Definitely would recommend
The staff members there have all been very friendly and they are great with communicating with our family regarding updates with our loved one. The care services they provide have been great our loved one knows she is in a good place. However she is not the biggest fan of the food, and does not always participate in the activities but we do know they have bingo right now.

A perfect place for my dad.
It is like it's own little family. It is very small all the residents are like a family it is a loving and nurturing community. They have @ 40 units. My dad loves the food. The chef comes by twice a day to take their order. The room sizes are adequate.

Library Terrace was a well decorated and clean facility. We found it easy to get around and especially liked the railings and sitting areas along the walkways. We toured a one bedroom and seemed a little small, especially the kitchen area. There was no stove (may be a good thing) and little counter space. The activity director was very upbeat and has lots of things for the residents to do.

Thank you for your review and positive comments. We have a fantastic team of Chefs at our campus who make all meals from scratch using the freshest of produce and high quality meats and fish. We even have a small kitchen garden that supplies some of the vegetables and herbs that are used in our meals during the growing season. Since three meals a day are served most residents choose to live at Library Terrace to take advantage of the outstanding dining experience and the other excellent amenities, such as the fitness programs, arts & crafts, gardening, card games and the many other programs offered every day. However, our greatest asset is our staff – many who have worked at this same location five or more years! One of the many reasons that Library Terrace has been voted a Top 3 Best of Kenosha Assisted Living community for the last three years! We hope that you recommend Library Terrace Assisted Living to others who are seeking this option in the Kenosha area.

Feels like home
Very pleased with the cleanliness and homey feel. Nicely decorated. One bedroom apartment is nice size with good floor plan. Nurse [Name removed] is wonderful. Library Terrace is in a neighborhood rather than on a busy street. The staff is friendly. The chef goes above and beyond to accommodate my dad’s dietary needs. Very happy!

We very much appreciate knowing that your dad and your family are happy with choosing Library Terrace Assisted Living and that it has been a good fit for your dad. It is our pleasure and goal to help your dad and our other residents maintain as much of their independence as possible for all long as possible. Our small campus located in a long-established residential neighborhood does set Library Terrace apart. But what truly gives us the advantage over other Assisted Living communities is our staff! Our campus is small enough that the staff really get to know all of the residents and typically their families too. The close relationships between our residents and our staff contributes to the “homey feel”. Thanks for the Special Kudos to our nurses and our chef! Please never hesitate to let us know if there anything more that we can do for your dad.

Library Terrace has been a God send for our family!
Library Terrace has been a God-Send for our family. We are now blessed with the peace of mind that comes with knowing our Dad is safe and well-cared for. We tried what we could to keep him at home. Senior delivery meals were often found half eaten. The turnover with in-home care was so frequent we were never confident or comfortable having so many different people coming and going. He wasn’t eating healthy meals, he wasn’t staying hydrated, he was at risk for falls, and he was either sleeping or watching TV most of the day. His quality of life was gone. Life has changed for Dad. He is getting regular, “home-cooked” meals; he exercises daily, he participates in activities with other residents and keeps updated on current events. His Suite and the surrounding common areas are well-appointed, but homey. The number of suites is small enough that he knows all of his neighbors and the staff. Activity Director [name removed] has become a member of the family; Campus Nurse [name removed] is attentive to anything that he needs. He remarks regularly on how quickly a staff member arrives when he calls – even if it is just to open the twist off cap off a drink. He has his own Suite decorated just as he likes it; the grounds are beautiful and provide an opportunity for bird watching and gardening. He is truly living in a community and I can't begin to say enough about his new home.

Thank you for you positive feedback. We are glad to hear that your dad’s experience and that of your family has been overwhelmingly positive. One of the benefits of a smaller environment, like the Library Terrace Suites, is that residents can get more one-on-one staff attention. At the same time, being part of a larger assisted living campus allows us to provide highly skilled, professional staff, such a two full time on-site nurses. The majority of our staff have been employed on our campus for 5 or more years. In fact, our staff is the #1 reason Library Terrace Assisted Living has been voted a Top 3 Best of Kenosha for the last four years.

Mom is very happy living at Library Terrace Apartments- high quality care & comfortable home environment
My mom recently moved into Library Terrace Apartments and is very happy and feels at home. She previously lived at larger assisted living facility in Kenosha, however we found that she was not receiving the quality of care and attention that she needed due to care staff turnover and under-staffing on the weekends. We met with [name removed] and [name removed] at Library Terrace Apartments and knew we had found the right home for Mom. The staff truly cares about their residents and encourages them to remain as independent as possible. Mom likes to do her own laundry and is encouraged to use the washer and dryer when available. Library Terrace Apartments offers high quality meals with a wide variety of menu items. There are interesting activities offered throughout the week that residents can choose to participate in. Mom's favorite activity is Bingo and was pleased to learn it's offered twice a week! Mom's studio apartment is spacious with a large window, two fully closets and large cabinets in the bathroom. There are safety bars located in several places in the bathroom. [name removed], the executive director and [name removed], the lead nursing staff, are quick to respond to my emails or calls. If Mom needs a change in medicines, they communicate the orders to the pharmacy in a timely manner. I now have peace of mind that Mom is being cared for and has a healthy and positive living environment with consistent staffing. I highly recommend Library Terrace Apartments.

We are gratified that your family selected Library Terrace when you felt that a change of assisted living community was warranted for your Mom. Our staff is our greatest asset and many of them have worked in the same location for 5 years or longer. With three on-site nurses we are able to really focus on the healthcare needs of our residents. We take quality care seriously and consequently Library Terrace has continued to be a participant in the Wisconsin Assisted Living Association’s Diamond Accreditation program. Setting higher standards than required by state regulations, Diamond Participants strive for continuous improvement. Thank you for you highly recommending Library Terrace.

