Safe and friendly place to call home
My grandfather is a resident at Mission Commons. It was a sad day to remove him from his house because of his safety due to dementia.
One thing he always says when I pick him up or visit him is how much he loves mission commons.
He gets to get out and socialize and have three great meals with other people instead of by himself. And the staff are great and really love and care for the residents. There is always something to do at mission commons.
I wanted him to move in with us but he still wanted his independence and mission commons offers that.

Accommodating and Assuring
I was able to meet with [name removed] at Mission Commons. [name removed] was very inviting and provided several details of the facility including cost and a list of the services provided to residents. [name removed] gave me a tour of the facility along with a vacant unit to get a better idea of living space for mom. [name removed] provided assurance that the facility could be a good fit for my mom's needs. [name removed] also provided follow up to ensure that I was not left with any unanswered questions.

Great place
From the moment we walked in my mom loved it. [name removed]was wonderful touring us We are praying about if my mom is gonna go there. They are under remodeling which looks like it’s gonna be beautiful. Looks like all

On a search
[name removed] gave me a tour of the place and a one bedroom apartment the apartment was nice and the place seemed OK. I appreciated the information and [name removed] kindness. I also met with an [name removed] who works for a separate company that provides the care for the people that live there she was nice and helpful as well. This was the first place that I had visited so I’d like to see some other facilities so I can have an idea of what to expect. Finding an environment that’s safe and has the level of care my parents need is so important as well finding an environment that they can thrive in.

Our Family's Experience
The apartment was roomy and functional. They only clean once a week so I had to frequently vacuum up cracker crumbs and such from the floors during the week. The staff was very friendly with exception of the director, [name removed]. She was rather terse and unapproachable. The dining room atmosphere was nice and the food servers were WONDERFUL but the food was frequently less than adequate. For example if they served fried chicken, it would be two dried up chicken wings with barely any meat on them. They also relied a lot on sandwiches of some sort versus well-balanced meals. I met with the chef and he said they used to have enough budget to serve two vegetables per day but now they can only serve one per day. The chef told me their daily food budget per person is only $[removed]. I got to know a vegetarian resident there and the only vegetarian choices were salad or a bean and cheese burrito. The activities they offered seemed enjoyable and frequent and all the residents were nice and welcoming.

Our families experience.
The staff are very nice but did seem to push a move in. They somewhat forgot about my mom moving in and never even put up a welcome sign like I have seen them do for others. Once we signed paperwork it was as if they got us and they don't care anymore. However as long as you have family to follow up on everything and go ask questions that helped get her moved in smoothly.
The place is older looking but they are about to do a renovation. Lots of noise and construction at this time. The interior of the unit is newer and nice looking.
My mom has been happy with the food overall and has met some very nice people.

really give this some thought and no place is perfect.
Overall would be 3+. Food isn't that good and meeting with the Chef ask for options and no changes. He is fairly new, 3 months and 3 meetings and only thing I see is hot dogs are gone and toasted cheese sandwich has been added. Food is consistently barely warm when served, service is slow. They are going through remodeling and no compensation for noise, mess and inconvenience.

Not Too Far From Perfect
I think the biggest complaint is the food. It would be nice if they tried to improve the presentation of their food. The food is alright-nothing to brag about. Add to the mediocrity of the food its poor presentation & it doesn’t do well.

I like the yummy food, the variety of activities, and the caring caregivers (Max Care At Home, LLC). I feel safe here and have made many friends. The Mission Commons shuttle bus has been very helpful in getting me to and from appointments.

Not recommended
It was great before COVID, but after shutting in the residents for a full year, and changes in management, it was no longer a welcoming place. My mom's carpet was held down by duct tape for a year. They never cleaned the carpet and we finally paid to have it done. The staff was hostile at times, as my mom was suffering from dementia before we finally moved her to a better place. Generally, the facility is nice. My mom liked the food and the other residents were kind and friendly. Important to remember -- they raised the rent the maximum every year. We started at [fee removed] in 2019 and increased to [fee removed]by 2024. They will gouge you if they can. Find another place

Love the apartments and the wonderful staff
The value for cost - costly (but appreciate not worrying about my Father in Law). We would give the friendliness of the staff a 5 plus! What we like the most about the community is the safety and quality of care are appreciated. Not happy about new owner and taking away the assisted living program. Dad is 98 and we picked Mission Commons for if he did need help as an older resident. Also Dad loves playing pool - might be taking that away ( new owner).

Mission Commons Review
My mom has been residing at Mission Commons for almost 3 months, but it feels like almost a year. I mean this in a good way. The staff and residents are approachable and welcoming.
Her caregivers have compassion and understanding towards seniors. They help take care of her pets. So appreciated! And, the food is excellent!
Most importantly, my mom is thriving. She loves her apartment, the people, food and facility.

Everyone seemed very pleasant and professional....
Genuine concern and care for the residents, frosted with professionalism should be the hallmark of every manager/employee.
Food/Meals are challenging....maybe take regular questionnaires to discover the needs/wants of the residents.
