BUT FOR THE USE OF XFINITY FOR WI-FI AND TV/CABLE, THIS COMMUNITY WOULD GET A 5+++.
If it were not for the presence of Xfinity in the mix, I would give the overall experience a 5 BUT, then there is Xfinity. Xfinity is used for TV separately. Xfinity is used for wi-fi separately. Two different accounts. I pay for my own wi-fi connection. The TV connection is free and includes regular TV and cable connections. Reception is good. BUT, the non-English speaking Xfinity technicians are not trained AT ALL. They are reading the "how to" instructions on their telephones AND being led step by step by a "supervisor" on the phone. First, 3 guys showed up to connect my wi fi because I am a lawyer and have to have access to my files in the cloud plus the District Clerk's portal to the courts I work in. The three guys (non-English speaking, untrained, trying to read the "how to" instructions and/or talk with a supervisor about what to do) were getting nowhere. The property manager here, who speaks fluent Spanish intervened and showed them what needed to be done and in fairly short order, I was up and running with wi fi. (That alone should have earned the facility a 5 rating.) Unfortunately, some time later, another technician showed up to hook up my TV connection. He disconnected the wi-fi connection and I was without wi-fi for 10 days to 2 weeks, which caused a court to dismiss one of my cases. When the next technician showed up, a young woman, non-English speaking, she too did not have a clue what to do. She too called a supervisor to help her. He did not know the set up here until I explained it to him at which time he "caught on" and was eventually able to get the wi-fi working. Not a good start at all. The facility gets a 5 for being able to get me up and running the first time BUT the facility was not willing to call Xfinity and demand that they get their act together.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Maintenance/apartment changes are handled expeditiously and professionally. For instance, my bedroom closet had one of those wire clothes racks / shelves. Under the weight of my clothing (and not all of it at that) it was beginning to bow and was clearly going to pull itself out of the wall and fall (and I have not been here a full month yet). I bought a wood clothing rod and 4 braces at Berring's Hardware and asked the maintenance man to install it. The next day it was done. He worked to understand exactly what I was trying to accomplish, followed my instructions and it worked brilliantly.... and he left the shelf of the wire hanging rack in place so I can use it for light things, like shoe boxes, linens, towels, and hats.
The meals are tasty....a little too focused on carbs and sweets, but all one needs to do is "say no" to oneself. The portions are reasonable. One does not have to gain weight if one makes good choices. The serving staff (all non-English-speaking) work to learn the names of new residents quickly and are very efficient in serving the food and clearing the tables at the end of the meals. Many residents linger at table after meals to chat with other residents. The Chef is really good with soups (which I happen to love) and fish, which is a mainstay of my diet. I am also a lover of vegetables and he does a good job of choosing which one's to serve with which protein.
The residents, for the most part, are very friendly. A few of us gather under the portico in the evening after the sun goes down to enjoy the cool evening breeze and chat. I must also say that the entire community has truly embraced my Daisy, a 5 year old "Heinz-59" "off the street" dog with a sweet and gentle nature.
I love my apartment....a 2 bedroom. Still dealing with unpacking boxes and I brought too much furniture, but I am pleased. I feel safe. I do not feel cramped, even with the excess of unpacked boxes. The grounds are well kept (lawn crew out twice a week). There is a dog park at the back of the facility, separated from the houses of the surrounding community by a 7-8' wooden fence and enclosed with metal fencing. Daisy has made friends with a few of the dogs and they look for each other and romp and run in the dog park.

Honestly, this place is wonderful and am surprised it's so reasonably priced.
The staff and other community members are so friendly.

I don't like it here. I pay[amount removed] for a studio with no kitchen. The food is unbeatable. I got food poisoning a month ago. I will not recommend this place. The food is terrible here. I have to add frozen dinners to my grocery haul

Great community!
My mom has been a resident here since May 2025! At first she was hesitant , but she quickly made friends. She loves the group field trips they do periodically! (Thrift shopping, going out to restaurants, the in house movie theater days!) She's very grateful for the 3 meals each day! Makes her days so easy, she has more time to enjoy life rather than having to go buy groceries and the time spent cooking them.
There was a huge inconvenience recently, but the managers fixed the issue and made it right! We are happy for my mom! But most importantly she is happy!

The staff is friendly; don't participate in activities, not varied enough; dining-servers are friendly and helpful, several options for food, but serving times are too early. For me it's okay but if the client wants a pool then this is not the place. The salon is on the second floor but the elevator doesn't work so for me in a wheelchair I can't use that service. I'm not sure about the transportation service because it's limited for the area and most of my trips are either out of the area or on the wrong day.

Friendly, provides everything the residents need. Great residents, always something, activities planned. Really satisfied and my Aunt that lives there is thriving and has gotten involved with ideas on leading classes, plays, interviews with residents, painting, outings.

Great place to Live!
My Mom is still in good health and has always been independent and at almost 88 didn't want to live with her children or grown grandchildren. So when I called A Place For Mom and got an almost immediate call back, it was diffnitely a life saver. We took Mom to a couple of places and she choose Lone Star and have been there for a month now and loves it!. She loves interacting and being social with the residents there and the food!
