With saddened heart
Our mother was a resident in independent living with a beautiful apartment. She then transferred to assisted living. All the staff have been kind, professional and caring. The facility is gorgeous. So why only 2 stars? Peabody place is licensed for 805, meaning they can care for residents at a higher level of care. Not skilled nursing. We understood this, but due to low staffing, they were not able to keep our mother. The family is very disappointed that this was NOT explained to us sooner. Had we known this, we would have made other arrangements. As it is our mother will have to move 4 times in 14 months, which has destabilized her and come to great expense, having to pay for 2 places at a time. The management has not worked with us on this issue, when clearly it is the facilities issue with not having enough staff to meet her needs. Know BEFORE you go.

Peabody Home....
I love the Peabody Home! My Mom entered as Assisted living and has seamlessly moved to more nursing care as her dementia has progressed. They take very good care of my Mom, they are genuinely caring. I would recommend rocks!this home to anyone looking for any level of care.

I think it is a very safe and welcoming place for our moms and dads and grandparents and other loved ones who are in a situation where there aren't a lot of options. I think the size of Peabody Home makes it an ideal situation because it's not so huge, it's more family like. Everybody I've talked to thinks very highly of the Peabody Home and we didn't know that going in. They were the only place that was even interested in talking to us, and the were so accommodating they came to the home and dropped off the paperwork and application and spoke with us, and helped make it less stressful for us. They were very helpful on their end in helping us make sure that we had everything we needed for our legal paperwork. I don't think enough people know about them. They are close with the community as well, they have an incredible crew of volunteers that come in everyday.

The home was delightful, clean, homey, and spacious. Sandi is a warm, caring former nurse who knows all the feelings that go into placing a parent in a home. The head nurse was very obviously involved with each of her patients. Each floor is considered a family and treated as such. Family room and kitchen on each floor, some private baths but mostly shared by 2 or 4 people. Spotlessly cllean. No odors, even in what used to be the basemenlt! I was VERY impressed. Outside area is beautful, overlooking the river on 3 sides.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the New Hampshire regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about New Hampshire regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Peabody Home 6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
