartment. So they clean her room once a week and take her laundry and do that. She has two chains that she can pull for help if she needs it. She has her kitty with her. She gets three meals a day and she goes down to where they serve them restaurant style. They have a menu with several choices and she says the food is wonderful. There are lots and lots of activities. She's gone to a few. They are associated with the Kroger store that's not too far from them. That pharmacy will deliver to her door. They have a transportation service. If she doesn’t have a way to get to her doctor they will take her. Some of her doctors are 15 – 20 miles away and it’s not a problem. As far as cost and what they had to offer Riverview is great! It's a very good fit.

Welcomes with Open Arms
We chose Riverview because their staff is just wonderful. The entire staff really goes above and beyond to help, accommodate and solve any problems that arise. Riverview is such a compassionate community, when there was a flood in the local community and people were forced from their homes, Riverview opened their doors to everyone that was affected and offered them a place to live. My parents were looking for a community during this time and due to the flood, Riverview’s' only two bedroom apartment available was the model they use to show everyone, they rented the model to my parents and now have no model to show. The fact that Riverview was willing to make it happen and sacrifice so much really is a difference maker when choosing a community. When I was looking at communities and calling around Mercedes at Riverview was the right person with the right answers at the right time. I called in panic and she just made it so much easier and really put my mind at ease. I promise the staff at Riverview could not be talked up enough about for what they do. My parents have stretched the staff and really have tested them and each time the staff rises to the challenge and really over comes the obstacles. The fact that Riverview offered to help everyone in need in the surrounding community really says a lot about Riverview their passion to help others when in need is just unheard of.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Illinois regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Illinois regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Saxony Court 7.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
