Review for Holiday Uffelman Estates
They are very friendly, helpful and don't make you feel stupid for asking for clarification on anything. Very welcoming. We picked them because of the cost. Meals and dining was good now the cook isn't cooking all the food thoroughly, having to do a lot of substitutions. Residents are getting up and leaving the table.

No worries, it's a home
My loved one is a resident at Holiday Uffelman Estates. This place is a home. The staff is like having extended siblings. [Names removed] always have a listening ear. [Name removed] has a contagious smile that will make anyone's day better. [Name removed] is Amazing! From listening to laughter to suggestions to encouragements... She's a gem. The move in process went well, the staff was very understanding and acknowledged my wishes and expectations of my brother. They have and will contact you if they have any concerns before they act, that's a blessing. They welcome the families at all times. We've had lunch/dinner there and the service is good and the food is also. At this time, just keeping them funded and open will be the best improvement!! Oh, they have some great activities/parties for the residents also. I would recommend Holiday Uffelman Estates to anyone who has a love one that wants independency with little assistance.

A friendly environment
Our loved one is really enjoying the socialization aspect at Uffelman Estates and all the activities they have to offer, it has really helped her to come out of her shell. She is really enjoying the meals and dining service also. Generally speaking the community is clean, but since our loved one moved in there has been roaches in her apartment. We do not think they are spraying so we wish they could spray for roaches to make the apartment living space for comfortable.

My review of Uffelman Estates
Our loved one really liked it here. It is an older facility that is not as big as some others that she looked at. The reason we did not choose this facility was because you could not transition to assisted living (they have care you can hire) and she did not want to have to move again.

Great place for my pop
We have been very happy with our experience with Uffelman Estates, the facility is great. I do know that they try with the food, but I think they could have a better variety of food for residents with dietary restrictions. Every time I was here, at least twice a day they were having activities in their atrium for the residents to do. They had things like corn hole, bowling, musicians etc. I would recommend them to others looking.

Clean and Friendly
Clean and friendly. Many of the meals are cold ( tuna, sandwiches, etc) and not very appetizing. Other than that, my father is very satisfied living there.

An affordable community
it was a good community. The caregivers were really nice and if you needed something they were helpful. I chose this community because it was the most affordable of the communities that I visited. It was a really clean building. The food was inconsistent because the turnover of the cooks and they didn't proper kitchen staff.

Fully understand everything before signing
We moved my mother into the community in November 2018. During her time at the community, she enjoyed most of the activities, meals and staff. She had a large 1-bedroom apartment that had been well-maintained. The facility is older and needs a few updates (some of which have been done recently). While Mom was well, this was a perfect place for her.
Unfortunately, Mom started to decline soon after moving in and she had to move out in April 2019 and into a nursing home. The staff at the community were kind and concerned about Mom's health. We did use outside services for a brief time to check on her & ensure medications had been taken.
Mom only spent 66 days in her apartment out of the six months she had leased. She is doing well in her new place at the nursing home.
The lease is month-to-month. The community requires a 30-day notice for move-out. There is a catch - if you voluntarily move out and do not give notice at the end of the month, you will be held over until the end of the following month (i.e. give notice on the 2nd of January, you are financially obligated through the end of February). Even if a resident dies, 30 days notice is required. The language in Mom's lease was a bit confusing - stating that if she required a higher level of care, the lease terminates. It also doesn't specify if wraparound applies to death or if the facility terminates the lease.
My point of bringing this up is to make CERTAIN you understand the stipulations up front. The facility management pointed to corporate's guidelines and that "their hands were tied". One would think that if a resident required a higher level of care, only a 30-day notice would be sufficient (as is law in Tennessee). The practice seems a bit unfair in holding a senior on a limited budget beyond a reasonable notice period.
Also, make sure you have a plan in place should your loved one need assistance with anything - this is not an assisted living facility, nor do they have nurses on site. We knew this up front, but didn't have a clear plan in place should Mom's condition change.

Room (pardon the pun) For Improvement
No longer an independent living community. My mother has been here several years and she has enjoyed it for the most part. It seems that Holiday Retirement (parent company) can't seem to find a management team that is effective. Each change in local management brings change to the community and the elderly are not specifically accepting of change. The food is mostly "adequate", rarely good, even more rarely great. Same vegetables several times a week. Often times what was on the menu is not what is being served and that can be frustrating for elderly residents. Activities are fun but there could be more variety. Outings are few and far between. A new manager has joined the team just this month and while she seems very nice, I hope she is equally as effective.

Ask a lot of questions
The food at the community seems ok. They offer two menus, however they do change the alternate menu during meal time. They advised us during the tour that they could take my parents to appointments, unfortunately after they moved in we were told they do not have a vehicle that can transport wheelchairs. This community is ok for independent living. We had to sign a three month contract and they will not let us out of the contract even though my parents need more care than they are able to provide.

Father is Doing Great
My father is doing great since his move to this community. This is a good community, and I'am satisfied with his move to this retirement community. The community is well-kept. They do a good job with the cleanliness. It has been a good experience, and everything is working out well. We are pleased.

Good Move for Me
So far my experience with this community has been a good one. I do feel this will be a good move for me. It is a very nice place, everything looks very well-kept. The staff is very kind, and they are always willing to help. They have lovely activities offered for the residents. The meals are good, they do serve well balanced meals. This will be a good fit for me, and I'am really looking forward to my time here at this community, and I would recommend it.

this is not an assisted living facility as advertised
we were advised that this was an Assisted Living Facility when in fact it is a retirement community. My mother signed a contract before we were advised of this and now we cannot get them to answer us either by e-mail or by telephone. She has never taken up occupancy due to the fact that what she needs is assisted living and not living on her own. she is 91 years old and scared to death to be alone.

Very nice place
Things have gone very well at Uffelman Estates! It's a nice looking, clean, well kept facility. The staff here has been very friendly and welcoming, and they do a great job looking after the people who live here! I would recommend them.