Some of the staff is not very friendly. When our mom became to ill to stay they wanted her out that day. It wasn't like they said when we toured that she would be able to go to the facility across the street. They were not compassionate at all. Since it was so rushed we ended up having to put her in a nursing home that was not good at all. Very disappointed in the staff at Library Terrace. Also when we were packing her stuff up, the staff was like vultures coming in asking for stuff.

We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to your family. Our goal is to try to maintain residents on our assisted living campus until the end of life. Unfortunately that is not always a possibility. At times, a sudden change in condition requires a quick move to a hospital or nursing home to ensure that the resident’s healthcare needs can be met. On-going communications with families regarding the health and well-being of their loved one is important. We apologize if we dropped the ball on clearly explaining why this move needed to happen quickly. Since this situation occurred we have provided on-going communications training to our staff so they are better equipped to deal with these transitions. Again, we are sorry that we unable to provide the higher care needs required by your family member and sincerely apologize for any miscommunications that may have occurred around their move to a skilled nursing facility.

With two buildings on our neighborhood campus we can offer a more personal experience for our residents but at the same time have a full complement of professional staff including our talented chefs and two full time, on-site nurses. I like the smaller community
This is a nice community and I like that it is smaller in size. My dad likes his room, we got his furniture all arranged, still hanging some of his pictures but its starting to feel more like home for him. Dad has already started taking part in the activities and he has even gone on a field trip to a senior center for one of their dances. He also enjoys the Friday Happy hour it gives him a chance to sit and visit. Dad likes going to the dining room but he's not too keen on some of the food that they serve. I would definitely recommend setting up a tour here.

Thanks so much for your favorable review and feedback. We appreciate that are you recommending others who are seeking Assisted Living Options to consider the Library Terrace Community! Our staff does their utmost to assist new residents in their transition to their new home and are encouraged to hear that your Dad is having a very positive experience. Our Chefs do their best to be responsive to the culinary preferences of our residents. Admittedly it is difficult to please everyone all of the time. If you or your Dad have some suggestions around the menu -- please get in touch with our Executive Director who would be very glad to share those with our Chefs.

We appreciate your positive feedback. Thank you! As you know first-hand we have great staff at Library Terrace and meeting the needs of our residents is their number one priority. We appreciate the importance of keeping family in the loop as well. As you may be aware, all of our meals are prepared from scratch using fresh produce and high quality meats and fish. Appealing to the taste preferences of all our residents every day, year round is one of the biggest challenges for our chefs. We just recently revamped our menus and hopefully there are more choices to your Mom's liking. Please let our staff some of her favorite foods so we try to incorporate a few into our future menus.

We appreciate getting your feedback. Unfortunately, I think that you may have us confused with another Senior Living Community which is easy to do when families are touring multiple senior properties. Our buildings are small and residential so we have no receptionists on staff. if you are still looking for an Assisted Living Option for your family member we do encourage you to get in touch and come in for a tour. We would be delighted to talk with you about your family member’s needs and whether we might be able to meet them at Library Terrace Assisted Living. Please make sure to ask if we are running any Special Offers for new residents to our campus.

Nice Place!!
In our search of communities we were looking for a place that would have the same ratio of male to female. This place didn't work out for that reason there was more females. The community was nice overall. The tour guide was helpful and showed us all around the community. Meal plans and activities are available for the residents as well.

Thank you for taking the time to meet with us and tour our community. We don't know how many other senior communities that you visited but typically there are always more women to men at senior communities given that the average life span for women is higher than for men. We do, however, have a sizable number of men living on our campus and in general a great group of engaged and active residents. We do appreciate your overall positive review of Library Terrace Assisted Living. Thank You again.

We appreciate having you visit our senior community and agree that we have great staff working here! We love all of our residents -- including the dogs and cats who moved in with their family at Library Terrace. We offer spacious One and Two bedroom apartments and Suites. Many units offer recently upgraded kitchens. Just last year the entire campus was remodeled and updated. We are continuing in those efforts with a beautiful new Arts & Crafts Room that was just added. Additionally, we are getting rave reviews from those who have toured our new Two-bedroom Model apartment. Thank you again for the taking time to provide us your feedback.

We appreciate your review and the feedback. We are always glad to hear how we can do better as well. Since we offer levels of care based on resident need we do not have the full picture on the cost of care until we are able to assess the potential resident. We recently changed our pricing structure and hope that it will be more clear going forward. Thanks again for letting us know.

I've heard very good feedback from my loved one. The staff are all very nice, and she loves it there! They have lots of activities and events going on! They play BINGO, and cards, and they have sing-a-longs. They also have church services and exercise classes! My loved one just preferred this place over the others, so we really didn't need to look anywhere else!

Response from Library Terrace Assisted Living
February 7, 2017
We are so glad to hear that your family member loves living at Library Terrace. During 2016 we have made even more upgrades to our Life Enrichment Program. We had added more staff and expanded our programs to include Senior Fitness with Tai Chi and other activities based on feedback from our residents. The Library Terrace We ?? Kenosha program is a chance for OUR Residents to Give Back to the local community. One such project involved making cozy, warm blankets to give to First Step Services – a Transitional Day Shelter serving Homeless Families. Finding ways for our residents to continue to maintain rewarding and productive lives is part of our Mission. Just one of the MANY REASONS Library Terrace was selected as The Best Of Kenosha Top 2 Assisted Living Communities for 2016!!

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Wisconsin regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Wisconsin regulations for Assisted Living.
